15 Movies With Post-Credits Scenes That You Probably Missed
Image
In 2008, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) appeared in a post-credit sequence for "Iron Man" where he was startled to see a man dressed in black standing by a window in his home. "Who the hell are you?" Stark asks, prompting the man to step from the shadows and reveal himself: "Nick Fury, director of S.H.I.E.L.D.," played by none other than Samuel L. Jackson.

This 30-second scene -- placed after the credits at the behest of director Edgar Wright -- shifted the pop culture landscape and all but ensured audiences would start sitting through lengthy end titles just to catch a few seconds teasing the next big adventure. The trend continues to this day, and it's almost disappointing when a movie, especially a big blockbuster, doesn't feature something at the very end.

So, well done, Marvel, for kick-starting the post-credit scene trend.

Except... they didn't.

New Sherlock Holmes Series That's Required Viewing for Every Mystery Fan Is Quietly Dominating Streaming
Image
Max subscribers cannot get enough of Sherlock & Daughter. As it awaits news of a Season 2 renewal from The CW, the period drama is once again climbing the streaming charts.

Per FlixPatrol, Sherlock & Daughter is currently sitting at No. 6 on Max's Top 10 Overall list, which has been pulled from Amazon Channels. Interestingly enough, the show is nowhere to be found on Max's Top 10 TV Shows list, implying that more people are discovering and watching the latest Sherlock Holmes adaptation through Amazon Channels than on Max itself. However, this doesn't mean that Sherlock & Daughter hasn't found success on Max, as the period drama made it into the Top 5 on the streamer's Top 10 TV Shows list just last month.

Sherlock & Daughter's streaming success comes after the period drama was The CW's most-watched drama of the 2024-25 television season, averaging 852,000 total weekly viewers (with Live+7 playback). Created by Brendan Foley,...

10 Best 'Steven Spielberg Presents' Movies, Ranked
Image
"Steven Spielberg Presents" signaled something to moviegoers and TV watchers of all ages in the 1980s and 990s. It meant what we were about to watch bore the highest designation a movie could receive: Steven Spielberg's cinematic stamp of approval.  After all, this was the guy who terrified us with "Jaws," inspired us with "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," put us at the edge of our seats with "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and made us cry tears of delight at "E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial," among other incredible feature films. Sure, he also bored most of us to tears with "1941," but you may feel differently about it. Point is, the dude knew how to make a crowd-pleasing movie better than anyone back in the day, so if Spielberg was willing to present something, you knew it had to be good.

Spielberg has produced a lot of movies, but we're...

Top 10 Best Guy Ritchie Movies
Image
Guy Ritchie is without a doubt one of the most productive filmmakers working today, as he has already made six films since the beginning of the 2020s, with the two additional features “In the Grey” and “Wife & Dog” coming out soon. While Ritchie’s latest film, “Fountain of Youth,” is a cheap “Indiana Jones” rip-off that ranks as one of his worst efforts, it’s impressive how consistent he has been since his rather humble origins. The 1990s saw many young writer/directors trying to create their own style of twisty, dark comedic neo-noir crime thrillers that were influenced by the work that Quentin Taranntino did on “Pulp Fiction” and “Reservoir Dogs.” However, Ritchie crafted a uniquely British, haphazard style of storytelling that introduced the new subgenre of “underground London crime capers,” which has itself spawned many imitators.

Ritchie has worked at every stage of the Hollywood system; while...

John Krasinski Hunts for the Fountain of Youth in New Trailer for Guy Ritchie's Indiana Jones-Style Movie
Image
Apple TV+ has released a new trailer for Guy Ritchie's Fountain of Youth. The upcoming action-adventure movie gives the fan-favorite filmmaker his own Indiana Jones-esque hero in the form of John Krasinski's Luke Purdue.

Following the successful launch of the crime drama series MobLand on Paramount+, Ritchie is back with what will surely be another crowd-pleaser. After headlining Prime Video's Jack Ryan series (and upcoming feature-length continuation) as the titular Tom Clancy character, Krasinski co-leads Fountain of Youth with Star Wars alum Natalie Portman, with the duo playing a pair of estranged siblings who "partner on a global heist to find the mythological Fountain of Youth. They must use their knowledge of history to follow clues on an epic adventure that will change their lives … and possibly lead to immortality," concludes the synopsis for the action-adventure movie. Check out the new trailer below.

Guy Ritchie's New Crime Series Debuts With Underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes Score
Image
Guy Ritchie is famous for his take on crime dramas, and following the success of Netflix's The Gentlemen TV series, he's back to mixing feature films and television. His new crime drama has just premiered, and it features a series of A-listers.

Ritchie's first brush with television was Lock, Stock..., a seven-part British TV crime series, a spinoff of his 1998 movie Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels. Since then, he has exclusively focused on films until 2024, when The Gentlemen Season 1 premiered to huge success. His latest crime series, MobLand, has just premiered on Paramount+ and its first reactions on Rotten Tomatoes are underwhelming.

The gangster series has aired just one episode, but reviewers had a chance to check out the first two episodes of the new series. MobLand debuted with a 71% score from the critics, which, while it's still enthusiastic enough for a positive score, it is hardly an exciting score,...

The leading star ofYoung Sherlock discusses the pressure of playing a younger version of Sherlock Holmes. The upcoming Prime Video television series, based on Andy Lane's Young Sherlock Holmes novels, has tapped Hero Fiennes Tiffin to portray the 19-year-old Sherlock. Guy Ritchie, who has previously directed two Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, is attached as a director and executive producer.

In an interview with Collider, Tiffin talks about the pressure of playing the titular detective. The actor shares that he has been a Sherlock fan since childhood, so he understands the expectations and judgments that come with the role. Tiffin further explains that he feels like "there was a mark to hit," but he places his trust in Ritchie, who he praises for being decisive and direct. Check out what Tiffin had to say below:

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Has the Worst MCU Post-Credits Scene Ever
Image
There’s one thing that Marvel used to do better than any other studio, and that’s build hype. Ever since the series debuted with Jon Favreau’s “Iron Man” in 2008, these superhero films were filled with promising easter eggs and, in a game-changing creative masterstroke, post-credits scenes that promised future characters and crossovers and villains, which Marvel then actually delivered.

Now, Marvel has made its worst MCU post-credits scene ever with the tag for “Captain America: Brave New World.”

Marvel didn’t invent the post-credits scene — so-called because they drop after the closing credits (sometimes spiked with a mid-credits scene as well or instead) — nor did they make the first good one. The first, according to most historians, came at the end of the 1966 spy comedy “The Silencers,” starring Rat Pack crooner Dean Martin as Matt Helm. The scene depicted Helm on a bed, either pre-or-post-orgy, with a cadre of scantily clad,...

“That was maybe the first commercial use ever of a digital effect”: Steven Spielberg Claims He Produced the First Commercial Movie Ever To Use CGI
Image
Apart from pioneering blockbusters in the ’70s, Steven Spielberg revolutionized the use of CGI with Jurassic Park. While it wasn’t the first film to incorporate CG, this film certainly paved the way for its dominance in the following years by setting a precedent for visual effects in the movie business.

But apart from helming the film that redefined CGI’s impact in Hollywood, Spielberg was unsurprisingly also involved with the movie that pioneered the method that has become a cornerstone in modern blockbusters.

Robert De Niro's Long-Delayed Mob Movie Drops a Gritty First Trailer That Will Have You Seeing Double
Image
Warner Bros. is finally ready for the world to see The Alto Knights. The first trailer has just dropped for the long-delayed biographical crime movie about Italian-American mob bosses Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, both of whom will be played by Robert De Niro.

Unlike the 2015 biopic Legend, which saw Tom Hardy in the dual role of English gangster twins Reggie and Ron Kray, Genovese and Costello are not twins, nor are they related, making De Niro's casting as both somewhat of a stunt casting. Announced under the title Wise Guys, Warner Bros. had originally set a February 2024 release for the movie. However, in November 2023, the studio retitled Wise Guys to Alto Knights — the name of a popular mob club in New York City's Little Italy district and one of the haunts that Genovese often frequented with his lieutenants — and delayed the movie to November 2024. This release date stuck...

'The Ultimate Horrific Experience': Nosferatu Producer Explains Christmas Day Release Instead of Halloween
Image
Chris Columbus is famous for many Christmas-centric films. He wrote the script for 1984's Gremlins, and 1985's Young Sherlock Holmes, which were set at Christmas, as well as directed two Home Alone films. Most recently, he produced Nosferatu, the gothic horror which also takes place during Christmas.

The new reimagining of F. W. Murnau’s expressionist masterpiece has Robert Eggers at the helm and had a surprising premiere date: Dec. 25, instead of a Halloween release. The movie faces some competition with two family-focused films, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3, as well as the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Columbus explained the reasoning for premiering the movie on Christmas day.

Original ‘Christmas Vacation’ Director Shares Chevy Chase's Awful Behavior
Image
Chris Columbus, the Hollywood director of films like Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, and the first two Harry Potter films, recently spilled some hot Christmas tea, revealing more details about when he signed up to direct the holiday classic, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. It didn't work out for the young director in 1989 because he had to deal with someone who is often considered the most difficult and soul-crushing actor to work with — National Lampoon franchise star Chevy Chase. Columbus said he called it quits before things escalated.

Columbus recalled the event when speaking to Vanity Fair about his participation in Robert Eggers' Nosferatu (he's a producer on the film). In the late '80s, Columbus had already worked as a writer on Steven Spielberg productions like Gremlins, The Goonies and Young Sherlock Holmes. Naturally, he would eventually jump into the director's chair, and genre mastermind John Hughes saw Columbus' potential for his next script.

Guy Ritchie Recruits 007, Venom & 1923 Stars for Paramount+ Series
Image
It's official: Tom Hardy, Helen Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan have officially signed on to star in the Paramount+ series previously titled The Associate. The series will be loosely based on Showtimes hit crime drama series Ray Donovan, which ran on air for seven seasons from 2013 to 2019.

After entering into final negotiations back in October, Variety has reported that Hardy, Mirren, and Brosnan have officially joined the Paramount+ series from Guy Ritchie and Ronan Bennett. The casting update was paired with a bit of news that may disappoint Ray Donovan fans, as the series has been reworked into a standalone project with no connections to the Liev Schreiber-led franchise. The Associate has also been dropped as the series' title, with no new title announced at this time.

January Will Be a Bad Month for Henry Cavill & Guy Ritchie Fans
Image
Guy Ritchie's next movie will no longer be hitting theaters in January 2025. Lionsgate has removed In the Grey, which reteams Ritchie with his The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare star Henry Cavill, from its 2025 release schedule.

According to Deadline, the reason Lionsgate has pulled In the Grey from its Jan. 17, 2025 release date is because the movie isn't finished. The action thriller wrapped filming in October 2024, meaning that Ritchie has spent more than a year completing post-production work and is still not finished. A new release date has not yet been announced by Lionsgate. It's a sad update for fans who were looking forward to seeing the filmmaker's third Cavill-led movie. The actor previously starred in 2015's The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and 2024's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

Guy Ritchie's Next Movie Adds MCU and The Wheel of Time Stars

After working with Iron Man's Robert Downey Jr. and Captain Marvel's Jude Law in his Sherlock Holmes duology, filmmaker Guy Ritchie has enlisted two more Marvel Cinematic Universe veterans for his next movie, Wife & Dog. One of the stars of Prime Video's The Wheel of Time has also joined the forthcoming movie.

Per Deadline, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, and Anthony Hopkins have boarded the cast of Ritchie's Wife & Dog, which is set to begin filming in February 2025 in the UK. Cumberbatch is best known for playing the McU's Doctor Strange as well as Sherlock Holmes in the BBC's modern-day series adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's detective stories. Unmade 1980s James Bond Movie Sounds More Like Indiana Jones Than 007
Image
The original script for the James Bond reboot following Roger Moores departure in the 1980s sounds more like an Indiana Jones movie than a Bond movie. Whenever a Bond actor retires from the role, the producers dont just have to find a new actor to don the tuxedo; they have to come up with a way to reinvent the franchise. They ended up following the goofy, tongue-in-cheek humor of Moores tenure with the darker, grittier, more faithful Timothy Dalton Bond movies but that wasnt their first thought.

By the time Moore stepped down from the role of 007 after A View to a Kill, hed been widely criticized for having aged out of the part. To combat these complaints, the producers initially planned to reboot the series with a much younger Bond early in his career. Richard Maibaum and Michael G. Wilson started work on a script, but the project was eventually abandoned.

10 Prequel Movies That Are Seriously Underrated
Image
Some of the most iconic prequel movies out there have been overlooked for far too long. Whether this is because of a disappointing performance at the box office or because they didn't connect with audiences as well as the original, prequels have often struggled in theaters and in terms of critical reception. It's easier for spinoffs or the best legacy movie sequels to carve out their places within the franchise, but prequels often have a more difficult time standing out. However, this also means that many prequels have been reevaluated and hailed as great works of art on their own.

The best prequel movies of all time often feel less like origin stories and more like natural continuations of the adventures of the previous films. Prequels will often strike a different tone and even break out into another genre to distinguish themselves from the movies they're based on. This ensures...

End of Pixar’s Box Office Reign? The Wild Robot Has Earned a Whopping Amount in Thursday Previews Alone

Anything and everything to do with the Hollywood revolution starts with George Lucas and Star Wars. The visionary director and certified genius from whose imagination the galactic empire was conceived took a lot of impossible leaps to make his dream a reality. Among those leaps were the foundation of Industrial Light & Magic and eventually, Pixar.

Today, both these animation companies stand at the pinnacle of computer-generated graphics imagery and the department of visual effects. Without Ilm, the film and entertainment industry would be robbed of such classics as Alien and Terminator. One Of Fleetwood Mac's Members Had A Secret Star Trek Role Only Hardcore Fans Know
Image
In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Manhunt", Betazoid ambassador Lwaxana Troi (Majel Barrett) hitches a ride on the Enterprise-d, partly to visit her daughter Deanna (Marina Sirtis), but mostly to flirt with Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart). It seems that Lwaxana is going through the Betazoid equivalent of menopause, and her libido is skyrocketing. As such, she seems determined to arrive at her destination with a husband in tow, and she doesn't really care who it might be.

Lwaxana Troi is a fun character for "Star Trek," as she is outspoken, charismatic, and tends to flout the buttoned-up formality that Starfleet officers abide by. Barrett played the role on six episodes of "Next Generation," and returned for three episodes of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Her flippant demeanor allowed her to solve mysteries without thinking about it, and her stories tended to be personally dramatic rather than highfalutin sci-fi.

Chris Columbus movies: All 15 films ranked worst to best
Image
Though not exactly a darling of the critics, Oscar nominee Chris Columbus has created a number of box office hits throughout his 30 year career. Let’s take a look back at all 15 of his films as a director, ranked worst to best.

Born in 1958, Columbus rose to prominence as a hot young screenwriter after penning such titles as “Gremlins” (1984), “The Goonies” (1985) and “Young Sherlock Holmes” (1985). He made his directorial debut when he was just 29-years-old with the teenage comedy “Adventures in Babysitting” (1987) before raking in the box office dollars with “Home Alone” (1990), “Mrs. Doubtfire” (1993) and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (2001), to name but a few.

Though he’s seldom received awards recognition as a writer or director, Columbus has had success in that regard as a producer, earning an Oscar nomination in Best Picture for “The Help” (2011), for which he also competed at the PGA and BAFTA. He won...

But the year before that, Thor was a major presence in a teen comedy film about a group of youngsters having a wild night in downtown Chicago. Their lives are put at risk on multiple occasions. And throughout, Thor’s iconic helmet is worn by an eight-year-old girl who looks up to the character… and believes he’s real. By the time the night is over, she might be proven right… Or maybe not. Whatever the case, there’s a whole lot of Thor in the 1987 film Adventures in Babysitting (watch it Here). How Stan Lee Shortsightedly Handed Disney Sci-Fi Classic Tron
Image
The history of visual effects, like every other aspect of the arts, exists on a spectrum. Yet there are undeniably milestone works that push a given medium forward, whether through sheer force of popularity and influence, or through innovation, or sometimes both. "Tron," a film made by Steven Lisberger in 1982, is one of those milestone movies. Although it began as a modest success at the box office, it quickly gained a cult following thanks to its application of innovative techniques, particularly its moments of computer animation. Despite those moments only amounting to about 15 or 20 minutes of screen time, it proved that computer graphics imagery could be viable in cinema, leading to the dominance of CGI that we see in fantasy and sci-fi films today.

Yet one of the problems with innovation is that, before new technology is proven to work, most folks either can't see how it'll work, or instinctively...

Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes TV Series Can Finally Answer A Big Question About The Detective & Moriarty
Image
Young Sherlock TV series can explore Holmes & Moriarty's rivalry origin story. Professor Moriarty wasn't expected to appear, but Young Sherlock offers a chance to explore their backstory. Recent adaptations failed to show how Holmes and Moriarty met, but Young Sherlock has the opportunity to fill that gap.

Sherlock Holmes is returning to TV with the series Young Sherlock, directed by Guy Ritchie, and thanks to one character, it can finally answer a big question about the famous detective and his equally famous archenemy, Moriarty. Guy Ritchie is no stranger to the world of Sherlock Holmes after directing Sherlock Holmes and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in 2009 and 2011, with Robert Downey Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Dr. Watson. Young Sherlock Series from Guy Ritchie Casts Dnal Finn as Moriarty

Prime Video didn't have to go far to find a key cast member for their new Young Sherlock series. They just had to raid the cast of one of their other shows. According to an exclusive report by Variety, Dnal Finn has been cast to play James Moriarty, Holmes' iconic nemesis, in Guy Ritchie's series about the early days of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic detective. Finn currently stars in Prime Video's fantasy series The Wheel of Time.

Guy Ritchie will direct and executive produce the series, which will be based on Andy Lane's Young Sherlock Holmes novel series. Hero Fiennes Tiffin will portray Holmes. Prime Video provided this synopsis for the series:

Upcoming Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes Show Risks Repeating 1 Tiresome Trope That Can Ruin Prequels
Image
Young Sherlock offers a chance to delve into Sherlock's younger years and reveal new aspects of the iconic character. Prequels often do not benefit from including several characters from their source material. Young Sherlock will likely be better if it focuses on Sherlock and not side characters like Watson.

Though Guy Ritchie's upcoming Young Sherlock show could be amazing, the nature of the prequel means that it could easily fall into a disappointing trap. Since the late 1990s, British director Guy Ritchie has helmed iconic crime movies, including Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and Snatch. However, in 2009, Ritchie tried his hand at franchises by directing two Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. Now, 15 years later, it seems that Ritchie is ready to return to the world of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's incredible detective.

Guy Ritchie is currently developing a show with Amazon Prime Video called Young Sherlock.

And while we were promised a sequel, it never happened and the movie became a part of history, and still a much-beloved children’s film. But, it has been confirmed that we are going to go back to a younger Sherlock Holmes, although in a somewhat different format.

Namely, Amazon Prime has confirmed that an eight-episode series titled Young Sherlock has been ordered, with a tentative release date set for sometime in 2025, although details on the series are still scarce, we do – as you will soon see – have some important updates for you.

Unlike the original movie,...

Rather, this is an adaptation of the Young Sherlock series of novels that author Andrew Lane started writing in 2010. That series was a response to the success Charlie Higson was having with his series of Young James Bond novels.
