This film regularly gets a one star rating in the film guides. Why? For this film is a short sweet joy and truly the best TV spin off film of the early 70's - it stands head and shoulders above the dire On the Buses series. The acting and writing are a joy and for once it looks as though someone actually cared about the photography and direction. Its not a million miles away from Hobson's Choice and certainly Bill Fraser, Raymond Huntley and David Battley and the rest of the well known ensemble give this Hammer lo-budget gem a touch of class. Miss it at your peril.
Generally I think I like feature-film spin-offs of TV sitcoms more than most viewers. But this is a dire example of the genre.
I suspect the actors were forced into performing in it for contractual reasons beyond their control. As revenge they then conspired to make a comedy that contained no laughs. If this was the case they were successful.

At last That's your funeral film is out on DVD. Contrary to what others have wrote in negative terms about it I like it, pity series was wiped. Film did poorly at box office for some reason. Anyway film risen from ashes so to speak. Add it to your collection! Its many critics will and have belittled series and film. It is in my opinion series the forerunner for others that were to come like In Loving Memory. So there you are then.
I can't remember seeing the TV series of the same name, but this film shows off the immense talents of Bill, Raymond and Roy superbly. The idea of a mix up with coffins is not exactly new, the plot has few surprises, but it's the sublime acting which carries the film, which follows the style of that era, mixing the trends of the younger generation with staid old timers. I enjoyed it alot.

This film is soooo good and yet others that have no idea of what they are talking about slag the film off. The film his a spin-off from the TV series of the same name, the timing of each gag and they acting is perfect no body is out of place. it includes many well known britcom actors.I Should know what i am talking about I'm only 17 and i love British comedy films in fact i have a collection of films that are worth over £300. i think that i can say that this film is one of the best from 72.
The BBC show it from time to time and it has been released on DVD in Germany.
