To agree with the other reviewers this is a brilliant black comedy, and the use of archive footage adds to the authenticity.
One thought I had was Ian Richardson's multiple characters reminds me of Peter Sellers in Soft Beds, Hard Battles, and I note Rula Lenska is in both productions.
Of cause it would never be made in these sad PC days.
Ian Richardson does a wonderfully evil SS officer -- and the rest of the cast isn't bad either. You have to see this one for yourself.
Elphinck tries on many occasions to get his hand on the money but, finally fails but ends up with Whitelaw [ after the war is over ].
I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE ON DVD - are the BBC mad ???
Brilliant humor. It should be released of DVD!

[About the German plan to destroy the British economy by flooding the country with forged £5 notes]
Major Neuheim: This could revolutionize the whole concept of war finance. It could become possible to fight a war entirely at the expense of the enemy.
