Here’s a trivia question for everyone: What’s the connection between Star Trek: The Original Series and the movies The Goonies, Throw Momma from the Train, and Scrooged? The answer is… Logan Ramsey, the late, great character actor whose career spanned from 1948 to 1999 and who would have turned 104 on March 21, 2025.
Star Trek fans will recall that Ramsey low-key chewed the scenery as Proconsul Claudius Marcus in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode “Bread and Circuses.” He’s the character who gave his slave, Drusilla (Lois Jewell), to Captain Kirk (William Shatner), so that Kirk could enjoy “some last hours as a man” before his execution. Sadly, Ramsey died of a heart attack at the age of 79 in 2000.
In addition to Star Trek, he counted among his many theater, movie, and television credits The Devil’s Disciple and The Great Indoors, both on stage; the films Head, Walking Tall, Any Which Way You Can,...

Welcome back to Origins, our recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, indie folk favorites The Head and the Heart return to announce their sixth album, Aperture, and break down “After the Setting Sun.”
The Head and the Heart are back to announce their sixth album, Aperture, set for release on May 9th (pre-orders are ongoing). To go along with the announcement, Consequence is premiering the album’s lead single, “After the Setting Sun,” and sharing the band’s Origins breakdown.
Aperture arrives with a sense of new for The Head and the Heart. For one, it’s their first release since signing to Verve Forecast, joining fellow folk and Americana talents like Madison Cunningham and Joy Oladokun. But perhaps more crucially, the project is the band’s first entirely self-produced album, and their first with a brand new songwriting style.

Saturday Night Live hosts are only around for a week at a time. But all it takes is for one sketch to go perfectly for that host to have a lasting impact on SNL. One host left just such an impression on cast member Mikey Day.
Day has done over 170 episodes of Saturday Night Live. He's seen countless hosts come through, starting with Margot Robbie for his first episode as a cast member in 2016. Interestingly enough, it was Robbie's Barbie co-star who made the biggest impact on Day.
In an interview with The Ringer, Day reflected on why "Beavis and Butt-Head" was his favorite sketch he'd ever done. The SNL vet gave a large portion of the credit to Ryan Gosling.
"When Gosling came on, he just completely got it," Day said. "That’s what’s cool about Ryan. He’s this beautiful movie star, but at the end of the day,...

The third season of Invincible is off and running on Prime Video. In the latest episode, "This Was Supposed to Be Easy," teenaged superhero Mark Grayson reunites with Titan, who used to be an enforcer for the crime boss Machine Head. Mark helped Titan take down Machine Head in the first season...but it was all part of Titan's play to replace his old boss. Mark ended that episode betrayed and beaten to a bloody pulp, as tends to happen to him. In the new episode, Mark once again entered into an alliance with Titan, this time against his better judgement. Titan was still playing his own game, but at least Mark didn't end up in the hospital this time.
In the first season, Titan was played by none other than Mahershala Ali, who is a big name even by the standards of this series; the man has won two Oscars.

Original “Saturday Night Live” cast member Dan Aykroyd did not make an appearance on the series’ 50th anniversary special on Sunday, but he nonetheless enjoyed watching it from home.
“All Heads up toasting triumphant SNL 50th,” Aykroyd wrote in a post on X. “Advantage of not attending — got to see every second of concert and show on TV. Quote from my children: ‘Look at daddy’s smile!’ Had it from start to finish. Congratulations Lorne. Well done as usual.”
Aykroyd bowed out of the live broadcast due to “prior commitments,” his representative told Variety. He was the only surviving original cast member to miss out — Garrett Morris appeared on stage, Laraine Newman was in a pre-taped sketch, and Jane Curtin and Chevy Chase were in the building.
Still, Aykroyd posted that day on X: “Cracking a Head with pride at having been a co-founder of SNL along with everyone we...

Last year, Saturday Night Live aired a sketch in which Ryan Gosling and Mikey Day played two complete strangers who inexplicably resemble Beavis and Butt-Head. And since pretty much any SNL sketch that seems to work will be quickly repeated until the joke is no longer funny, the pair reprised their roles for the red carpet premiere of Gosling’s movie The Fall Guy.
If this sketch proved anything, it’s that Beavis and Butt-Head are creepy as hell when brought to life with human actors. They looked less like beloved cartoon characters, and more like nightmarish David Lynch creations going through a mid-life crisis.
But weirdly enough, we were almost subjected to live-action versions of the dim-witted duo nearly three decades ago.
In 1996 Beavis and Butt-Head Do America brought the MTV characters to the big screen for the first time, with a cross-country animated adventure that featured the voices of stars like Demi Moore,...

Shrek and the Minions will both be on the big screen in 2026.
Universal Pictures announced Friday that the highly-anticipated animated movies are swapping their theatrical release dates, with DreamWorks Animation’s “Shrek 5” pushing back from July 1, 2026 to Wednesday, Dec. 23, while Illumination’s “Minions 3” moves into that summer 2026 window from its planned June 30, 2027 date.
Universal has also shifted the release of an untitled Illumination event film from March 19, 2027 to the June date.

Beginning with 2001’s “Shrek” (which won the first Oscar for best animated feature), the four “Shrek” films have earned more than $2.9 billion worldwide, spawning a global live-touring show and an award-winning Broadway musical that earned eight Tony nominations and 12 Drama Desk nominations,...

Amid recent speculation of a possible sequel for The Holiday, Kate Winslet has shared her thoughts on the matter with Deadline.
On Friday, during an interview about her new film Lee, in which she stars as photographer Lee Miller, Winslet laid The Holiday sequel drama to rest—at least, from her point of view. “Honestly, it’s never come up,” she said. “I promise you.”
Winslet’s Holiday co-star Jude Law caused major excitement last week when he temporarily re-enacted his character’s famous ‘bit’ as ‘Mr. Napkin Head’. The moment happened during a lunch Law was having with the film’s writer-director Nancy Meyers, following his star-receiving ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Meyers asked Law if he thought there was going to be a sequel and he responded by putting his napkin on his head like his Holiday character. Then, when Meyers posted the video of Law’s napkin antics on Instagram,...

It's the holiday season, and families everywhere are gathering together to watch a Christmas classic — or congregating in different rooms, watching different films on different streaming apps, ignoring each other. Either way, Christmas movies are shooting into the top 10 lists of most streamers. But instead of re-watching Elf or Love, Actually for the 800th time, why not give a new, underappreciated Christmas film a go? There are dozens to choose from, as new Christmas films are released each day during the holiday season. 2017's The Star is the Christmas film you'll wish you had watched years ago, and it's currently racing up Netflix's streaming chart.
The Star is currently available to stream on Netflix, and sits at #7 on the streamer's Top 10 most popular movies of the week. Released in 2017, the film depicts the birth of Jesus on the very first Christmas Day through the eyes of the different animals in attendance.

Jude Law has his suave, talent, and he’s been melting hearts since his breakout days. From playing the dreamy Graham in The Holiday, (the one who made everyone swoon with his Mr. Napkin Head bit), to stealing scenes in Sherlock Holmes and Fantastic Beats, Law had quite the Hollywood ride. But how much did this dashing Brit make and is worth in 2024?

Well, with a career spanning decades, it’s no surprise the Law has been on top of his game and earning blockbuster paychecks backed by awards. Whether charming us in romantic comedies or taking on the wizarding world, he has perfectly stayed relevant in an ever-changing industry. Disney animated films tell emotionally rich stories, with plenty of tear-jerking moments. They're known for their lively characters who go on potentially dangerous adventures, led by their intention to do good, in search of their destiny, and driven by the wish to fulfill their dreams. Their journey is frequently one of transformation, changing their worldview and sense of self throughout the movie. Of course, these titles are unmistakably known for Disney's catchiest songs that fascinate viewers of all ages, who join in to sing along.
While the canon of animated Disney movies may not technically include Pixar films, when considering heartwarming and hilarious animated titles by Disney, Pixar movies are inevitably included. However, while the emotional weight, tears, meaningful character moments, and songs characterize these Disney films, they're also known for laugh-out-loud moments that highlight the comedic talents of the writers and the voice actors.

Heidi Gardner is reliving the Saturday Night Live sketch that made her completely lose it during the live show.
Earlier this year, Gardner broke character during a Beavid & Butt-Head spoof and explains why she thinks she cracked up looking at her co-star Mikey Day.
“I find it a big source of pride that I never break — even though it’s so lovable and likable…I don’t want to use it as a crutch,” Gardner said on the Not Skinny but Not Fat podcast. “In that one I was the straight man, and you really want to get out all the information for all the fun stuff that’s going to happen.”
Gardner played a NewsNation journalist holding a town hall about A.I., with Kenan Thompson playing an MIT professor. As the pair discussed A.I., Thompson’s character was distracted by an audience member who looked strikingly similar to Beavis,...

Exclusive: In a week that controversy surrounding Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story was generating headlines aplenty for Netflix, an old British show quietly slipped into the streamer’s UK top 10, neatly demonstrating something of a 2024 viewing trend.
The Toby Jones-starring drama series Capital premiered on the BBC in 2015 and yet here it was sitting sixth in Netflix’s most-watched list after being acquired by the streamer almost a decade later.
The show made a bit of a splash when it launched on the BBC years ago, but didn’t exactly go gangbusters. Yet in the past few weeks, the internet has been awash with article headlines such as “Netflix has just quietly added a forgotten BBC masterpiece” in relation to the rather parochial Capital, which starred Jones as one of the residents of a road in South London who starts receiving unsettling postcards.

It's absurd to consider, but early in his career Jack Nicholson had a difficult decision to make. The New Jersey son of a showgirl had a shot at being an animator for Joseph Hanna and William Barbera in the 1950s, but the then teenager had his heart set on acting. This was not the difficult decision. That would come years later when, after a string of prominent roles in Roger Corman-produced B-movies, Nicholson wrote a well-regarded screenplay called "The Trip." It was so good that it left burgeoning movie star Peter Fonda in tears. This reception was ecstatic enough to convince Corman to direct it himself. And while Fonda was ultimately displeased with the final result, Nicholson immediately landed another screenwriting assignment collaborating with Bob Rafelson on the script for the absurdist Monkees comedy "Head."

Silent Hill 2 was released in 2001 and recently just got a very successful remake. Recently, Masahiro Ito, the game’s art director, confirmed that the creature’s origin is rooted in reality within the game’s universe. Silent Hill 2’s Pyramid Head remains one of the most chilling and memorable creatures in survival horror history.

Piglets series 2 has been confirmed by ITV, with the cast and crew returning for a new bunch of episodes. More here.
Green Wing is one of the most memorable comedies of the early 2000s. Following the trials and tribulations of the staff who populate East Hampton Hospital, the writing was frequently silly and surreal, and it featured star making turns from the likes of Tamsin Greig, Stephen Mangan and Michelle Gomez.
Underrated comedy Campus followed a similar scenario, this time in the fictional Kirke University, where Andy Nyman’s domineering don Jonty De Wolfe ruled with an iron fist. That series has also built up quite a fanbase, and earlier this year the same creative team made police sitcom Piglets. Which is what brought us to here.

“It’s not for us.” Anyone who has ever pitched a movie has heard those words. But when Luis Ortega was looking for financing for his latest feature, the surrealist, gender-bending Kill the Jockey, he heard it a lot.
It didn’t matter that Ortega’s work had been making waves in Argentine cinema since his first feature, 2003’s Caja Negra, or that his prior feature, El Angel, competed in Un Certain Regard in Cannes in 2019. Kill the Jockey, about a jockey whose identity — already fragmented by trauma, drugs and alcohol — repeatedly transforms following a racing accident and its accompanying head injury, was just too esoteric.
“This movie is not pitchable,” Ortega admits.
Another potential reason for all those passes? “Pineapple Head. That’s [what] the film was called,” Ortega says, alluding to a homeless man in Buenos Aires who — walking around the city in a fur coat, one sandal and one woman’s high-heeled shoe,...

Jude Law’s most beloved character Mr. Napkin Head almost had a very different origin story.
While fans of Nancy Meyers’ 2006 “The Holiday” are well-versed in the lore of Law’s single father character donning a white napkin over his face and wearing glasses, it turns out that the bit was originally for an entirely different movie: “Alfie.”
Law told Variety that the Mr. Napkin Head scene was cut from the 2004 feature, and Meyers took inspiration from it.
“I’d actually done Mr. Napkin Head before,” Law says. “I did ‘Alfie’ with Charles Shyer, who had been married to Nancy Meyers. And Charles included Mr. Napkin Head in ‘Alfie,’ but the scene got cut. And then I did Nancy’s film, and Mr. Napkin Head was in that.”

The game of Big Brother slightly changed for season 26. The season started with the Head of Household (Hoh) nominating three people instead of two. Houseguests compete in the veto competition which can change a nomination and leave the Hoh to replace that person. Those nominees then competed in the Bb A.I. Arena to win the chance of taking themselves off the block. This made the outcome of the week more unpredictable.

Entertainment lost one of its most vivacious talents today with the passing of Teri Garr at the age of 79. Big Brother 24 alum Matt Turner got married this weekend. He tied the knot at a beautiful ceremony and shared the fun photos online.
Turner was featured during the Big Brother 2022 season, where Taylor Hale was named the winner of Monte Taylor.
A unique houseguest who went by his last name during the season, Turner shared with everyone that he owned a thrift store called The Rug Shack.
Turner’s girlfriend, Megan Belmonte, was a frequent topic of conversation. He missed her a lot while stuck in the Big Brother house.
Turner had an impressive run on BB24, making it to the final three, but he lost the third round of the final Head of Household Competition and, with it, his shot at the $750,000 prize. Monte chose to take Taylor to the end instead of Turner.
Shortly after leaving the Big Brother house, Turner and Megan announced they were engaged.

Big Brother season 26 has come to an end, but the delusional Cam Sullivan-Brown is keeping us entertained. In a post-season interview with Julie Chen Moonves, Cam said some things that can best be describe as “delusional”, according to fans.
One thing that Cam said in the interview with Julie, was that if he had won the final Head of Household competition, he would have taken Chelsie Baham to the final two. This comes as a shock, considering Cam had previously told Makensy Manbeck (and the rest of the Big Brother house) that getting Chelsie out of the game would be a resume-building move.
As we all know, Cam didn’t have much of a resume throughout the BB26 season. And, many times he tried to plead a case to the current Hoh, he was shot down. So, not only did he not win a lot of comps, but he also...

Big Brother 26 winner Chelsie Baham revealed that, if she had become the final Head of Household (Hoh) of the season, she would've kept her promise to Makensy Manbeck and taken her to the final two with her. Chelsie won Part 1 of the final Big Brother 26 Hoh competition, while Makensy won Part 2. When they faced off during Part 3, Makensy won, and she brought Chelsie with her to the Final 2 instead of Cam Sullivan-Brown. However, Makensy ended up losing to Chelsie, who was crowned the winner in a unanimous vote by the jury of seven.
Chelsie shared that she would've taken Makensy to the end with her if she'd been the final Big Brother 26 Hoh.
In a Big Brother Instagram post, Chelsie shared that she would've taken Makensy to the end with her if she'd been the final Big Brother 26 Hoh. Chelsie said, "If roles were reversed, I would take Makensy to the Final 2 as well.
