Mild Sexploitation Farrago Fails to Maintain Interest

This pretentious Danish-Swedish co-production develops into a mild but uninteresting sexploitation drama. The story opens in a train compartment occupied by Harriet Andersson, a dancer, and Eric Wedersoe, a student, and in short order the two irrationally make love in the bathroom, kicking off a ridiculous series of confusing fantasies in which Ms. Andersson pops in and out of numerous beds while on tour. The paltry, disjointed plot causes the film to collapse into a cheap erotic heap, which even the nominally lurid excitement of including a rapist subplot cannot boost the disheartening tone. The filmmakers gussied up the visual style, including color sequences mixed with sepia tone sequences, in a halfhearted effort to make this clutter interesting. In the U.S., the movie was slapped with an X rating in 1969, which spelled doom at the box office.

    • Trivia
Though scheduled to be shown in the March 1968 Mar del Plata festival in Argentina, the censorship under the increasingly repressive military government prevented it's being projected, after the first twenty minutes were shown,on the grounds that it showed a tendency toward pornography.
