It’s taken a year since it was announced, but Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis’ adaptation of The Warriors is finally headed to Coney Island. But instead of stopping at Broadway — like you might expect from the Hamilton creator and Davis, who was a Pulitzer finalist for her play Bulrusher — the duo’s Warriors are going wide with a 26-track concept album, executive produced by Nas and produced by Mike Elizondo (50 Cent, Twenty-One Pilots). The record, which is based on the cult 1979 gangsploitation flick and Sol Yurick’s 1965 novel of the same name,...

Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to Tom Cruise’s iconic 1986 film, was a massive success following its release in 2022. Capturing the high-flying action of the original film, while also introducing a bunch of new characters, director Joseph Kosinski filled big shoes by taking over the project from Tony Scott.

While several of Joseph Kosinski’s frequent collaborators hopped on board, one of his former colleagues unfortunately lost the opportunity. As per Kosinski, MCU star Josh Brolin was supposed to appear in the supporting role of Beau “Cyclone” Simpson, which later went to Jon Hamm. However, considering the filmmaker’s enthusiasm to work with Brolin, the actor seems to have a massive chance awaiting in Top Gun 3.

In the early scenes of his new fantasy film geared to families, John Krasinski is seen as a 12-year-old girl’s father who’s in the hospital preparing for what seems to be life-threatening heart surgery. To keep up his daughter’s spirits, he delivers elaborate jokes and comedy routines, leading her to complain that he needn’t bother, that she’s not a child anymore. In other words, she thinks he’s trying too hard, which is something you could also say about If.
There’s no denying the ambition and thoughtfulness on display in this effort written and directed by Krasinski, which marks a notable stylistic turn from his smash hit horror films A Quiet Place and its sequel. If, whose title means “Imaginary Friends,” aims for obvious laughs with its multitude of amusing computer-animated characters featuring all sorts of incarnations from teddy bears to melting marshmallows. A third Top Gun movie is in development with Tom Cruise on board to return once again as Maverick. Whether Top Gun: Maverick actor Jon Hamm will also reprise his role as Cyclone remains to be seen, but the actor is pretty confident about his return chances.
In a new interview with Screen Rant, Hamm shared what he knows about Top Gun 3. He said he hasn't had any official talks at this time about returning as Cyclone, but that doesn't mean that he expects to be excluded. The actor hinted that the film could still be years off from actually getting started, so it could be a while yet before the actors are formally approached. For what it's worth, Hamm believes he may be one of the first to know once the film nears production, given his friendship with producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Whether it’s the role of Buddy in Edgar Wright‘s Baby Driver or Cyclone in one of the biggest films of 2022, Top Gun: Maverick, Jon Hamm is always one of the most attractive people on set. Similar was the case during his stint in his breakthrough show, Mad Men, which launched Hamm and his costar Christina Hendricks’ career to prominence.
But while Hamm was the most good-looking guy on the set, whose beauty left his costars awestruck, Hendricks’ beauty too became too much to handle for the crew on the set of Mad Men.

Top Gun 3 may struggle to engage viewers due to competition for screen time with Maverick's story. Supporting stars like Phoenix and Bob were underutilized in Top Gun: Maverick, overshadowed by Maverick. Top Gun 3 needs to expand focus beyond Maverick to fully explore the potential of its ensemble cast.
Although Top Gun: Maverick did introduce a slew of new characters to the series, one deleted scene will make it harder for Top Gun 3 to get viewers invested in them. Top Gun was a singularly focused movie despite the presence of memorable supporting stars like Val Kilmer’s Iceman and Tom Skerritt’s Viper. Director Tony Scott’s cult classic is the story of Tom Cruise’s Maverick through and through, with viewers following the feckless test pilot through the dizzying highs and devastating lows of the titular flight school. The following contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Super Chapter 102, "Son Goku vs. Son Gohan," by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou, Caleb Book, and Brandon Bovia, available in English from Viz Media.Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball continues to entertain and surprise audiences nearly four decades into its prolific run. While many Dragon Ball fans were first exposed to Goku’s heroic adventures through its totemic anime, there’s been a gradual shift towards the accompanying manga ever since Dragon Ball Super completed the Tournament of Power, which concluded the anime series.
Dragon Ball Super manga readers have been exposed to a litany of new and dangerous villains, such as Planet-Eater Moro, Granolah the Cerealian, and even the return of Frieza with an intimidating new transformation. However, Dragon Ball Super’s anime by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou has been at a bit of a standstill for the past year, starting its 89th chapter,...

Aldis Hodge is hopeful to continue his role as Hawkman in James Gunn's DC Universe and would like to finish out the plans for the character's story. Gunn and Hodge have not had any discussions about Hodge's future in the Dcu, but Hodge is open to the possibility and willing to have a conversation. There are multiple possibilities for Hodge's return, including reprising his role as Hawkman or playing a new character in the franchise. The Dcu is also open to working with prior DC actors, as seen with Jason Momoa rumored to be playing Lobo.
While the movie's sequel plans were shelved, Black Adam star Aldis Hodge is hopeful to return for James Gunn's DC Universe. Hodge starred in the 2022 movie as Carter Hall, the leader of the Justice Society and the hero known as Hawkman who is a close friend with Pierce Brosnan's Doctor Fate and...

Several of the new characters introduced in Top Gun: Maverick, such as Manny Jacinto's role, had limited screen time and missed out on their own subplots. The character Phoenix, played by Monica Barbaro, had a brief appearance in the sequel, but her story addressing workplace sexism could make her a key character in Top Gun 3. Top Gun 3 should avoid turning Phoenix into a love interest and instead prioritize giving her the screen time she deserves without betraying her original role.
While Top Gun: Maverick didn’t make the most of all of its new stars, one supporting character’s perfect story was already set up by the 2022 sequel's plot. Top Gun: Maverick wasted Jon Hamm's Cyclone, giving him a small role despite his potential as a compelling villain. Cyclone's off-screen change of heart sets up his potential redemption in Top Gun 3, hinted at by his nod of acknowledgment to Maverick. Top Gun 3 can give Jon Hamm's Cyclone a better story, transforming him into Maverick's confidante and replacing Iceman's role in the sequel.
While Top Gun: Maverick mostly wasted one of its supporting stars, the underrated character could prove pivotal to Top Gun 3. Thanks to the 36-year wait between Top Gun and Top Gun: Maverick, many of the original movie’s characters didn’t return in the belated sequel. Fortunately, Top Gun: Maverick was full of memorable new faces whose subplots made up for the absence of figures like Meg Ryan’s Carole and Tom Skerritt’s Viper. Druids were kind of a joke during the Diablo 4 betas. Arguably the most underpowered class at that time, Druid fans could only hope that full version of the game would unleash the class’ potential. As it turns out, that’s exactly what happened.
Druids may very well be the most powerful Endgame class in Diablo 4 at the moment. Some of the things they can do border on being genuinely broken. However, they are also arguably the hardest class in the game to understand from a technique standpoint and to properly build/gear once you do understand how the class is supposed to function. Of course, that’s why we’re here.
As before, we won’t be covering Paragon Boards quite yet with these builds, largely due to a lack of proper tools as well as the fact that part of the game is still being optimized. While we’re waiting to update that information,...

As Dwayne Johnson often puts it, "the hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change." That's because after years of hype-building and months of assorted and sundry promos, "Black Adam" is finally almost here.
The latest DC film will introduce Johnson's ancient Egyptian antihero Teth-Adam, a man with god-like powers who's awoken in modern times, as well as the Justice League of America. It's set to hit theaters in October, but in the meantime, Warner Bros. has at least one more new trailer up its sleeve. Take a look at the latest preview below, and see if you can feel the power shift.

This article contains Top Gun: Maverick spoilers.
It’s the ending you always want in a feel-good summer spectacle, and few endings are as feel-good as those in the Top Gun movies. This weekend’s much belated sequel certainly led audiences to believe that this would be the swan song for Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a character Tom Cruise first played 36 years ago. Just about every superior he has in the Navy is eager to tell him that, no matter what, this tale marks his last mission before he’s permanently grounded.
Meanwhile, it’s heavily implied that the former Topgun champ pilots Maverick is training for a covert mission in an unspecified country are being prepared for a suicide mission. So when Maverick so impresses even the stick up Adm. Beau “Cyclone” Simpson’s ass, convincing him that Maverick should lead the suicide mission, few think he’ll be coming back alive.

Val Kilmer is back as Iceman in the newest trailer for Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” and apparently, he’s the reason Maverick is becoming a teacher.
In the new footage, we meet the latest crop of the Navy’s top pilots, and according to one them, “Everyone here is the best there is.” So, naturally, they’re a bit cocky as they wonder who their new teacher is. Enter: Tom Cruise.
As we’ve learned in previous trailers, Maverick’s reputation precedes him. But Jon Hamm’s Cyclone wants to make one thing very clear: that reputation isn’t what got him the job.
“You are here at the request of Admiral Kazansky, aka Iceman,” he says coldly, as the footage gives a quick shot of present day Kilmer. “He seems to think that you have something left to offer the Navy. What that is, I can’t imagine.

One surprise announcement during DC Fandome’s “Black Adam” panel on Saturday was that the Justice Society of America will be introduced in the film. Dwayne Johnson, who is playing the titular Black Adam, was joined by his co-star Noah Centineo, who plays Black Adam’s foe Atom Smasher, to reveal the news.
In an animated tease, Hawkman, Doctor Fate and Cyclone were announced as Atom Smasher’s fellow Jsa members that will appear in the film.
“I have a knack for destroying bullies, but there are some who think I need help,” Johnson narrated as Black Adam. “Hawkman, Doctor Fate, and their new recruits: Cyclone and Atom Smasher. They call themselves the Justice Society, an organization that believes in fighting for truth and justice. Well, I’m going to teach them that the only beliefs I fight for are mine. Welcome to truth, justice and the Black Adam way.

Filming is currently underway for Top Gun 2 and some new information has leaked about some of the awesome nicknames that the characters will have. The 1986 original includes the classic names Maverick, Goose, Iceman, Wolfman, Viper, Jester, Cougar, and Sundown. Director Joseph Kosinski is keeping that tradition alive for the sequel, which should make a lot of fans pretty happy to hear. In addition to the new nicknames, breakdowns of the characters have been released, shedding some more light on Top Gun 2.
The new casting breakdown for Top Gun 2 reveals that we're about to get introduced to the likes of Phoenix, Slayer, Payback, Fanboy, Warlock, Cyclone, Viking, Coyote, Lardo, Bob, and Harvard and Yale. Slayer is a pretty awesome throwback to the 80s and also the name of the world-famous thrash metal band. Warlock also has a pretty awesome 80s vibe to it as well and so does Lardo. But, who...

As a teen just getting into the world of low-budget horror movies, and straight to VHS fare, there were a handful of directors whose work I would buy and/or rent without fail and without any prior knowledge (besides the spiel on the back of the box) of what i was getting into. One of those directors was Fred Olen Ray, the genius behind such films as Scalps, Star Slammer, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers, Evil Toons, Cyclone and the awesome Scream Queen Hot Tub Party. However in the intervening years it’s safe to say I haven’t had the urge to watch as many of his flicks as I did in the 80s/90s heyday...

Moon Knight is joining the McU with a TV series on Disney+. To say Marc Spector has a complicated history would be an understatement.
Since Moon Knight was created by Doug Moench and Don Perlin in 1975’s Werewolf by Night #32, the Fist of Khonshu has been a fixture of the Marvel Universe. Through it all, Marc Spector has swapped identities, costumes, and supporting casts. But the one motif that has stayed constant with Moon Knight is the very thing that sets him apart from Batman and other caped avengers: he suffers from severe mental health issues but still fights for justice and it has made the character unique in Marvel’s pantheon. There have been a number of talented creators that tried to find the key to Moon Knight’s publishing success, but few have ever really managed to bring Moon Knight to mainstream success.
That's all...

Lots of films are dedicated to, or in memory of someone. But it's not always clear why. We've been finding out...
Back when Breaking Bad returned for its final batch of episodes in August 2013, it had a dedication at the end of it. The card read 'Dedicated to our friend Kevin Cordasco'. As it turned out, Kevin Cordasco was a 16-year old who had been battling cancer for seven years, who had met both Bryan Cranston and Vince Gilligan. Cordasco died before he could ever get to see the episode dedicated to him.
I found this such a moving story, that it got me wondering about the dedications that appear on films, and what the story behind them was. After all, the dedications are there for a reason. What I uncovered was some funny stories, mainly extremely sad ones, and some extremely moving dedications.

Welcome back to This Week In Discs! As always, if you see something you like, click on the image to buy it. The Big Picture Paul (Romain Duris) is a successful lawyer with a wife and two beautiful kids, but something is amiss in his marriage. He envies his neighbor Greg’s casual freedoms, but when he discovers his wife has been loving Greg in some far more physical ways, a conversation between the two men leads to an incident that sends Paul running for his life. This French thriller is based on a novel by Douglas Kennedy, and as they did with Harlan Coben’s Tell No One, the result is a far more literate thriller than we would probably get from Hollywood. Duris is a fantastic actor, and he invests Paul with passion and emotional intensity as his mistake leads to a life he’s always wanted but was afraid to attempt. The...

February 2009 began on a sad note for many vampire lovers and horror fans with the death of iconic genre legend Robert Quarry. If there was one actor capable of equalling Christopher Lee’s immortal performance as Dracula it was Quarry as the evil Count Yorga. A veteran of stage and TV, Quarry was set to become a major horror star of the seventies, but his film career faded rapidly, a situation not helped by a terrible run of bad luck that nearly cost him his life. Despite never achieving the movie stardom he deserved, his enigmatic turn as the sardonic vampire lord has given him cult immortality.
The son of a doctor, Robert Walter Quarry was born in Fresno, California on 3 November 1925. He spent his early years in Santa Rosa, Northern California, where he excelled in most high school sports, especially swimming. Quarry, who had an Iq of 168, became interested in acting through his grandmother,...

Organizers for this year's Siren Music Festival has just announced its first few artists confirmed for the line-up. The two-stage event faced a closure threat after the Astroland amusement park, where it takes place every year, shut down last year.
Veteran band Built To Spill, The Raveonettes, Frightened Rabbit and more are scheduled to perform at the event at Coney Island on Saturday, July 18, 2009 from 12:00 noon - 9:00 p.m.
The Grand Duchy, Monotonix and Micachu & The Shapes are also on the bill for the event. This free, all day, all ages music festival will feature international, national and local bands and DJs performing on two outdoor stages in historic Coney Island.
The Siren Festival is an all-day all-ages affair that typically takes place next to the famous Cyclone rollercoaster, the only remnant of Astroland amusement park that was sold to developers last year.
