To much surprise of the fans, Apple TV+‘s newly launched show, Chief of War, is mostly filmed in New Zealand. The show has aired its awe-inspiring 2 episodes on the platform on 1st August, 2025. From the beautiful-looking Hawaiian islands to telling a story that is as insightful and well-thought-out as it should be, after drawing constant comparisons with the Vikings.
Starring, co-creating, and executive produced by Jason Momoa, the show is a milestone for Kānaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) representation on screen. Therefore, a question arises as to why a show so deeply rooted in Hawaiian history and culture was filmed predominantly in the southern part of the world. While the Chief of War did spend about a month filming in Hawaii, the bulk of the production was done in Aotearoa (New Zealand), and the reasons are primarily financial and logistical. Let’s dig deeper into it.

When the movie world lost the great Michael Madsen in late July, the tributes poured in. Now, Quentin Tarantino – who directed Madsen in Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood – is paying the ultimate one, sitting down for a nearly four-hour podcast where he also provided his personal top 10 of all things Michael Madsen.
In the latest episode of Pure Cinema Podcast, Quentin Tarantino said that the death of Michael Madsen is one that has had a tremendous impact on him, more than many of his other collaborators from the past. “A lot of people were making announcements about him, and I’m not on social media, and it’s just kind of awesome…Not my thing to kind of play out poignancy publicly. The premise of Glen A. Larson's 1978 sci-fi series "Battlestar Galactica" was high-concept and complex. It took place far from Earth, at the end of humanity's millennium-long war with a species of robots called the Cylons. The Cylons themselves were built by a long-extinct race of humanoid reptiles, and they seem poised to offer the same fate to humankind. Feeling that the writing was on the wall, a human named Count Baltar (John Colicos) betrayed humanity by siding with the Cylons, putting the robots hot on the trail of the Battlestar Galactica, a massive starship carrying most of the galaxy's last-known humans. Their goal is to find a long-lost "thirteenth tribe," a human colony that was said to have settled on a distant planet called Earth.
The assumption for viewers was that "Battlestar Galactica" was set in the distant future, but at the end of the 24th episode of its only season,...

The Intelligence Unit has gained a new asset. Following Toya Turner’s surprise departure as Officer Kiana Cook after Chicago P.D.Season 12, a new report confirms that her replacement has been named as the upcoming season approaches. Arienne Mandi, most recently seen in The Night Agent Season 2, is joining Chicago P.D. as a series regular. After Turner’s exit, reports indicated that the show was searching for a “loose cannon” character with a military background — a search that ultimately led to Mandi’s casting. She brings plenty of procedural experience to the role, with credits in NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, and Hawaii Five-o. Mandi is also no stranger to the Dick Wolf universe, having recently appeared inFBI Season 7.
Mandi will play a Chicago P.D. officer named Naomi Kerr, described as a former soldier and military contractor who thrives in high-pressure and dangerous situations. She is characterized as a...

More than a year after CBS ended NCIS: Hawai'i, a cast member posted an update regarding the show's former set, which is likely to frustrate fans who were previously upset over its cancelation. CBS nixed the police procedural series from its programming schedule a week before its season 3 finale was to air. Consequently, the last episode of NCIS: Hawai'i season 3 doubled as its series finale. Many viewers were disappointed about the cancelation, sharing their frustrations on social media and through petitions to save the show. Unfortunately, their attempts were unsuccessful.
Jason Antoon, who starred as Ernie Malik in NCIS: Hawai'i, shared a video on his X account revealing what the Hawaii Film Studio in Honolulu looks like today (in June 2025). The post's caption reads, "Hawaii Film Studios - Empty and full of weeds," which just about describes the set's desertion. As some might know, CBS canceled the NCIS offshoot partly due to budget concerns.

A sequel to any Quentin Tarantino film, unless pre-planned like the Kill Bill movies, seems farcical and not realistic. But that might not be the case. Netflix's rumored Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel appears to have real teeth.
This is based on the announcement that the project has added two actors to the cast. They are Elizabeth Debicki of The Crown and The Night Manager fame, and Scott Caan, well-known for his roles in Hawaii Five-o and the Ocean's trilogy. The announcement was confirmed by Variety.
While Tarantino is not expected to direct, he is writing the script. But don't be alarmed. The director is still going to be high-quality because David Fincher is attached to do so.

Netflix's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood sequel has added two prominent stars to its cast. Brad Pitt is already confirmed to be reprising his role of Cliff Booth in the David Fincher-directed film, which will serve as a follow-up to the adventures of the fan-favorite Quentin Tarantino character. The movie is based on a script that Tarantino previously wrote and production is expected to begin in July.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan have now joined the cast as well. Both Debicki and Caan's roles remain under wraps. There are reportedly two key female roles, with one character running a bar and mud wrestling establishment and the other being a trophy wife, but it is unconfirmed if Debicki will be playing either of these characters. Caan's involvement marks a reunion with Pitt, as the two of them starred in the Ocean's Eleven movie trilogy together.

David Fincher is heading back to Hollywood — literally. The acclaimed director is officially directing a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood for Netflix, and now, the cast is starting to come together. While details on the project remain locked tighter than the Manson house, it's now emerged today that Elizabeth Debicki and Scott Caan have joined the film, starring alongside Brad Pitt, who is returning as stuntman-turned-legend Cliff Booth, as per THR.
The still-officially-untitled feature is being fast-tracked by Netflix, where Fincher has a first-look deal, and is gearing up to shoot this July in California. According to insiders, Netflix reportedly shelled out over $20 million just for the screenplay — an unprecedented move for a script Quentin Tarantino didn’t intend to direct himself. The budget is said to be pushing $200 million, making this one of the streamer’s biggest gambles yet.

David Fincher’s sequel to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is casting up as it prepares for a summer start of production.
Scott Caan and Elizabeth Debicki are joining Brad Pitt in the feature that is being made by Netflix.
Much of the project is shrouded in secrecy, but it is known to center on Cliff Booth, the former stuntman and body double to TV actor Rick Dalton, as seen in Tarantino’s 2019 film. It is set in a later time period than that movie. It is unclear how much of the material, if any, is based on Tarantino’s 2021 novel by the same name and which revealed more of Cliff’s backstory, including the death of his wife.
The story’s origins lie in a script that Tarantino wrote for himself to direct, but eventually put it aside. Pitt convinced the filmmaker to let Fincher...

Her rep Harlan Boll said she died of natural causes.
For her work on “Mash” Swit was Emmy nominated for outstanding performance by a supporting actress in a comedy every year from 1974-83, winning the Emmy in 1980 and 1982.
Her “Mash” co-star Alan Alda remembered her on X, writing “Loretta was a supremely talented actor. She deserved all her 10 Emmy nominations and her 2 wins. But more than acting her part, she created it. She worked hard In showing the writing staff how they could turn the character from a one joke sexist stereotype into a real person — with real feelings and ambitions. It's strange to think that one of the best characters in "Hawaii Five-o" didn't actually show up until season 4, and didn't become a main character until season 5. Jorge Garcia's Jerry Ortega debuted in "Ka 'oia'i'o ma lok," introduced as a childhood friend of Chin Ho Kelly (Daniel Dae Kim). Ortega is a conspiracy theorist, but luckily, he's the fun kind of conspiracy theorist. He's someone with an earnest curiosity about the world who approaches his theories with a sense of childlike wonder.
In season 5, Ortega is hired to help the Five-o team on a regular basis. By season 6, he's got his own office and by season 7, he's got an official badge. It seemed like Ortega was here to stay, but in the season 10 premiere, he left the show for good. So, what's up with that? Why would Ortega leave the Five-o team? And more importantly, why would Jorge Garcia...
