    Wonderful, Intelligent Feel Good Movie

It's truly refreshing to see an intelligent movie with so much crap coming out of Hollywood these days. The fact that this was released in 1992 does not say much about what Hollywood has produced since.

I've always loved Steve Martin. I think he's one of the most underrated actors in the past 30yrs. Sure he's not been in a million pictures, but the old adage sticks; quality, not quantity. Goldie Hawn is one of the most honest and lovely actresses to grace the silver screen. This movie would pale in comparison if these two actors were not involved. They deliver the goods in more ways than one.

Beyond Martin and Hawn, this picture is special for it's writing. Mark Stein should be patted on the back and then some. Wow, is all I have to say. You can tell how much thought was put into every scene by the "believable" detail that's generously provided throughout the entire movie. The intricate interplay and "make believe" between Martin and Hawn is nothing short of genius.

Feel good movie? Check. Intelligent, funny? Check. Worth a watch? Absolutely!

    Super cute romantic comedy

This movie is so cute! From the first scene to the last, this adorable romantic comedy will have you doubled over in laughter. In the beginning, Steve Martin proposes to his girlfriend, Dana Delaney, while unveiling a custom house he built her, with a gigantic red ribbon wrapped around it. She scoffs and declines, and in his grief, he gets drunk at a bar and has a one-night stand with a beautiful waitress, Goldie Hawn.

In the morning, with Steve gone and only a cocktail napkin to remember him by, Goldie concocts a genius scheme. The napkin has a drawing of Steve's house on it, and she finds it and starts living in it, taking on the identity of his new wife! Julie Harris and Donald Moffat play Steve's parents, and as Goldie makes up a story of how she and their son met and fell in love, they eat right out of her hand. With a fully paid house, charge accounts at every store, and a town full of people who want to cozy up to her, she's got it made-until Steve shows up.

Full of hilarious scenes and constant twists in the plot, HouseSitter is a movie you'll add to your collection. It's a classic, clean romance from the 1990s with a great premise and a proposal out of every girl's dreams. How cute is this, by the way: when my family moved into our second home, there was a gigantic red bow wrapped around it on moving day!

one scene can make a film

I loved reading the reviews of this lovely movie. Its a quaint, almost old fashioned film. The kind of film you loved with people like Cary Grant and Doris Day etc. Its genuinely funny. The chemistry with Martin and Hawn is perfect and its a pity they did not do more together. Goldie is a great talent and you really find her so adorable. Steve Martin needs a good actor to bounce off. I always preferred him in stand up but in this with Goldie he is wonderful. The chemistry between Martin and Goldie has not been repeated and thats a shame. Its very rare to find it in a modern film. There is one scene I find hilarious. I laugh myself silly every time I see it and thats the scene when Martin sings for the old soldier "Tooraloohraloora". I don't know why I find it so funny but I think its one of my favourite moments in a film. I wont explain the details as it would ruin it for people who have not seen the film but its side splitingly funny. There are plenty of nice moments in the film. Oh and I LOVE the house!!

all i can say is... excellent!!

all i can say is that, this is my all time favorite movie and i dont know what but there is something great about this film. goldie hawn stars as gwen, a conartist who happens to stumble along the newly built house of newton davis after a one night stand in boston. it truly brings out the great giggly goldie hawn's humor and steve martin is at his best, they work great together. i give this film an 11/10. dont rent it... buy it! trust me on this one.

    Underrated comedy

Wonderful bit of fluff, especially compared to the crude, dark or 'edgy' drek that predominates these days. Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin are great together. They should team up more often. Kudos to the writer, Mark Stein. The lies made up by compulsive liars in this film are especially imaginative.
