As humans, there are a lot of ways we try to cope after someone ends a relationship with us. Some of us eat entire pints of ice cream, while others spend their time at the gym or trying on new clothes. Some of us simply listen to Taylor Swift's entire discography on repeat. However, few things can take you out of those repetitive patterns of heartbreak like a good, relatable film about love lost or taken away.
From serious, Oscar-bait dramas to laugh-out-loud-funny rom-coms, plenty of films perfectly capture the universal experience of going through a break-up, whether you're an adult struggling with a family-splitting divorce or a teenager experiencing your first crushing heartbreak. These 15 films might have happy endings, bittersweet endings, or just plain sad endings, but they might in some way offer comfort for those who are currently going through the summer without another person by their side.

Add another big-name cameo to the already extensive cast of “The Bear.” Season 4 of the FX comedy-drama introduces a new character portrayed by none other than the “All in the Family” star and “The Princess Bride” director Rob Reiner.
Wondering who exactly Reiner plays and where you’ve seen him before? Here’s that to know about the latest film and TV great roaming the streets of Chicago.
Who does Rob Reiner play in “The Bear” Season 4?
That would be Albert Schnur, the business manager who is recruited by Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson).
Season 4 of the FX original starts with a recap of the highly anticipated Chicago Tribune review. Though the review is a mixed bag overall, the one part of the restaurant that’s wholly praised is The Beef window, which is run by Ebra. Here’s a trivia question for everyone: What’s the connection between Star Trek: The Original Series and the movies The Goonies, Throw Momma from the Train, and Scrooged? The answer is… Logan Ramsey, the late, great character actor whose career spanned from 1948 to 1999 and who would have turned 104 on March 21, 2025.
Star Trek fans will recall that Ramsey low-key chewed the scenery as Proconsul Claudius Marcus in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode “Bread and Circuses.” He’s the character who gave his slave, Drusilla (Lois Jewell), to Captain Kirk (William Shatner), so that Kirk could enjoy “some last hours as a man” before his execution. Sadly, Ramsey died of a heart attack at the age of 79 in 2000.
In addition to Star Trek, he counted among his many theater, movie, and television credits The Devil’s Disciple and The Great Indoors, both on stage; the films Head, Walking Tall, Any Which Way You Can,...

It turns out that the most elementary school students aren’t deep on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and that’s probably for the best — let’s keep an eye on the one who is.
Earlier this month, Mac, Dee, Charlie, Frank and Dennis-ish of Paddy’s Pub fame visited Willard R. Abbott Elementary School for some selfless and court-ordered community service in the first part of the most highly anticipated crossover event in Pennsylvania history. The Abbott Elementary midseason premiere, “Volunteers,” was a massive hit among multiple sitcom followings as it assuaged the fear of Abbott and Always Sunny fans alike that The Gang’s outrageously immoral and indecent behavior would scar both Abbott Elementary viewers and Abbott Elementary School students.

Emmy-and-Golden Globe winning actor. Oscar-nominated producer. Director. Writer. In his 50 years in the industry, Danny DeVito has worn many hats, becoming one of the most successful and popular entertainers of his generation.
Daniel Michael DeVito, Jr. was born on November 17, 1944, in New Jersey, with multiple epiphyseal dysplasia. Also known as Fairbank’s disease, this rare genetic disorder affects bone growth and contributed to his short stature. This has not hindered his successes, beginning with his training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and early work in the theater.
In 1975, DeVito successfully reprised his off-Broadway role in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” in the film version, and soon found success as Louie DePalma in the television sitcom “Taxi,” for which he received four Primetime Emmy and four Golden Globe nominations, winning the Emmy in 1978 and the Globe in 1980. Because “The Sixth Sense, but with the guy from City Slickers” might be a tough sell for a lot of TV viewers, Billy Crystal has been making the promotional rounds in support of his upcoming AppleTV+ horror series Before. So far, critics have been calling the show everything from “brilliant” to “goofy” to “disappointing.”

Last week, Crystal took his Before hype tour to Today, where he chatted about the new show, as well as his thoughts on his portrayal in Jason Reitman’s Saturday Night, and also how he may have thoughtlessly given away a piece of priceless movie memorabilia.
Crystal discussed how he’s stolen collected some movie props over the years that are “particularly important” to him, including Miracle Max’s hat from The Princess Bride, his City Slickers chaps and, from Throw Momma From the Train, he kept Danny DeVito (hold for laughter). “I keep him...

Plot: Eli is a child psychiatrist who, after recently losing his wife, Lynn, encounters a troubled young boy, Noah, who seems to have a haunting connection to Eli’s past. As Eli attempts to help Noah, their mysterious bond deepens, sparking haunting memories and unearthing unsettling secrets about the past.

Taxi, a beloved sitcom that aired from 1978-1982, featured a talented main cast including Danny DeVito and Christopher Lloyd. The show also included memorable guest stars like Tom Hanks and Ruth Gordon, all of whom contributed to its success. Deceased cast members like J. Alan Thomas, Jeff Conaway, and Marcia Wallace are deeply missed, but their impactful roles live on in Taxi's legacy.
The beloved sitcom Taxi aired its first episode over 45 years ago, back in 1978, and in the years since, a few cast members have passed away, including J. Alan Thomas. The series, which would run for five seasons and conclude in 1982, centered around a group of New York City taxi cab drivers and their obnoxious dispatcher. Several of the main cast became huge stars, including Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, and Marilu Henner. An acclaimed series, Taxi won the Emmy for Best Comedy Series for its first three seasons.

Star Trek: Voyager actress Kate Mulgrew is open to a return to the captain's chair, but she has some steadfast conditions that must be met before she does. It has been 23 years since the last episode of Voyager aired in 2001, but Admiral Kathryn Janeway has continued to live on in other Trek projects. In an interview with TrekMovie at the San Diego Comic Con, Mulgrew discussed bringing back the Janeway character for the animated series Star Trek: Prodigy, why she is so protective of the character, and her recent discussion about the possibility of a live-action return.
Mulgrew attended Comic Con to participate in the Star Trek: Prodigy panel, which featured a strong focus on the upcoming Blu-ray release of season 2 of the animated series. The 69-year-old reprised the Janeway character for the series, to wide fan approval. The positive response has fueled a push to have Janeway return to live action,...

Apple TV+ Thriller, Before, Gets First Look & Stars Iconic Comedian Billy Crystal in Surprising Role
Apple TV+ has now shared a first look at Before, revealing the first images of legendary comedian and star When Harry Met Sally... and City Slickers, Billy Crystal, in a very different kind of role. Pam Ferris steals the show as the terrifying Miss Trunchbull in Matilda, delivering nightmare-inducing villainy. Matilda's dark humor, strong performances, and unique approach make it one of the best Roald Dahl adaptations. Miss Trunchbull joins the ranks of terrifying kids' movie villains like the Child Catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Like many 90s kids, I spent my childhood terrified of Miss Trunchbull from Matilda and now, the movie is trending on Netflix. Adapted from the classic Roald Dahl book of the same name, Matilda stars Mara Wilson as the eponymous child prodigy, who develops psychokinetic powers and uses them to fight back against her abusive family and the ruthless headmistress of her school. The adaptation was directed by Danny DeVito, who also plays dual roles as Matildas reprehensible father and the films narrator. Rhea Perlman plays Matildas mother and Embeth Davidtz plays her kind-hearted teacher, Miss Honey.

When it comes to making movies, the most forward-facing job on the set is acting. Most audiences think of actors first when they imagine watching a movie, and there's no denying that many films wouldn't be as successful as they are without talented actors bringing the stories to life. On the other hand, most films wouldn't even exist at all without a director leading the charge. And in some rare cases, the actor and director are the same person.
Directors acting in their films is a storied tradition in Hollywood, going back to the days of silent pictures and pioneer filmmakers like Buster Keaton and Charlie Chaplin. Over the years, other actors have joined in on the fun. Some of them, like Penny Marshall, kept their acting roles small so as not to detract from the other primary members of the cast. Others, like Clint Eastwood, cast themselves in the starring role.

When TCM channel host Dave Karger used to be a writer for Entertainment Weekly in his early days as a print journalist, he would focus a great deal on interviewing the big pop stars of the day, along with his duties on the film beat. But little did very many people suspect then that what he really wanted to be writing about was “Laura”… not Branigan, but David Raksin’s music for the classic 1945 noir. That was the film that really prompted Karger’s lifelong love of movie scoring.
“His score for ‘Laura’ really turned me on to classic film music, and film scores in general,” says Karger. “And then you go back and you learn that in 1945, there were 20 Oscar nominees that year in the category of best score for a non-musical film — and David Raksin wasn’t even one of the 20 nominees. Very few directors have ever had the kind of run Rob Reiner did as a director between 1984 and 1992. Think about it. This is Spinal Tap, The Sure Thing, Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery and A Few Good Men. Surely, that run alone would be enough to solidify him as one of the greatest Hollywood directors of all time? Those movies are so good it almost doesn’t matter how much money-losing crap he puts out now…and there is a lot of it… and North isn’t even the worst of it! So how did this man go from making a few great movies that defined and elevated our pop culture on so many different levels to suddenly pumping out nothing but heartless, soulless political flicks (did anyone see Lbj?) and rom-coms that are neither romantic nor comedic?
So, how did this jack of...

Let a television series stick around long enough, and the cast members, provided there isn't a tremendous amount of turnover, begin to feel like family. They're weekly guests in your living room, and they're doing all the entertaining. It's a nifty arrangement.
This coziness would be impossible to maintain over double-digit seasons if the sets of these series weren't friendly, respectful environments. There are deadlines and airdates to hit, so it behooves everyone to be not only professional, but pleasant. This means being an adult and realizing that everyone has their quirks and bad days. You cut people slack, and you make as much room as possible for whatever tsuris is going on in their life — because if you keep at it for enough years, your work family is family full-stop.
And this isn't always a difficult situation. Sometimes, a co-worker's personal mess adds color and joy to the creative process.

In 2020 – for the first time in seven years – the Best Supporting Actress Oscar category saw a lone nomination, meaning that a film was recognized there and nowhere else. This achievement is attributed to Kathy Bates (“Richard Jewell”), who competed for no major precursors except the Golden Globe but still managed to bump Critics Choice, SAG, and Globe nominee Jennifer Lopez (“Hustlers”). Perhaps unsurprisingly given the length of the streak she broke, there has yet to be a lone contender in any of her category’s subsequent lineups.
Since the introduction of the two gendered supporting Oscars in 1937, there have been 57 female lone nominees and 54 male ones, with over half of the entrants on the former roster having been added before 1977. The one who directly preceded Bates was Helen Hunt, whose inclusion in her lineup was much more heavily predicted. Coincidentally, both women had the perceived advantage of being former Best Actress champions,...

Danny DeVito thinks Arnold Schwarzenegger made a big mistake when he opted for a political career.
In a new interview with GQ, DeVito claimed that Schwarzenegger’s priorities changed when he entered politics.
“Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and I want to work together. We missed Twins 2, because he became governor — which, he should have done Twins 2 instead of becoming governor,” DeVito joked. “Now we have a little thing going, a little project that we’ve been chatting about.”
The plans have nothing to do with Twins. “No, it’s just two friends, two guys, because we have a good time together,” DeVito said. “We complement each other in a lot of ways. I am way stronger than he is.”
DeVito also said he and Billy Crystal at one point were working on a sequel to their 1987 comedy, Throw Momma From the Train, to be titled Throw Papa From the Train.
Though that project isn’t moving forward yet,...

In this weird world of spinoffs and sequels, you can never say never to the possibility of a legacy sequel, no matter how unlikely it seems. Some of them are ill-advised, but sometimes we get the chance to return to some great creative ground that just didn't get the chance for a sequel during its era for whatever reason. Movies from the 1980s and 1990s that have found cult status have the potential to find an even bigger audience with a legacy sequel, and as long as the original stars are interested, it can happen! That seems to be the case for "Throw Momma From the Train," the 1987 dark comedy directed by Danny DeVito and starring DeVito and Billy Crystal. The movie follows an author named Larry (Crystal) and one of his writing students, Owen (DeVito), after they become entangled in a murder plot directly inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train.

Star Trek: Voyager premiered in January 1995 as the flagship for the nascent United Paramount Network. The network didn't survive, but the show completed seven lively seasons and 172 episodes, joining the ranks of other classic Star Trek series of the era. The show trapped its crew in the Delta Quadrant: decades from the nearest Starfleet outpost, they were left to find a way home. It was intended to return to The Original Series' loose idea of a starship left to its own devices deep in unexplored space.
Today, Voyager is noted for taking big creative risks, resulting in both classic and risible episodes. But through it all, the sterling cast and unique characters always provided a strong reason to tune in. Below is a breakdown of the ten main members of the Voyager's crew.

It was recently announced that Daniel Kaluuya will star in an upcoming adult version of Barney. This was a confusing statement due to the fact that many people thought the film had already been made.
Death to Smoochy was a Danny DeVito-directed film from 2002, and it skewered Barney better than anyone else could. So why does Daniel Kaluuya think he can do better?
Danny DeVito Is a Powerhouse
Danny DeVito has been in the public consciousness for decades. Right now, he is primarily known for playing Frank Reynolds on It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Famously, he was added to the series when the studio insisted the show add a big-name star to help declining ratings. This allowed the show to continue, and has not stopped since.

The selection of titles for HBO Max in February 2023 will include the continuation of hit TV shows, premieres of holiday specials, and Oscar nominees. HBO Max’s January 2023 additions kicked off the new year with the premieres of TV shows like The Last of Us, which broke HBO records for having the highest jump in viewership for its second episode, and the original series Velma. Can you imagine anything more delightful than Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin co-starring in a movie with Richard Roundtree and Malcolm McDowell … in 1972? That was the year Fonda won an Oscar for “Klute” and daffy “Laugh-In” star Tomlin released her first comedy album. The two men were riding high with “Shaft” and “A Clockwork Orange,” respectively. Just think what an ensemble film that played to each of their strengths might have yielded 50 years ago.
That’s wishful thinking, of course. You can’t go back, and you can’t do things over, but it’s never too late to move on. At least, that’s the message writer-director Paul Weitz is peddling in “Moving On,” a sassy feature-length sitcom with a #MeToo twist in which two estranged friends reunite to settle a decades-old score.

Through 15 seasons, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has proven time and again that its cast and writers are willing to go just about anywhere for a laugh. Every member of the main cast -- Rob McElhenney (Mac), Charlie Day (Charlie), Glenn Howerton (Dennis), Kaitlin Olson (Sweet Dee) and Danny DeVito (Frank) -- has been shorn of their dignity multiple times. The sheer fearlessness of "Always Sunny" keeps viewers coming back, and leaves the show open to disgusting new opportunities.
It's this sense that there isn't a line the show is willing to cross that allowed the other cast members to pull a rather elaborate prank on DeVito. The veteran actor appears to be having the time of his life as part of this lunatic ensemble, and has hurtled himself into many an unflattering situation. But every man has his limits, and his collaborators found his red line when they presented him with a fake script.

Hitchcock indulges his penchant for locomotives once again in the 1951 classic Strangers On A Train. One of his greatest thrillers begins innocently enough on board said train when tennis player Guy Haines ( Farley Granger ) has a casual conversation with one of cinema’s creepiest villains Bruno Anthony ( Robert Walker ). Both have people in their lives causing them problems. The time has come for Hulu to release its list of everything coming and going in the month of August.
This will come in handy after the “Bachelorette” season finale in late July leaves us in desperate need of something else to watch.

Back by popular demand for its 30th anniversary, the original soundtrack to Heathers from director Michael Lehmann with music by composer, David Newman, is being re-released on "very" neon green vinyl. The LP soundtrack will be available starting August 23rd, 2019.
A cult-classic in the truest sense of the term, (it grossed only 1 million at the box office), Heathers stars a 15-year-old Winona Ryder, who is currently enjoying a notable return of her own on the immensely popular Stranger Things series. Ryder's agent at the time famously begged on her knees for Ryder to pass on the role. The dark comedy which pits a powerful high school clique against a murderous sociopath also features Christian Slater in one of his first major roles and a pre-Beverly Hills 90210, Shannen Doherty.
Discovered by legions of fans on cable TV and video rental stores, the success of Heathers took a decidedly unexpected turn as...

I don't know about you, but the idea of seeing Game of Thrones stars Jason Momoa and Peter Dinklage join forces for a remake of Twins sounds like good times to me. Let me make sure and point out right up front here today that this is not in any way official news, this is merely a fun story that occurred the other day. You see what had happened was Momoa was recently speaking at Celebrity Fan Fest, and when a fan pitched the idea of the Twins remake with Peter Dinklage, Momoa answered with this.
"F--kin' tell me where to sign! Absolutely. That'd be amazing. I love that movie."
And boom! There you go. Jason Momoa is more than down for starring in a remake of the classic '80s buddy comedy. Now we just need to have someone track this Peter Dinklage character down and make sure he's just as enthusiastic.
