    Shipper episode

I re-watched this TV movie last night. It was the first time in almost 30 years, since I've seen it. What I found interesting in this version, is that Pete seems to be hinting to Linc, that he made "mistakes" in his relationship with Julie. Although he never says her name, he tells Linc, about how he has made "mistakes". This is something that I never noticed, when I first saw the movie. There is also scene when Pete and Linc are dropping Julie off and are watching her walk away from them. Pete makes a comment about how he wished had made different choices. In several scenes, Pete is watching Julie and you can see the expression in his face that he is having "wishful thinking".

Still cops on a soul beat

Six years after his prize Mod Squad broke up someone is taking potshots at Tige Andrews. The LAPD chief Simon Scott thinks it has something to do with one of the many busts his cops on a soul beat as the phrase went back in the day so he calls the group back together.

They've really separated themselves from their past lives. Hippie chick Peggy Lipton snagged herself a millionaire husband, Clarence Williams III is now a teacher, and Michael Cole is still rebellious but now a rebellious yuppie.

But the captain calls and they come running. And after that they experience some near death moments and it becomes clear that they are the targets.

Such various folks as Ross Martin, Victor Buono, John Karlen, Tom Ewell are all guest stars. Some of them actually did episodes of The Mod Squad back in the day. But after looking I found no reference to any of the show's episodes in the various arrests recounted here.

In the end it is discovered that the one doing this as a special hard on for Lipton and that's not in the traditional sense. And that person really has a rather stupid reason for hating her.

Recommended strictly for fans of the show.

    What happened to the fun?

The original show might have been dated, but it's still fun to watch. However, this reunion is a big disappointment. None of the actors seems to be having any fun, and all the trio does is walk around, walk around, ask "Where is _____?", walk around, walk around.... We hardly learn a thing about the character's lives in 1979, and their dialogue about "how things have changed" is laughable. Still, probably better than that reportedly horrible 1999 "update"!

Super Seventies: Return of the Mod Squad!

Return of the Mod Squad (1979) was a made-for-t.v. return for the young hip bunch of narcos. This time around it's a serious case for the gang. One sleazy rich dude has napped Peggy Lipton. Who has done this and way? Clarence Willaims III and the rest of the "mods" are back on the case to find one of their own. IS it any good? Well if you were a fan of this show either during it's initial run of repeats then this'll be a nice treat. But if you were the casual viewer of the show (like myself) you might not be as impressed. The movie is entertaining and I have to recommend it for fans of the show. It was nice however to see the gang back in action one last time.

For die hards or completest only.
