Marina is ready to fall in love. On her new synth-forward single “Cupid’s Girl,” the Welsh pop star grabs a bow and arrow and sets her sights on romance. “My heart shaped eyes are burning bright,” she sings over an electro pop beat.
The song officially marks the start of a new era for Marina. Last month saw the release of “Butterfly,” the singer’s first offering of new music since the release of the Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land deluxe edition in 2022.

Some films you know exactly what to expect when you take your seat. Most fall into a defined genre and follow common themes that send you to a satisfying conclusion. But every once in a while, a film comes by that redefines what cinema can be and create something so unique, so unexpected, and so much fun. Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, was that gift to South by Southwest,
I have never seen anything quite like Matt Johnson’s follow-up to his 2007 web series Nirvanna the Band the Show. It feels like Back to the Future meets The Butterfly Effect meets a Christopher Guest film, blending genres in a way that is both unpredictable and exhilarating.
Premiering to standing ovations at SXSW, the buzz surrounding Johnson’s latest film is undeniable and after getting a chance to see it, that buzz is incredibly well deserved.

Over the course of a career that stretched back to 1967, Peter Jason racked up more than 270 screen acting credits, turning in performances that inspired legendary filmmaker John Carpenter to name him “one of the great character actors in cinema” – and to cast him in seven different projects: Prince of Darkness, They Live, Body Bags, In the Mouth of Madness, Village of the Damned, Escape from L.A., and Ghosts of Mars. Sadly, Carpenter has now had to take to social media to break the news to his fans and followers that Jason has passed away at the age of 80. Carpenter wrote, “His first movie was Howard Hawks’ Rio Lobo. He was a dear friend and I’ll miss him terribly.“
It is true that the 1970 film Rio Lobo was Jason’s first theatrical feature, but he already had three years of TV acting to his name at that point, with credits...

Last year, Marina traded the glitz and glam of her pop persona for the more subdued reflections of a poet. Her debut book, Eat the World, reflected on her early career and pivotal dark moments in her life. At the time, releasing music to follow up her latest album, Ancient Dreams in a Modern Land, wasn’t her top priority. But now, Marina is ready to spread her wings and take flight with “Butterfly,” her first single since 2022.

Legendary and Capcom's planned Street Fighter reboot hit a major setback when Danny and Michael Philippou - who helmed Aussie horror hit Talk To Me and the upcoming Bring Her Back - stepped away from the project, but a new director has now been found.
Following a 2024 report from Daniel Richtman, THR has now confirmed that Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip) has signed on to helm the film.
Sakurai is probably best known for writing, directing and exec producing The Eric Andre Show, and has also directed the pilot and several episodes of the upcoming Amazon Prime Video series Butterfly, as well as episodes of Peacock’s video game adaptation Twisted Metal.
Reports indicate that "scheduling was partly to blame" for the Philippou brothers' decision, as the filmmakers had shifted their focus to heir next project, Bring Her Back, which recently debuted its first trailer.

Kitao Sakurai is kicking it to the street.
The filmmaker, perhaps best known for writing, directing and exec producing The Eric Andre Show, has been tapped to direct Street Fighter, Legendary Entertainment’s feature adaptation of the classic video game from Capcom.
Capcom is deeply involved with the adaptation, with Legendary co-developing and co-producing alongside the video game developer and publisher. The film has a March 20, 2026, release date from Sony.
One of the more enduring fighting video game franchises of all time, the series began life with the 1987 arcade game Street Fighter, and set a high watermark for arcade fighting games with Street Fighter II. The game, released in 1991, was the first to offer a choice of characters and fighting techniques, revolutionizing one-on-one play. Street Fighter 6, the latest game in the franchise, was released in June 2023 and won the award for best fighting game at the 2023 Game Awards.

As the European Film Market kicks off Feb. 13 in Berlin with a new market head, Tanja Meissner, at the helm, this year’s buzziest titles suggest the industry will be looking toward tried-and-true genre fare and splashy, star-driven packages to thaw the winter chill.
Bankable stars are expected to heat things up in Berlin, with Ari Aster and A24’s “Eddington”, Guy Ritchie’s “Wife & Dog”, Ernest Dickerson’s untitled hitman thriller and Kantemir Balagov’s “Butterfly Jam” showcasing how marquee names remain a safe bet as uncertainty continues to reign in the theatrical market.
On the genre side of things, horror is still expected to scare up sales, with buyers looking to sink their fangs into Isabelle Huppert’s 16th-century vampire mystery “The Blood Countess” and Jacob Chase’s killer canine genre-bender “Bad Boy,” starring Ke Huy Quan and Lili Reinhart. Right now the biggest talking point of 2025 might be Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime performance. During Sunday’s thrilling 14-minute halftime concert, Lamar performed a number of his hits with special guests like Sza, Samuel L. Jackson, and Serena Williams, who also made unexpected debuts. Billboard reports that 120 million people have watched this entire sequence.

However, this performance stirred unreal controversy as Lamar dissed Drake on stage with his Grammy-winning track “Not Like Us.” The world seems to have divided into two parts, where one is shouting with the voice of Lamar and the other part finds this one of the worst Super Bowl halftime performances of all time. And it turns out that popular streamer Pokimane falls in the former category.

While football fans eagerly anticipated Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Lix halftime performance, nobody anticipated the artist’s subsequent jab at Drake with a PlayStation Easter Egg the size of a stadium. Expectations were met for the most part of the rapper’s set. As the audience applauded to spins on songs from albums like Gnx and Damn, the show reached new heights thanks to cameos from Sza and Samuel Jackson.

There were, of course, many allusions to Lamar’s notorious feud with Drake from 2024, but what spectators were surprised by was how the Super Bowl performer decided to end things with the former Degrassi star. PlayStation’s recognizable cross, circle, triangle, and square symbols were visible on the stage as the lights went down, and the words “Game Over” were illuminated on the stadium’s side.

The latest episode of Married at First Sight gave us more than we bargained for.
We might need therapy after watching a scene where the Season 18 newlyweds explored new ways to deepen their intimacy.
Expert Dr. Pia suggested a tantric yoga session to help Juan Franco and Karla Juarez, but the awkward scene has garnered negative backlash online.
Viewers are dragging the instructor, Diana Grossman, aka Tantra Butterfly, for wearing lingerie during the scene, a claim she has disputed in a lengthy social media rant.
Diana has been clapping back and recently slammed the show, calling it pure trash and blaming Juan and Karla for the backlash she’s received.
It’s been a few days since Episode 13 aired and people are still trashing Diana’s cringey interaction with the couple.

Of all the things Liam Hemsworth has earned fame for to date, perhaps one of the most publicized and talked-about ones is his relationship with his now ex-wife Miley Cyrus.
In what might as well be acknowledged as one of the most publicly discussed relationships of all time, both stars have been met with a lot of raised eyebrows as they navigated their way between each other.

During this, there have also been quite a few rumors floating around about the alleged discomfort between the two, with some even claiming that Hemsworth doesn’t like people referring to him as Cyrus’ ex. However, even as fans go on to troll him over it, this couldn’t be further from the truth, considering a previous statement he made about the relationship he shared with her.

It seems inconceivable that there was a not-too-distant past in which Nu Metal, Emo and Pop Punk were all considered dirty words to "serious" music fans. It has taken a decade or two, but these musical genres and the artists that populate them are finally considered important milestones in guitar music history. That's the positive side of this trade-off.
The more sobering side of the matter is that the genres are the new face of mom and dad's driving songs. You had a bad feeling about this and were singing "to hell with you and all your friends" along to Taking Back Sunday a full 21 years ago at this point. Slipknot's presence would terrify the neighborhood and make people uncomfortable once upon a time, but now they do episodes of Hot Ones and sell Funko Pops. But, the good news is that these are all things to be celebrated and not embarrassed by.

I always wanted to be a photojournalist. I worked for Al Jazeera as a one-man-band reporter. My directing partner Alessandro was a cinephile and he was in Berlin working in documentaries. We were good friends from Florence where I partly grew up. I started to get tired of TV. There were so many stories I couldn’t film because they weren’t newsworthy. We ended up both moving back to Italy because our dads were dying both at the same time. Weird coincidence.
We did a documentary “Butterfly” (2018) on Italy’s first female boxer to go to the Olympics, Irma Testa.

Most directors would balk at the limitations presented by The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. Among the many challenges inherent in adapting Jean-Dominique Bauby's memoir about living with locked-in syndrome is the fact that its main character can only express himself by blinking his left eye. Yet rather than be hemmed in by these restrictions, director Julian Schnabel embraces them, placing audiences inside the mind of a man whose imagination ran free when his body couldn't. The result is a claustrophobic masterpiece about the triumph of the human spirit over adversity.

Welcome to the bustling port town of Torre Annunziata in southern Italy. It’s here that we find hairdresser Jasmine, the central figure in Alessandro Cassigoli and Casey Kauffman’s new film Vittoria.
Cassigoli and Kauffman have crafted another true-to-life drama in their popular trilogy set within this community. Like their previous documentaries Butterfly and Californie, Vittoria features everyday people from Torre Annunziata playing versions of themselves.
We meet Jasmine as she goes about her daily routine—cutting and styling hair at her salon while also caring for her husband, sons, and elderly clients. But Jasmine has a yearning deep inside that she’s keeping private. She’s been troubled by dreams of a little blonde girl who she feels is meant to be her daughter. As a mother of three boys, Jasmine becomes determined to adopt a daughter despite facing disapproval from her family.

On the latest episode of Las Culturistas, Mariah Carey sat down with hosts Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers to explain why she feels the Grammys “scammed” her.
Despite the singer’s record-breaking career spanning four decades and 34 nominations, the singer has only five Grammy wins.

Deviations in Once Human are strange creatures, usually animated objects, that can provide assistance in combat or territories or even produce crafting materials. Along with regular versions of deviations, several versions have new "shiny" variants that come in different colors. These shiny deviations also have unique traits that change their unique functions.
While the means of obtaining these deviations have recently been updated, most can be obtained through the regular method for their base versions. Some, however, may be found quicker by completing greater difficulties or resource gathering in higher-level areas. Here are all shiny deviation variants, their unique traits, and where to find them.

Jia Zhang-ke’s Caught by the Tides attests to the fact that making art under the most adverse conditions can prove to be serendipitous. If shooting a film from scratch wasn’t feasible under China’s restrictive Covid lockdowns, Jia viewed the situation as a formal constraint, in the same way a poet might approach the rules of a sestina. Turning to his existing body of work, he recycled earlier material, editing together unused footage with what could be shot under the circumstances. The result is a bricolage of documentary, minimalist drama, and experimental remake. As Jia’s filmography is inseparable from the career of his spouse and longtime collaborator, actress Zhao Tao, the film also operates as a dual retrospective.
In execution, Jia doesn’t blend genres so homogenously as to obscure their distinctions. He prefers to shift the balance over the course of Caught by the Tides, allowing...

For some of us, there are few things in this world more comforting than classic television. Back before "prestige TV" was really a thing and getting people to tune in was sometimes just a matter of hiring the biggest guest stars possible, things were a little different. There's just something about turning on the TV and settling in for a an episode of "Star Trek: The Original Series" or "Columbo" and knowing that matters will be resolved by the end of the show's runtime and that Lieutenant Columbo (Peter Falk) and Captain Kirk (William Shatner) always get the bad guy. Both are also pretty progressive; Columbo (an idealized lawman) routinely takes down the rich and powerful of Los Angeles, while "Star Trek" has always been socially conscious, aiming for a utopian society.
Columbo ran for a long time and then extended its life through a series of TV movies, meaning it filmed throughout the 1970s,...

Filmmaking duo Alessandro Cassigoli and Casey Kauffman continue their success in crafting authentic and heartfelt drama from real-life situations with Vittoria. The third of their films to be shot against the working class backdrop of the Neapolitan port city of Torre Annunziata, each film has spawned the next. Coming-of-age docudrama hybrid Californie, centred on Khadija Jaafari, who the pair had met shooting their documentary Butterfly, and it also featured the non-professional star of this film Marilena Amato in a supporting role.
Amato plays Jasmine - in a verite story that both features and is structured around the real experiences of her and her family. A hairdresser with a penchant for leopard print and brassy attitude to life, she also has a busy homelife with her carpenter husband Rino (Gennaro Scarica) and three sons, with the oldest Vincenzo (Vincenzo Scarica) at something of a crossroads as he mulls following his mother into.

Deviants are companion creatures you can summon in Once Human, with the Butterfly being one of the first you befriend during the game's tutorial. Successfully pairing with this alien being will let you call upon it in battle to protect your character and attack enemies. However, with very little instruction provided, it can be hard to determine what you need to do to summon the Butterfly early in your adventures.
Four types of Deviants exist in Once Human's F2P open-world - Combat types, Territory types, Gadget types, and Furniture types. The Butterfly falls under the first category, being suitable for combat during the beginning stages of the game. Since the Butterfly is the first Deviant you get, it is very easy to use compared to other creatures you'll interact with in the future.
