Rémi is picked up by Vitalis who is jailed for assaulting an officer. Then, later they meet the terrible Garofoli. Rémi whips him in the face to defend himself and he escapes with Vitalis. Vitalis falls ill and dies.
At the morgue, Rémi recognizes the bodies of Vitalis and Garofoli. Rémi flees with Mathia and while Matthia had robbed Garofoli's money, it was robbed by the smuggler helping them. Then Rémi and Matthia go find a job in the mine.
Rémi and Mathia leave for London to find Rémi's real mother, but no one can help them since they don't speak French. Mathia leaves Great Britain for France. Lise confronts James Milligan, who now learns that Rémi is his real son.
