Pregnant hospital patients have panic attacks. The 4042 seems to have changed their medication. Later the 4042 locks all access to the computer, physical as well as via terminals.
Jens, teenage son of the astronomer, unpacks a new CCC Hawk personal computer. Later he is found unconscious after connecting himself to the PC. When in hospital care, the EEG of the still unconscious Jens is completely unintelligible.
The 4042 has been growing rapidly, and transferred itself to Jens' brain, as it seems. The action moves from Stockholm to Esrange, the space center in the north of Sweden. A rocket is to be launched.
