The '90s gave birth to a wide range of amazing films. The Star Trek franchise saw a passing of the torch, as the crew from Star Trek: The Next Generation entered the big screen with Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First Contact. Will Smith earned the nickname "Mr. Fourth Of July" due to the box office success of Men in Black and Independence Day while Face/Off became known more for having John Travolta and Nicolas Cage as its leads rather than its nutty premise.

The Independence Day 3 news has been slowly coming in, as director Roland Emmerich wants to make another sequel, but the studio has been tight-lipped about the possibility. Part of the reason for the delays is that Independence Day: Resurgence was a box office disappointment in 2016. The movie only made $103 million domestically on a $165 million production budget. Walker Independence has failed to find a new home after the show's cancellation by The CW.

According to TVLine, inside sources claim that the search for a new home, be it streaming or network television, for Walker Independence has come up short. Without a place for the series to land, the Walker prequel spinoff will not return for a second season.

In Nexstar's attempt to revamp The CW, many current series will not survive into the 2023-24 season.

One of those canceled shows is Walker: Independence.

As a spinoff of Walker, one of the network's most-watched series, many thought it had a fighting shot at a pickup.

Series star, Katherine McNamara, is speaking out about the decision to end the show.

"I found out, you know, one of the showrunners and one of the producers called me, and you know, obviously it's not, it's not the call we want to get," McNamara on this week's The Wayne Ayers Podcast, which is set to launch Wednesday.

"It's not the news we wanted to hear, but I think the show and the story will always have a special place in all of our hearts."

McNamara says working on the show "was such an incredible experience."

The Winchesters has been canceled by The CW -- but Jensen Ackles isn't giving the show up without a fight.

Responding to the news of The Winchesters' cancellation, Ackles issued a call to action to fans of the show on social media. "Looks like we got work to do. #SaveTheWinchesters #spnfamily," the actor/producer wrote. Ackles subsequently shared a video in which he and the cast of The Winchesters express their desire to continue the show's story. In the video, Ackles encourages audiences to "show what this fandom is made of" and help "find The Winchesters a new home."

Per TVLine, after the Walker spinoff's abrupt termination after a single season, executive producer Jared Padalecki, who also stars in the mothership show, revealed that he's actively searching for a new network to adopt Independence. "We are aggressively looking for a place that Walker: Independence can land," Padalecki said. The fan-favorite actor continued on to say that he's hopeful about the series' future, noting that the terms being used to describe its fate may not be accurate. "I think canceled is maybe the most common word used, but I think a better way to look at it is that Walker: Independence will not be on The CW next year," he said.
