Otto Waalkes is maybe the most famous German comedian of the 80s. After doing stand-up and a TV series, he started writing scripts for movies, where he played the lead character. "Der Ausserfrisische" is his third movie and in my opinion the best Otto-movie of them all.
But that doesn't mean it is a good movie overall. Most gags are pretty trivial, one might even say stupid. But others really make you laugh - especially the ones taking place in the USA, where the main character Otto has to go to find his brother to prevent the destruction of the beautiful, natural landscape of his home Ostfriesland. The stupid German guy from the countryside in the big city - nothing new at all, but at some points still worth watching. One of my favorite scenes is where Ottos brother Benno explains to him the sign language to be used in a club.
Here is the bottom line: If you do not like Otto Waalkes, do not watch the movie. It will be a tremendous waste of time for you. If you do like him, get yourself a beer, lean back and enjoy this meaningless German movie while falling asleep on the couch.

After "Otto-Der Film" and "Otto-der neue Film" this is Otto's third try to attempt laughters from the audience. This time he parodies series such as "Miami Vice" and films a big part of the entire move in American locations. This isn't the best Otto movie, but worth for some good laughs (even though it is really stupid). Watch out the cameo of German tennis player Steffi Graf.
Many things and people are in that movie. For example nature, helicopter, recycling, kindergarten, a pub with alcohol drinking guys, a bad industrial guy who want to harm people with a 1000km/h train, the Michael Jackson moonwalk dance, the Miami vice guys, doors locked by fingerprint sensors. (*microspoiler* a single scene described) After a while Otto from west Germany comes to U.S.A. in search of his brother. three guys are searching for stuff and holding a knife in front of him when he falls in short coma and dreams that he is at his mothers home. while he drinks her tea he tells her about the dream: being in U.S.A. in front of knifes. she tells him that only his presence at her home is a dream and he still stands in USA in front of guys with knifes.
