My Views on "The Georgian House"

There are so many things i want to say about "The Georgian House".I was 9 years old when i saw it and i loved it for so many reasons. It was an era when channel three were making superb dramas and sci-fi`s for children, with "Sky", and "Children Of The Stones" being another two superb childrens classics. What struck me most about "The Georgian House"was for one the spooky african vibe, when Dan and Abbie, two students working in a georgian house entered a room containing a strange wooden african-like carving on the table.I remember them sitting around the wooden carving, then with an eerie atmosphere it began to rotate with the room darkening and a haunting whispering calling boy,boy,boy...This sent such an exciting shiver down my spine.Next thing Dan and Abbie were transported back to 1772 where their mission was to help a negro slave boy called Ngo who posesses strange powers to get back to his proper home. What also amazed me was the way they automaticaly became part of that time wearing georgian clothes and being known by everyone as though they had always existed there.A drama with so much character so why ar`nt any of these three classics available to own on DVD or VIDEO?

supernatural drama - still remember the African drum music

I recently saw an unrelated movie, Drums of Africa (1963)(that may contain music from the movie King Solomon's Mines (1950). During the movie I heard African drums playing. When I hear those particular 'African drums' I always remember hearing it in a 1970s TV series.....even after all these years it transports me back! Absolutely amazing! I couldn't recall the name of the series but believe is the one being discussed here "The Georgian House". I remember a boy dressed in period costume - as an 18th century servant boy. I watched the whole series and also "Children of the Stones" with Iain Cuthbertson, "Raven" with Phil Daniels, and "The Tomorrow People" but such a long ago, all fairly vague now. For fans of "The Georgian House" you may like to refer to a Youtube page to hear those fantastic African Drums play once again. The title is "DJEMBE...The Power of Tribal Drums" posted by ronald591 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxKHN0HSuzA (the same version appears to be on Paint (Original Mix) by MC Deejay Club)

    Children's supernatural drama

I'm in my forties now and still have vivid visual memories of this serial, especially the strange ritualistic carving that transports the young people back in time to rescue a child slave played by a guy who later went onto form the band Aswad.I wanted to be the Abbie character played by Adrienne Byrne, pretty, brave and intelligent. I loved drama that was spooky and this was one of my favourites along with The Children Of The Stones and The Owl Service. There was, as i remember a shock ending too, but i won't spoil it in case anyone has the opportunity to see it. It would be great if the drama could be brought back to the present day in the form of DVD.
