Now I love Scooby Doo, he was part of my childhood. However apart from the voice work of Frank Welker, Don Messick and Casey Kasem, the decent music and also the presence of Scooby and Shaggy, I never did like this series. In fact I find it very mediocre, and one of the weaker Scooby Doo series with Shaggy and Scooby Doo! Get a Clue being the worst.
The animation quality was unimpressive. The backgrounds lack fluidity, the colours look flat and the character designs are inconsistent and off model. The story lines are uninteresting on the whole and hold few surprises, while the writing complete with tired jokes and unfunny dialogue contributes to making it one of the weakest-written Scooby Doo series.
The characters are mostly unengaging. Scooby and Shaggy are exceptions, they are very likable characters and Messick and Kasem are great voice actors and always give their all no matter how bad the material is. Fred is alright, but Daphne and Velma are underused, the support characters are dull and some of the voice actors sound as though they are overdoing it to make up for the writing, while Scrappy manages to be more annoying than he was when he dominated the later episodes of the Scooby and Scrappy Doo Show.
All in all, even for Scooby Doo, this is a mediocre and poorly done series. 3/10 Bethany Cox

3 Ghosts of Scooby Doo succeeded in updating the series for the 80s and at the same time turning the series from a horror/mystery show for kids to a more adventurous theme.
This series failed. It wasn't really Scooby Doo and, annoyingly, it thrust Scrappy to the forefront.
So not only do you not have a Scooby Doo show...but you also have too much of the worst possible part of the series.
Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! and Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! are great in comparison and A Pup Named Scooby Doo is more true to the initial concept than this wreck.
Avoid at all costs, it is the worst of the Scrappy Doo era

When this show was on I watched it every time I could! I thought that the characters were really funny and all had great personalities. The animation in My opinion was crisp, clean, and really clear. Not to mention beautiful! Most of the characters in this show are hilarious like Looney Tunes characters that we all love. in My opinion these characters are the funnies and talented ever seen. In fact, The things that goes on in this series' cartoons are in My opinion nuts which that is what makes them hilarious! There are so many to like and laugh at and the silly things they do! If you like the original Looney Tunes then I strongly recommend that you watch this show!
When this show first came out in the fall of 1982, it featured not only Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo but the Puppy from the Puppys further adventures as well as Scooby Doo's uncle, Yabba Doo, which proved to be a hit on TV and lasted only one season. The show was released by Ruby Spears and Hanna Barbera, both at the time owned by Taft, and the animation is well done and the music great.
Scrappy Doo: He is what some consider to be the most hated cartoon character of all time. Call me odd, but I got a huge kick out of the little dog. Yes he was loud, and yes he tended to go a bit overboard, but he seemed to be the exact opposite of his uncle, Scooby doo. And in many cases, opposite personalities make for great situation comedy. While traditionalist fans of the show hated the addition, perhaps Scrappy was added in order to entertain younger children....the audience producers were aiming for in that time period.
The Puppy's Further Adventures: This show was the "Puppy" part of the title and told the story of Petey, a dog searching for his lost master. This lesser known show was a favorite of mine, and sadly there are no DVD's or VHS releases produce as of yet of this gentle but engrossing series of stories. Hopefully they will someday, as there were quite a few fans of Petey and the gang.
