The tragic death of "Friends" star Matthew Perry has brought to the surface a plethora of fan-favorite on-screen moments, as well as his struggles, successes, and connections to different cast members. In fact, Perry's onscreen mother in "Friends" -- Morgan Fairchild, who played Nora Tyler Bing -- had actually met him many years before they worked together.
In David Wild's "Friends ... 'til the End: The One With All Ten Years," Fairchild recounted how she came to be on the show: "When they first called I thought 'Oh my God, I'm too young to play this guy's mother.' But I had seen the show and it's such a good show, so I thought it would be fun to do."
When the two first encountered each other on set, Perry revealed that he already knew her. "I got on the set and Matthew said, 'You don't remember me but...

Few names in Hollywood's illustrious history get people talking quite like Joan Crawford. The legendary actress began her career in silent films before transitioning to sound, and worked for decades, appearing in more than 80 films and television shows. However, the images conjured up of Crawford these days are rarely of her -- instead, they're of Faye Dunaway, who played a diabolical and utterly maniacal version of the actress in "Mommie Dearest," That 1981 film -- based on a shocking book from Crawford's daughter Christina -- changed Crawford's reputation forever and all-too-often erases her stature as one of cinemas greatest stars.
That is nothing short of a tragedy. Few actors could match Crawford's talent, determination, and tenacity. Indeed, even after she retired and then passed away in 1977, very few have matched her prodigious abilities. It can be difficult to look past her domineering facade (especially in a post-"Mommie Dearest" world), but...

That includes the city’s most celebrated filmmaker, Pedro Almodovar, who been writing essays documenting his experiences and the memories that have come up as a result. This is the latest installment, provided to IndieWire by the filmmaker and translated into English by Mar Diestro-Dópido. Read the previous one here.
On Monday night, as the new hardened measures for the current quarantine were being announced, I started feeling symptoms of claustrophobia for the first time. They’ve come up late, as I’ve been suffering from claustrophobia and agoraphobia for a while; I know they are opposite pathologies, but my body is paradoxical, it is one of its characteristics, it always has been.

Last week, you mentioned not seeing the kiss between Nolan (Gabriel Mann) and Tyler (Ashton Holmes) on Revenge. Why was it edited out? -- John (via email)
I went right to the source and talked to Mike Kelley, who created and is Executive Producer on Revenge. Of the edited-out kiss he explained, “The kiss wasn’t, for me, as interesting as the intention. Having written Swingtown [the short-lived CBS series about swingers living in the 1970s] and gone through trying to depict and broadcast sexuality so it’s satisfying for myself, the network and the viewers, it’s a really tricky line to toe."
"I’ve always been a fan of seeing which two people go into the bedroom and shut the door than seeing what goes on behind that closed door. I’m not trying to…I don’t have any hang-ups on kissing no matter who is kissing whom.”
Kelley also teased that ‘surprising sexual turns’ are coming for another Revenge character.

When Season 7 of "Bones" makes its late debut on Nov. 3, expect at least a few of the cases to tie into the lead characters' impending parenthood.
And this one should prove no exception.
As first reported by TVGuide, '80s TV icon Morgan Fairchild will join the series in episode 3 as, you guessed it, a suspect in a murder investigation.
Fairchild -- best known for roles on "Flamingo Road," "Falcon Crest" and "Friends" -- will play Bianca, a well-dressed CEO of a toy company who becomes a person of interest to Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) when the remains of one of her employees are discovered.
Also of interest, we suspect, is the dialogue about what kind of toys the partners' baby will be getting when the little bundle is born.
Booth and Brennan's eternal battle over the traditional versus the more cerebral should only heat up now...

Elegant and charming supporting actor with more than 200 credits over a 70-year career
Kevin McCarthy, who has died aged 96, notched up more than 70 years as a working actor on stage and screen, with more than 200 film and TV credits. However mundane the material, it was usually enhanced by his lazy charm and natural elegance, his intriguing baritone voice and unconventional good looks – all attributes that might well have led him down the political path of his cousin, senator Eugene McCarthy. As it happened, he preferred to play politicians rather than be one.
He received his first screen credit in Laslo Benedek's version of Death of a Salesman (1951). McCarthy had previously played Biff, one of Willy Loman's disillusioned sons, in the London production of Arthur Miller's play, in 1949. By the time of the movie, he was a youthful-looking 37, with considerable stage experience. Resuming the role of Biff, he held...
