Troppo forte

'' Troppo Forte '' is certainly the best product of the Verdone stable, focusing on a screenplay written by the legendary Sergio Leone, also producer of the film, Rodolfo Sonego, Sordi and Verdone, also actors in this analogy on American cinema, narrating the now legendary story of the star Oscar Pettinari, who tries to have his great success after having an accident in which he loses ... his spleen! The spleen, however, will be a fundamental point of history, so much so as to become a plague for poor Pettinari. Originally the film was to be interpreted by Leopoldo Trieste, but Verdone went to Sordi, who in any case makes the film his own, in the role of the '' mariopionesco '' lawyer who, during the harangue in court, does not spare his patriotic origins (Bella Italia, beloved banks, even though I will come back to see you again! The Piave murmured, the stranger does not pass!). Sordi and Verdone had already collaborated previously for the hilarious Traveling with Dad. Very cute the young Sal da Vinci in the role of the Capua guaglione and the music of the great Antonello Venditti is beautiful.

If you are not Italian don't try to enjoy this movie. If you are Italian try to enjoy this movie. But if you are from Rome be prepared for one of the best Italian comedies of all times. Troppo forte is a waterfall of roman slang jokes and exhilarating situations. You may laugh from the beginning to end of the movie. It has all the characteristics of the perfect comedy and it is genuinely funny. Carlo Verdone at his best is incredibly supported by a fantastic Alberto Sordi and a cast of street-genie non-actors that outperform beyond any imagination (Mario Brega is well worth mentioning). Son of a stand up comedian genius like Carlo Verdone, a great director as Sergio Leone and an experienced writer like Rodolfo Sonego, Troppo Forte is a milestone in Italian filmaking. Produced and distributed by Titanus, when they were still producing good stuff, there was great acclamation at the time for this movie and you can still find people around Rome using tag lines. Definitely a 10!
