You got to make a living

This movie came on at 3 in the morning. it was passable- a nice story of a struggling comedian who gets caught in a fiasco. Ritter uses his comedic talent for pratfall and double entendre.

    BOORING AND SLOW

This film takes a long time to catch its stride, if it ever really did. It took a bit of time to figure out what's going on. It also had a lot of "I know that guy" type actors. Weirdly, there was too much happening at times, and other times everything seams to drag like the dog in Vacation. John Ritter turns out to be the best thing about this film, but he was good in most things he was in, I've always been a fan of his. With all that being said, this was not his best work, but i dont put the blame on Mr Ritter. It was at the end of threes company and the beginning of threes a crowd, and almost as if he was testing the movie waters but wasn't quite ready to switch over yet. Luckily for us he was able to make that switch later in his career and knocked it out of the park. The truth in the end was, TV was John's true forte. He was without a doubt one of the best sitcom actors on the small screen. As for Martin Short? Sorry Short fans, im definitely biased here because for some reason I have never found Mr. Short very funny. Even when he was on SNL I thought he unfunny. I did like him in Captain Ron though I always blamed him for the Three Amigos bombing. Look, I'm sure he is funny to some folks but his comedy is just not for me. Overall the film was not terrible, it just could have been better in many ways. Sadly this film would fall into the "I haven't nothing better to watch" kind of flick.

When Julie says, "I'll be paying for that tree 'til Thanksgiving." It is not a boom mic seen in the upper right. It is part of the chandelier over the dinning room table. It can be seen better in subsequent shots an in full as they enter the room.
