I caught TIGRESSES theatrically over 30 years ago, and this hit movie holds up well in its DVD release. It's among Joe Sarno's more successful XXX movies, made before he gave up on quality and shifted to video filler.
The format is almost identical to his famous later hit INSIDE LITTLE ORAL ANNIE, actually a riff on the early hardcore hit TEENAGE FANTASIES with Rene Bond. Gimmick is having a beautiful and talented leading lady, in this case Samantha Fox, giving an amazing blow job plus money shot to introduce each porn vignette. Sure beats the heck out of the Crypt Keeper in omnibus horror movies.
This works for several reasons: the hostess' sex footage is truncated to run under a minute, rather than the longueurs to which porn fans have been accustomed, and the hostess addresses the camera directly, intimately. Fox is spectacular in this turn, and sharp-eyed fans will spot Ron Jeremy, in his porn debut, getting the treatment (though his face isn't shown). Other big stars like Edwards have similar cameos.
First segment deals with Rikki O'Neal as Holly, a fitness freak having a threesome involving Herschel Savage. This establishes the film's "women calling the shots" overall premise. Comedy payoff has Rikki donning boxing gloves after sex, asking the guys: "Wanna go a few rounds?".
Siliconed beauty Jill Monroe follows as Jill, a horny gal prowling the NYC waterfront in search of sailors. She takes a guy home for brunch, with comical banter regarding the lox & bagels, and gets a full treatment including anal sex and two money shots.
Celebrated sequence starring the Sloan twins lets Sarno apply a full dose of incest, actual rather than cerebral. They're both serviced by John Black, an Afro-American actor who never got a real breakthrough role. Comical motif is provided by the show tune "Two Heads Are Better Than One" playing rather too appropriately.
Vanessa Del Rio does her best to try and steal the show as Rosita, speaking only in Spanish, as she engineers a business deal with Michael Gaunt and another guy. Her maid Patty Boyd joins for a foursome and the comical twist is way too predictable.
It's Fox who overshadows everything, giving classic deep throat, and utterly convincing when she declares "I love it, I truly love it". Making the all-sex format entertaining is definitely a lost art -even Joe would lose the touch about five years after this one.
