Like so many others, I loved this cartoon as a kid and if I ever get into office I am going to end the regulations that ended Saturday morning cartoons....
...and I could probably win an election using that as a single issue platform....
...so, you know, note to self...
I was about 7 when this was on TV. It's a cartoon made for children about that age.
This is a cartoon about a man that was turned into a cyborg in an experiment and then took his family on a ski trip...only to have his family all die in an avalanche and then in order to bring them back to life turns them into cyborgs as well.
And this was a cartoon made for children and I had a couple of the toys that came with it....
So yeah, my parents would let me watch it at a young age, but no way is my sister letting her kids watch a cartoon with a plot like that.

Bionic Six - oooh ooh!
This show rocks!
If you get a chance to see this show, you should agree with me that it's a visually amazing production. The characters have depth, are well-drawn, and the animation is of above average quality for an animated program of that era.
The stories and writing are typical, and feature typical situations that you'll find protagonists of a super-hero action/adventure show involved in.
The concept is definitely refreshing, and it's definitely a show you should take a look at in your nostalgic endevours.

What a wonderful opening theme song. In the 80's just about all the cartoons had catchy memorable theme songs, I wonder what happened. Bionic Six like anything from the 80's had a beautifully animated pilot episode. Bionic 1 was the first and then he took his family on a ski trip, while on the trip aliens landed and the family got caught in an avalanche. Bionic 1 brought his family to Prof. Sharp, and the only way to save the family was to give them Bionics. Prof. Sharp had a brother and his brother was the arch villain of the series, named Scarab. Wonderful writing, brother against brother, family fighting together side by side. Enjoyable for anyone young or old, you can enjoy it at many different levels.
Am I the only one who notices the ridiculous fact about this show that no one in the story could seem to figure out who the Bionic Six were? I mean, come on, not only did they NOT WEAR MASKS, but they were a family consisting of two Caucasian kids, an African-American and an Asian kid. Kind of hard to miss, yet it seemed in every episode people would be asking "Who are the Bionic Six?" Did the writers think the kids watching were complete morons?
For some reason, everyone remembers the theme song!
A great family show that reinforced all the good things--family, unity, diversity, and acting when you know you have a just cause.
Subplots included a discussion of family tension, viz. Wilbur and Amadeus Sharpe, which was a retelling of the story of Jacob and Esau in the Bible.
Why isn't this on DVD?
