Isabel Garcés' sympathetic vehicle with entertainment and amusement enough.

A typically urban upper-class family from Madrid is turned upside down by the appearance of an old-fashioned woman, Doña Emilia Piñeiro (Isabel Garcés), who was born at the beginning of the century and has always lived in her country house in Louriño, Galicia. When the grandmother from the northwest of the peninsula receives a telegram informing her of the car accident her son Juan has suffered, she then travels to Madrid without warning. She suddenly takes the train to Madrid, accompanied by her trusted maid (Josele Román). Upon arriving in the capital, Doña Emilia discovers she will have a lot of work to do with her son (Alberto De Mendoza), daughter-in-law (Helga Liné), and grandchildren (Ramón Pons, Deborah Colette). For her, the life they lead and the modern environments they live in are too incomprehensible. The contrast between the old woman's way of seeing things and the way others live is shocking from the very beginning.

It is an agreeable picture concerning the silly adventures of an unfortunate as well as botcher elderly woman who goes to visit his son due to a car crash, but things get worse. Funny and fun acting by the old widow amusingly played by Isabel Garcés who has always lived in his Galician village and decides on a whim to go and settle down in Madrid to help her family. A typical comedy from the early 1970s, in which a person from a rural background confronts the big city. A plot already commonly used in films starring Paco Martínez Soria, but here it is put to the service of Isabel Garcés playing Doña Emilia who lives quietly in her 'Pazo' in Lugo, when she receives the news that her son has suffered an accident. In fact, it seems like a new version of the classic "Pedro Lazaga's La ciudad no es para mi."

The film develops the classical formula: ¨Fish out water¨ , as a redneck grandmother arrives in the big city and once there, she only encounters a bustling town and she has a lot of problems that attempts to resolve , as well as a troublesome family. So, the likable granny is upsetting by the loss of moral values that governs his relatives: frivolity , egoism , duplicity and love deceits . This film is made to entertain , and this movie , especially for a good time and a pleasant entertainment and is also pretty darn funny. Sitting in a strange middle ground between the completely absurd and the stylishly enjoyable. It takes a simple concept a naive redneck goes to the busy big city, the capital of Spain: Madrid , to meet her hospitalized son, and learns he has a lover: Nadiuska ; she , then , encounters a frenetic and hostile world , and also her unhappy relatives in real problems. There are some nice jokes in the film and the cast , playing eccentric characters, make a cosy fit. The flick interweaves fun comedy along with a social criticism about the peculiar Spain of the 70s . This film packs customary images of the social life from the seventies , nutty situations, but it especially contains catching touches of humor , tongue-in-cheek and irony ; adding the typical Spanish idiosyncrasy. The film is full of familiar faces and cameos , such as: Helga Liné, Josele Román, Guadalupe Muñoz Sampedro, Francisco Cecilio, Antonio Pica, José Riesgo, Luis Barbero, Pastor Serrador, José Maria Caffarel, and, of course, the shining star of that time, Nadiuska. To date, all the main and supporting actors have passed away, except for Helga Liné, Josele Román, and the idol of the time and muse of the destape, Nadiuska, who is in a psychiatric hospital.

The motion picture was mediocre but lively directed by Vicente Escrivá. Craftsman Vicente Escrivá was a writer , producer and director, known for successful films throughout a long career with hits as Balarrasa (1951) , Sor Intrépida (1952) , Un Traje Blanco (1956) , Montoyas and Tarantos (1989) , two films starring Rafael : El Angel , El Golfo , and three starred by Maria Rosario Omaggio : Visanteta Estáte Quieta , El Virgo De Visanteta and La Lozana Andaluza . He also made some TV series, such as : Lleno Por Favor , Manos a La Obra , Farmacia De Guardia , and Réquiem en Granada at his best . Rating : 5.5/10 .
