Actually it's "Bruce Le", not "Li"... but who cares?

I saw this in a theatre, summer 1980, and I was shocked to see the great Shih Kien fighting against "Bruce Le" (burmanese stuntman Wong King Lung) after he fought the real Lee in ENTER THE DRAGON. I still remember some people in the theatre whispering: "It's him for real!" during a night fight on a roof. Story is inspired by the tumultuous youth of Lee bet almost everything is invented, nonetheless I can't say I was too disappointed: the scene with the snakes is impressive and the presence of vet stuntman-actor Kong Dao helps. Many years later I went in Hong Kong and met Kong Dao, and we had a talk about these movies. Vets of the genre as the late Hon Kowk Choi and Fung Hak On are here too and they were the pepper in this kind of bad movie. Originally titled Bruce King of Kung-Fu, aka The young Bruce Lee aka Drunken snake kid. If you are at the game you can have some fun.

      Bruce Li at his best!!!

Having just watched this dvd.. i was amazed at how a 20 year old movie this good could have been passed, by the masses. It has a segment with young bruce lee..enough for the title..about 5 minutes i'd say.. then it's an atypical Bruce Li as Bruce Lee movie.. The fights are pretty good, the action moves along and their is actually a pretty decent plot. If you like bruce lee, bruce li or good "chop-sockey" flicks.. you shouldn't miss this one. And the dubbers have named the love interest in the film "Chow MAE" a play on chow mein .. while on the subject of dubbing it's even done above par . a great early 80's chinese actioneer!! Dont miss it.

The late great character actor who specialized in slimy treacherous bad guys,Ping Ou Wei (billed as Wei Ping-Ao), has a nice cameo in this film. He is best remembered as the effeminate 'Interpreter Wu' of the Japanese school in the real Bruce Lee's "The Chinese Connection" and Lee's "The Way of the Dragon" as also another effeminate character called 'Ho' ( billed as as Paul Wei Ping-Ao)
