    based on game

Dirk the Daring is a knight in love with Princess Daphne. He often goes on quests with his stallion Bertram, his squire Timothy, and the Princess. Sir Hubert Blunt is a rival knight. The kingdom is threatened by the dragon Singe.

In a flip, the arcade game came first. In the old days, the TV show usually comes first to sell all the merchandise including an arcade game. I remember seeing the game in an arcade back in the day. Sadly, I was too cheap to play it. As a show, it probably needs to be more overtly comedic. Dirk's look makes him more comedic than heroic. He's tall, lanky, and gawky. It has the choose-your-adventure thing. In many cases, the viewer is given a choice between two actions and the best solution is often a third unmentioned choice. I believe it's based on the game play. It lasted only half a season.

    Cool Show

From my memory this show wasn't on too long, but it was a great cartoon. It was like the arcade game in that you choose what path to take. This choice came before the commercial break and it would show you the consequences when it returned from the break. Cool idea and it made it real fun to watch. For example, I remember one scene in which as Dirk you could choose to either take a path into the forrest or fight these mud creatures. I choose to fight the mud creatures (in my mind of course) and when the cartoon came back from break it showed the consequences. Going into the forrest led to other adventures and moved the show along while fighting the mud creatures led you to be engulfed in the mud and ending your character. Like I said real fun for a kid watching cartoons.

    • Trivia
In the original video game Daphne was a stereotypical damsel in (low-cut) distress. In the cartoon series Daphne is an adventuress and much more sensibly (and modestly) dressed. However, she continues to wear a dress on most occasions, though one that is less sheer than in the video game.
    • Goofs
Each episode is begun and ended with the pages of a book. The book often has spelling errors such as "once upon a tune" for "once upon a time", "kinydom" for "kingdom" and "abdd" for "a bold" indicating that the illustrator was not an English speaker.
