The historical character played by Rogério Vieira appears as José Augusto in the opening credits, and also in the booklet "Biografia de uma Amizade" (2008) distributed in the limited edition DVD for the 120th anniversary of Fernando Pessoa's birth. However, this historical character is described as José Abreu in the film's intertitle for the specific scene, and is also called José Abreu by the film's director in his conversation with the principal actors, which is an extra of the same DVD. The biographers of Mário Sá-Carneiro refer to that person as José Araújo, a name that has never been disputed by scholars.
