La nuit porte jarretelles

There seems to be almost no scenario and almost nothing is remarkable about this movie. The music is sub-mediocre, the image quality the same. One needs a ton of patience to see it up to the end. I wanted to stop here but the system claims that i have to write more. It is the same feeling I had about this movie: I wanted to stop watching, but then I had much more till the end. After getting lots of non-action, some vulgar sexual innuendo, some boring dialogues with not too much logical linking from one to another, you realize that there is still of the same. The only quality of this movie is probably the fact that one can see some documentary images from a Paris that no longer exists.

An odd look into Parisian nightlife of the 1980s. I was expecting scenes from legendary club Le Palace and pre-HIV, coke-fueled debauchery, Karl Lagerfeld with a beard, etc. but it turned out to be more about sex shops, peep shows and 2am conversations with transvestites in the Bois de Boulogne. There are glimpses of an extinct side of Paris that is rarely documented - that age-old sleazy atmosphere mixed with a new-found modern lifestyle - but overall it's not very interesting. The story is insignificant. Appearances by Eva Ionesco (barely intelligible but funny) and Caroline Loeb (a 1980s pop singer with a strange grin).
