The Young Pope: Jude Law plays pontiff in new TV trailer
Tony Sokol Oct 4, 2016

The Young Pope explores the contradictions of faith, and stars Jude Law in the title role. Here's the trailer...

“Who are you?" the first official teaser trailer for The Young Pope asks. The new pontiff, an American played by Jude Law, explains “I'm a contradiction. Like Mary, virgin and mother. Like man, good and evil. I'm God."

Filmmaker Paolo Sorrentino’s English-language TV drama feature will star Law as Lenny Belardo, who is known as the first American pontiff, Pope Pius Xiii. (We should stress that this is a fictional pope that Mr Law is playing.)

“Lenny Belardo, aka Pius Xiii, is the first American Pope in history,” reads the official synopsis.

Meg Ryan will star in an NBC comedy pilot
Meg Ryan has signed on to star in her first regular TV role in almost 30 years, heading up a comedy project in the works at NBC.

Ryan ("Sleepless in Seattle," "When Harry Met Sally") will executive produce the project in addition to starring, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show centers on a woman who returns to her old job in publishing after some time away and tries to balance work and family.

Ryan has guest-starred on "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and "Web Therapy" in recent years, but you have to go back to the mid-1980s -- when she followed up a run on "As the World Turns" with a short-lived prime-time show on ABC called "Wildside" -- for her last role as a series regular.

The NBC show comes from writer Marc Lawrence ("Miss Congeniality," "Family Ties"). Ryan will play an upbeat and "desperately non-confrontational" woman with teenage kids...
