The Stephen King Alter-Ego That Inspired A George Romero Horror Movie
Image
Stephen King can't stop. The best-selling horror novelist is nothing if not prolific, churning out books on a steady, unstoppable pace for decades now. For years, King said in interviews that the only days he didn't write were Christmas and on his birthday. Later, he admitted that was a lie — he wrote on those days, too. When you write that often, you produce a lot of work. But as King's career began in earnest following the publication of his debut novel "Carrie" in 1974, the publishing world had a curious rule: authors should only publish one book per year. That wasn't good enough for King — he wanted more.

"I've been asked several times if ... I thought I was overpublishing the market as Stephen King," King wrote later. "The answer is no. I didn't think I was overpublishing the market ... but my publishers did." King struck upon a solution to publish more...

28 Years Later: Cillian Murphy Officially Set To Reprise 28 Days Later Role For Horror Sequel
Image
We got word earlier this year that 28 Days Later director (Danny Boyle) and writer (Alex Garland) are teaming up for a series of sequels to the 2002 horror hit, and following the recent news that Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Ralph Fiennes have signed on to play the lead roles, it's been confirmed that Cillian Murphy will return for 28 Years Later.

There was speculation that Murphy, who won the Best Actor Academy Award for his performance in Oppenheimer, might be set to reprise the role of Jim from the original movie when he signed on as an executive producer, and Sony has now made it official.

"Yes, but in a surprising way and in a way that grows, let me put it that way," Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman told Deadline when asked if Murphy would return. "This is Danny [Boyle] at his best, combined with a very commercial genre,...

Cillian Murphy will be part of 28 Years Later 'in a surprising way'
Image
More information is coming in about the upcoming 28 Days Later sequel, 28 Years Later, the start of a new trilogy of sequels from Sony. Previously, we reported that 28 Days Later star and Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy would return as an executive producer role for the upcoming movie currently slated for a June 2025 release, but a new report suggests Murphy will reprise his original role as the bike courier Jim.

Speaking exclusively to Deadline, Sony Motion Pictures Group chairman Tom Rothman revealed that Murphy's role in the 2025 movie will be a "surprising one" that "grows."

He didn't reveal anything else about Murphy's role, but he praised director Danny Boyle, who returns to helm the sequel alongside screenwriter Alex Garland.

This is Danny at his best, combined with a very commercial genre, like we had with Edgar Wright and 'Baby Driver.' Sometimes when you put a real signature director into a commercial arena,...

Kerry King’s ‘From Hell I Rise’: Meet the New Slayer, Same as the Old Slayer
Image
The first solo album from former Slayer guitarist Kerry King is basically the “Still D.R.E.” of thrash metal.

But where Dr. Dre wanted to remind his fans that he was still puffin’ his leafs, still fucking with beats, and still not lovin’ police after close to a decade’s absence, King wants his fans to understand that even though Slayer are essentially hellbound, he’s still Satan’s preeminent ambassador with furious, jagged riffs and sweet nothings like “Crucifixation” and “Everything I Hate About You.” On From Hell I Rise,...

King’s band is comprised of fellow thrash vets including drummer Paul Bostaph (Slayer), bassist Kyle Sanders (Hellyeah), guitarist Phil Demmel (ex-Machine Head), and Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda.

The all-star group opened the show with the live debut of three From Hell I Rise tracks before dipping into the Slayer discography for “Repentless.”

From there, the setlist scattered a handful of other Slayer cuts from various eras among most of the songs from From Hell I Rise. The 17-song set concluded with a crushing back-to-back combo of Slayer staples “Raining Blood” and “Black Magic” that led into the finale of the new...

Akira Toriyama Gave Trunks Not 1 But 2 Useless Super Saiyan Forms Goku and Vegeta Won’t be Caught Dead Using
Image
Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super featured Future Trunks, who quickly stood out from its vast array of characters, as he was given a few emotional moments with his father, Vegeta. His story is different from others, where he is shown how his world was eradicated by the Androids in Dbz, and again by Goku Black and Zamasu in Dbs. Despite having a tragic background, there’s no denying that Future Trunks fights for a greater cause like he did in the Cell Saga and the Goku Black Saga.

Future Trunks in Dragon Ball Super

However, what stood out was how there was one particular aspect of his development that made him stand out which was quite baseless to be used. Toriyama-Sensei featured our Saiyan with two Ssj forms, which was quite useless; to explain how useless it was, Kakarot and The Prince of All Saiyans would never use it,...

Since then starring as Jamie Dutton in Yellowstone. the actor has done a lot in his career to account for many milestones.

Bentley believes that both the actors had something in common. However, as time went by, the trait they once shared was lost to one. He since has also stated his dismay about the same, regretting having to go awry from a path he once sought refuge in.

Dungeons & Dragons reviews surface out of SXSW
Image
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves premiered on Friday at SXSW and the early reviews are praising the characters, creatures, action, and even humor. Notably, some of the reviews are even saying that Honor Among Thieves might not just be for fans of the roleplaying game, but has potential to crossover to even those who have never pulled an all-nighter in a dingy, Mountain Dew-soaked basement.

Check out some of the reactions below:

The new Dungeons And Dragons movie is a whole lot of fun. Once you settle into the world, it turns into one of the most entertaining fantasy films I’ve seen in awhile. Great characters, wild quests, crazy creatures & it’s very funny. Big recommend from me#DnDHonorAmongThieves pic.twitter.com/GOYtX3FT3b

The Last Of Us Cast And Crew Weren't Allowed To Use The Word 'Zombie'
Image
At first glance, the Infected that terrorize the characters of HBO's "The Last of Us" could be confused for zombies. After all, the common perception of zombies is that of shambling, mindless corpses; even though the early 2000s saw several examples of zombies who can bolt after their prey, they were consistently uncoordinated. Of course, this is likely because they had no real brain function, but that's not really the point. The point is that zombie media has frequently abided by a couple of universal "truths" regarding the undead creatures, and on a surface level, the fungi-growing Infected might seem to follow these truths.

However, the word "zombie" was reportedly banned from being uttered on the set of the buzzy HBO adaptation. The Motion Picture Association interviewed the show's cinematographer, Eben Bolter, about bringing Naughty Dog's seminal survival horror to the small screen. During their discussion, he revealed that...

Nandi Bushell Takes on Whiplash-Inspired Cover of Duke Ellington’s “Caravan”: Watch
Image
Nandi Bushell has taken on Duke Ellington’s jazz standard “Caravan,” which she describes as “the most difficult drum cover I have ever made.” The performance was inspired by the song’s prominent placement in the 2014 film Whiplash, starring Miles Teller as an ambitious young drummer named Andrew Neiman. Watch it below.

“Learning ‘Caravan’ from the movie Whiplash took me 3 months,” our 2021 Rookie of the Year revealed in the YouTube description. “First I needed to learn new techniques, then memorize all the sheet music. [It] was hard! I pushed myself and practiced so much. It took a week of trying to film. This song takes so much energy and stamina. I needed to concentrate like I had never concentrated before.”

She continued, “It was not easy! I kept on practicing. I love to keep improving and getting better. I wonder how I will play this song in a few more years.

Nicolas Cage Talks Holy Grail Searches and Monopoly With Johnny Depp
Nicolas Cage at an event for Hell Driver (2011)
Nicolas Cage is opening up about some wild new life stories.

In a New York Times Magazine profile, the “National Treasure” actor detailed some of his crazier experiences with dangerous king cobras, his friendship with Johnny Depp and a very literal search for the Holy Grail in Rhode Island. See the biggest talking points from the conversation below.

1. Cage’s pet king cobras inspired his “Ghostrider: Spirit of Vengeance” character after they tried to kill him.

When Cage’s two pet cobras tried to attack him, they didn’t just threaten his life — they also inspired his character in “Ghostrider: Spirit of Vengeance.” As the two snakes prepared to strike, Cage says they swayed from side to side, a motion Cage adopted for Johnny Blaze who does a similar movement before attacking. But don’t worry, he’s since gotten rid of the snakes. “After I told that story on...
