    Remembering Gravedale High

"Gravedale High" was an excellent cartoon, and was in the spirit of the great 80's cartoons (but in 1990). Somewhat resembling TMS Entertainment's cartoon "Galaxy High School" (1986-1987), Gravedale high depicted a chilling high school of monsters, which included Sid the Invisible Kid, Cleofatra, J.P. Blanche, Frankentyke, Vinnie Stroker, Gill Waterman, and Duzer. The students were taught by Mr. Schriner voiced by Rick Moranis. This was all followed by a great theme song.

    Where's a DVD?????

This show is a good show for little kids but I know I'm not gonna dislike this any time soon. It's a good cast also with Rick Moranis, Tim Curry, And Phil hartman. My point is it was canceled to soon and I think it needs a season 2.

    Genuinely cheesy but somewhat spooky!.

Damn it how could I forgot about this sui generis cartoon show? I completely loved it because of many unique aspects like the goofy but spooky opening song, the creepy but naive looking characters, and the situations that deal with beyond the grave things.

Rick Moranis stars among plenty of monsters involving goblins, pumpkins, the Frankenstein monster, vampires, and more. All of them involved with extremely cheesy situations that somehow have a spooky feeling on them.

Also, the jokes were pretty clever and witty. I don't know if this show was oriented for children but I'm pretty sure it could be enjoyed by a wider audience including teenagers and young adults.

Please give it a chance to "Gravedale High" and have a blast with it! I never forget about the funny and dark moments it gave to me.

    No tricks! Just treats!

A short-lived treat. It's amazing that whenever I come across spooky cartoons, this show is always left out. Even for the obscure ones. And out of all those spooky cartoons, this one was short lived. And apparently the creator of "Monster High" was inspired by the show!

As soon as I played the first episode and heard the catchy opening theme song, a huge wave of nostalgia hit me. I have never laid eyes on this cartoon, so it's very weird. This is those moments where I need a unique or foreign term to describe something that is very nostalgic, even though I never had any connection with it (most likely I'll find said term on an Instagram or Tumblr page).

It has a unique and problematic set of characters: a Fonz like vampire, a Frankenstein's monster Mini-Me, a cute chubby mummy (can you guess what her name is? Yeah, that's the problematic part), a beautiful black Southern Belle zombie, and a few more.

I love the animation in the show. My favorite character designs are Vinnie and Blanche. My favorite characters (personality wise) are Vinnie, Gill, and Cleofatra. I hated Frankentyke at first, but he began to grow on me. For Cleofatra, the fatphobia is not as rampant as feared. Yes, it's there, but not shoved down your throat (I mean I've only seen the available 8 episodes...So I can't vouch for the missing 5). I wish one of the students was a witch! I don't understand why we don't have a witch student. I could see and hear that witch student being voiced by Tress MacNeille!

Ricky Moranis and Ricki Lake were big in my childhood, so I am shocked I never saw the show when I was younger or even heard of it until this year! And there were quite some big names in this cartoon.

As mentioned before I have only seen eight episodes since five of the episodes are nowhere to be found. (It's like they're trying to wipe this cartoon away from history lol... or most likely those episodes are lost.) I am just so flabbergasted why this was short-lived. Despite its flaw, the show was a lot of fun and had a set of quirky and cool characters (and their episodes did end with a life lesson lol).

    • Trivia
An earlier Hanna-Barbera production, Scoubidou et l'école des sorcières (1988), was set at Miss Grimwood's Finishing School for Ghouls. An installment of the popular Scooby-Doo franchise, Ghoul School was meant to be a backdoor pilot for a series about Miss Grimwood's girls, which never happened. Graveyard High used a similar premise.
