One of the best unknown actors ever

The man that played the principal. He isn't listed in the cast, but his name is Eutiquio Cabrerizo. Amazing actor. Unfortunately, they dubbed over his voice with the voice of a different actor. That actor's voice does not have nearly the same melodic richness as Eutiquio's voice. And range! I realize this is a "foreign" film, but how the Oscars passed over this masterpiece is beyond me. I first saw it when I was 23 years old, and I thought it was wonderful. I saw it again just last year, and it hasn't aged a bit. I definitely would have called it a ten 20 years ago, and I haven't changed my mind in the years that have passed.

This movie is a must see for every fan of Eutiquio Cabrerizo!

Agreeable self-biographic film dealing with a nice and amusing love story, concerning romances among little boys during the post-war in Madrid

A sympathetic and fun movie stunningly directed by Manuel Summers . An enjoyable flick formed by 2 episodes about a little boy called Manolo (Jacobo Echeverría) who falls in love for the more mature Luisita (Paloma San Millán) but the latter results to be in love for the popular Mexican singer Jorge Negrete who came to Spain to play along with Carmen Sevilla , these events being shown in the movie . Formed by two parts , the first one starred by Manuel Summers himself concerning his shootings , and while making false hilarous documentary , while the second one is longest than the first , being performed by children ; both of them are crammed with comedy , jokes and good feeling.

Fun comedy with plenty of humor , romances , light drama , social habits and some songs . The picture pays tribute to ¨Del Rosa Al Amarillo¨, a ¨Cult movie¨ regarding a pink story ¨Del Rosa¨ starred by kiddies and a yellow tale ¨Al Amarillo¨ , as well as a sensitive homage to Mexican actor and singer Jorge Negrete , including singing the famous ¨Alla en El Rancho Grande¨ of the movie(1949) with same title directed Fernando De Fuentes. The first part of the film concerning a silly Debate presented by Jesus Hermida and participants as Luis Escobar , Juan José Alonso Millán , Besteiro , Maria Ostiz , subsequently about the making of fake documentaries , such as : ¨To er Mundo e Gueno ¨ , ¨To Er Mundo E Mejo¨ , ¨To Er Mundo E Demasiao¨ . The picture is marred by this first that turns out disconcerting and non-sense , while the much better second one about life of the kiddies , is hilarious and really diverting . This is not the typical comedy by that time , here there is a brief social denounce about the repression and excessive religion during Franco dictatorship , particularly on the second episode . In the flick there is especially comedy , humor , satire and social customs. "Me Hace Falta Un Bigote" has an interesting as well as funny script by Manuel Summers himself , based on his own childhood experiences , as there appears his Madrid house , school , streets , O. J. E. Summer camps , personal games and Tebeos or comic books . This film packs an evocative cinematography in color and black and white by Tote Trenas . And atmospheric musical score full of ordinary sounds and songs at the time .

The motion picture was well produced and compellingly directed by Manuel Summers . Manuel was a comic books humorist who publicized in ¨Pueblo¨ diary and on magazines as ¨Hermano Lobo¨and ¨La Codorniz¨. He was a comedian actor and an acceptable filmmaker . He realized a lot of films including social critical which tended not to be very well received by the censor . His successful first film ¨Del Rosa Al Amarillo¨ or ¨"From Pink to Yellow" got awesome critics and had big hit at the Spanish box office . It won several awards in San Sebastian Festival and Circle of cinematographic writers . It was followed by personal works wasted by excessive jokes as ¨El Juego De La Oca¨(65) . His first films were well considered in the ¨New Spanish Cinema¨ of the sixties and Summers was deemed to be the great hope of the Spaniard cinematic ; however , being subsequently frustrated . He belonged to a Spanish period called ¨New Spanish cinema¨ of the 60s directed by students of the ¨Official Academy of Cine¨ or Escuela Oficial De Cinematografia . These films contained good stories that were beset by difficulties with the censors caused by a relentless critical to Catholic religion , and extreme religious practices , showing sour urban or rural conventionality . Summers was really interested in juvenile love stories and extreme humor . In his early and best first films , Summers developed sour critics to selfish villagers and repressed characters , coerced by social conventionalism , gossip and hypocrisy . He had a big flop titled ¨Juguetes Rotos¨ (66) , though it was successfully prized . Summers , then , made two typical Spanish comedies with Alfredo Landa : ¨No Somos De Piedra¨(67) and ¨Porque Te Engaña Tu Marido¨ (68) . He , subsequently , directed teenager films as ¨Adiós Ciqueña Adios¨ (71) , ¨El Niño Es Nuestro¨(73) that achieved big hit and some of them were censored as ¨Ya Soy Mujer¨(75) , ¨Mi Primer Pecado¨ and ¨Me Hace Falta Un Bigote¨ . His last works were mediocre as the fake documentaries , and ¨Biblia En Pasta¨ (85) . He finished his career directing his son David Summers , a known singer leader of the band ¨Hombres G¨ in commercial titles as ¨Sufre Mamon¨(87) ,¨and ¨Sueltate El Pelo¨(88) . But really his best movies were a diptych : ¨Del Rosa Al Amarillo¨ (63) that was formed by two episodes about love stories between teenagers and elderly people and ¨La Niña De Luto¨ starred by Alfredo Landa and Maria José Alfonso (1964) . Following to Summers's first film was made a third episode dealt with a young romance , but it was adapted on another movie , ¨La Niña De Luto¨ or ¨The girl in mourning¨ that delivers a homenage to previous pictures.
