Turkey Tarzan shot in Ivory Coast by a bunch of Spaniards...

An extremely pathetic effort to make a Tarzan film.

Although, it's probably fair to say that this one is less a Tarzan film that a film about a bunch of white guys going in the jungle to seek treasure.

Tarzan is not on screen for more than a fourth of the film at most, which is a shame, because he evokes most of the laughs in this turkey.

Filmed in Ivory Coast, no effort is made to do a period piece. Actually, no traces of anything called production design can be detected in the film. No sets are built, no costumes used (Apart from Tarzan's loin cloth, of course), it just seems that they went to Africa to film the "actors" in their own travel clothes. Most of the time the native people look genuinely surprised, one wanders were they aware they were filmed...

Overlong, slowly paced and utterly predictable, this one can only be recommended for hard core fans of turkey cinema.

Where did the Tarzan get all those protein pills in the jungle?

Released on video in Finland in the early eighties.

    Tarzan and the Lost Opportunity.....

Deadly dull disappointment ensues on viewing this film, truly the most static of all Tarzan films. Despite the on-location shooting no excitement is generated. Richard Yestaran looks just like Tarzan should look, hearkening back to the original engravings in the Burroughs Tarzan first editions. His naturally magnificent physique (not over-defined like a body builder's) is perfect for the role and the required display. His hair is semi-long but not inappropriately styled. However, he's given far too little to do in the film and no action sequences at all. His character is effectively reduced to forest warden and tour guide throughout a tiresome travelogue. None of the other characters are developed enough to engender the slightest interest, although the younger man in the expedition had some potential. The plot is negligible and the photography is as murky as the dialogue. Contrast this with the gripping final two Gordon Scott Tarzan films and you'll see the vast chasm in quality between them. Truly this is Tarzan and the Lost Opportunity. It gets a 3 out of 10 for Richard Yestaran's appearance only.
