Excellent, amazing Italian Comedy (first episode only)

This Movie is simply excellent! Lino Banfi gives an outstanding performance, he plays the as an Italian businessman with some communication problems with his family. First things first, Altomare (the main character) is a very superstitious man from Southern Italy. He constantly fights against bad luck and strives not to get into troubles. He's the typical average Italian man and the movie is sooo nice because it shows the little contradictions of the average Italian family. This movie is impossible to understand unless the viewer spoke Italian fluently and had a profound knowledge of the Italian culture. The second episode with actor Johnny Dorelli is inconsistent and useless to watch, just focus on the first one, named " Il Pelo della Disgrazia". I love this movie and never get tired of it!

      From Altomare to Gran Gaspar

I don't understand why the critics gives bad reviews to the second episode. When I see my childhood friends to have some beers we always remember the Johnny Dorelli's performance together with the late Paola Borboni in which she admitted to be a witch. The magician is hilarious even when he tries to bribe innocent farmers whose son Bastiano eager to "rompe-lu-culo" (beat your ass in crude words), promising them pouring rain in a hot sunny day.

Anyway surely the first episode is the better one; I enjoy the relationship between the father and the estranged son-in-law, a slacker who later joins a peace&love commune. It displays the classic south Italian man, who is always afraid of bad luck.

      • Trivia
In the first episode, Altomare Secca (Lino Banfi) tells a joke about actor Johnny Dorelli, who plays the main character of the second episode. Banfi ad libbed the joke, being sure that it wouldn't have been included in the final cut, but at the end it was kept.
