Pilot episode. Joe Vitale is worried about the mysterious behavior of his eldest son Mark, who has been coming home late and falling asleep in class.

The Vitale household goes into crisis mode when Mark expresses doubt in a higher being. Joe tries to explain that there is a God to his son.

Joe is looking forward to the annual river boat outing put on by Hoboken Steel. As he gets ready to depart with best friend Gus his family, particularly his sons, have situations that need his attention.

Joe agrees to let his Uncle Charlie stay with his family after the elderly man abruptly leaves the retirement facility. But the changes brought about by their house guest are not entirely welcome.

Joe agrees to let his pal Mo stay while recovers from a painful accident. Mo plans on suing the bus company he feels is responsible but Joe gets the feeling his bigger problem is greed.

Joe worries that a house plant left by a long-haired friend of Mark's may be marijuana.

Nick is embarrassed by his bedwetting and goes to extreme lengths to keep it a secret. Eventually the rest of the family finds out and their concern leads to a doctor's visit.
