Here’s a trivia question for everyone: What’s the connection between Star Trek: The Original Series and the movies The Goonies, Throw Momma from the Train, and Scrooged? The answer is… Logan Ramsey, the late, great character actor whose career spanned from 1948 to 1999 and who would have turned 104 on March 21, 2025.

Star Trek fans will recall that Ramsey low-key chewed the scenery as Proconsul Claudius Marcus in the Star Trek: The Original Series episode “Bread and Circuses.” He’s the character who gave his slave, Drusilla (Lois Jewell), to Captain Kirk (William Shatner), so that Kirk could enjoy “some last hours as a man” before his execution. Sadly, Ramsey died of a heart attack at the age of 79 in 2000.

Last week, Activision announced remakes of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 set for release on July 11th. Now, the publisher has revealed the remasters will not only come with revamped graphics and gameplay, but an updated soundtrack featuring music new to the games.

Already available to stream on Spotify, the official Thps 3 + 4 soundtrack features classics from the original games like Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades,” Cky’s “96 Quite Bitter Beings,” and Gang Starr’s “Mass Appeal” alongside more current songs.

These include Turnstile’s “Real Thing,” ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar’s “Collard Greens,” Run the Jewels’ “yankee and the brave,” Jeff Rosenstock’s “Head,” and Denzel Curry’s “Ultimate.”

Welcome back to Origins, our recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, indie folk favorites The Head and the Heart return to announce their sixth album, Aperture, and break down “After the Setting Sun.”

The Head and the Heart are back to announce their sixth album, Aperture, set for release on May 9th (pre-orders are ongoing). To go along with the announcement, Consequence is premiering the album’s lead single, “After the Setting Sun,” and sharing the band’s Origins breakdown.

Aperture arrives with a sense of new for The Head and the Heart. For one, it’s their first release since signing to Verve Forecast, joining fellow folk and Americana talents like Madison Cunningham and Joy Oladokun. But perhaps more crucially, the project is the band’s first entirely self-produced album, and their first with a brand new songwriting style.

Saturday Night Live hosts are only around for a week at a time. But all it takes is for one sketch to go perfectly for that host to have a lasting impact on SNL. One host left just such an impression on cast member Mikey Day.

Day has done over 170 episodes of Saturday Night Live. He's seen countless hosts come through, starting with Margot Robbie for his first episode as a cast member in 2016. Interestingly enough, it was Robbie's Barbie co-star who made the biggest impact on Day.

The third season of Invincible is off and running on Prime Video. In the latest episode, "This Was Supposed to Be Easy," teenaged superhero Mark Grayson reunites with Titan, who used to be an enforcer for the crime boss Machine Head. Mark helped Titan take down Machine Head in the first season...but it was all part of Titan's play to replace his old boss. Mark ended that episode betrayed and beaten to a bloody pulp, as tends to happen to him. In the new episode, Mark once again entered into an alliance with Titan, this time against his better judgement. Titan was still playing his own game, but at least Mark didn't end up in the hospital this time.

In the first season, Titan was played by none other than Mahershala Ali, who is a big name even by the standards of this series; the man has won two Oscars.

Original “Saturday Night Live” cast member Dan Aykroyd did not make an appearance on the series’ 50th anniversary special on Sunday, but he nonetheless enjoyed watching it from home.

“All Heads up toasting triumphant SNL 50th,” Aykroyd wrote in a post on X. “Advantage of not attending — got to see every second of concert and show on TV. Quote from my children: ‘Look at daddy’s smile!’ Had it from start to finish. Congratulations Lorne. Well done as usual.”

Aykroyd bowed out of the live broadcast due to “prior commitments,” his representative told Variety. He was the only surviving original cast member to miss out — Garrett Morris appeared on stage, Laraine Newman was in a pre-taped sketch, and Jane Curtin and Chevy Chase were in the building.

Universal Pictures announced Friday that the highly-anticipated animated movies are swapping their theatrical release dates, with DreamWorks Animation’s “Shrek 5” pushing back from July 1, 2026 to Wednesday, Dec. 23, while Illumination’s “Minions 3” moves into that summer 2026 window from its planned June 30, 2027 date.

It's absurd to consider, but early in his career Jack Nicholson had a difficult decision to make. The New Jersey son of a showgirl had a shot at being an animator for Joseph Hanna and William Barbera in the 1950s, but the then teenager had his heart set on acting. This was not the difficult decision. That would come years later when, after a string of prominent roles in Roger Corman-produced B-movies, Nicholson wrote a well-regarded screenplay called "The Trip." Green Wing is one of the most memorable comedies of the early 2000s. Following the trials and tribulations of the staff who populate East Hampton Hospital, the writing was frequently silly and surreal, and it featured star making turns from the likes of Tamsin Greig, Stephen Mangan and Michelle Gomez.

“It’s not for us.” Anyone who has ever pitched a movie has heard those words. But when Luis Ortega was looking for financing for his latest feature, the surrealist, gender-bending Kill the Jockey, he heard it a lot.

It didn’t matter that Ortega’s work had been making waves in Argentine cinema since his first feature, 2003’s Caja Negra, or that his prior feature, El Angel, competed in Un Certain Regard in Cannes in 2019.
