Love drama set in Sevilla and Huelva, starred by a popular trio : Carmen Sevilla, Francisco Rabal and Arturo Fernandez

It deals with Esperanza Aguilar : Carmen Sevilla, his scrounger boyfriend Alberto Echeve : Arturo Fernandez , son of the wealthy widow Martina : Maria Luisa Ponte. Alberto is a real parasite who lives of his mother by playing cards, betting and driving his lush cars in high speed. While Esperanza's father, Fernando Aguilar : Guillermo Marin does business with the widow and has a Cortijo whose foreman is Jose Antonio : Francisco Rabal who secretly loves to Esperanza. Things go wrong when the hedonistic Jose Antonio : Arturo Fernandez, his fiancee Esperanza and her sister : Concha Goyanes have a serious car accident.

This is a drama about Andalucian social habits with emotion, Folkloric dances and songs, along with a triangular romance. Being based on the novel "La Virgen Del Rocio Entro en la Triana". The three main and known characters are the always beautiful Carmen Sevilla in her top-splendor, Arturo Fernandez as the Bon Vivant, high-living young who loves drinking and cars, while Francisco Rabal is the upright foreman to compete for the love of Esperanza/Carmen Sevilla. They are well assisted by a good support cast, such as : Concha Goyanes, her American fiance played by Robert Royal, the likeable Julia Caba Alba as uncle Rosa, Maria Luisa Ponte, Jose Orjas, Sancho Garcia as a doctor, and Alicia Hermida as a maid.

It displays a colorful and brilliant cinematography by Jose F Aguayo. Including spectacular images from Sevilla feast and Camino del Rocio and the breathtaking proccession of the Virgin of Rocio with pleny of people surrounding. As well as evocative musical by Augusto Alguero - who married Carmen Sevilla- and catching songs, most of them performed by Carmen herself. The picture was professionally directed by Rafael Gil. This filmmaker is considered one of the best in the Francoist period. During the 40s and 50s made some notorious films in black and white, some of them are deemed to be Spanish classic movies, such as : La Guerra De Dios, La Calle Sin Sol, Mare Nostrum, El Clavo, Don Quijote de la Mancha, Teatro Apolo, La Reina Santa, La Señora De Fatima, La Fe, El Beso de Judas, El Gran Galeoto, among others. Rating : 6/10. The movie will appeal to Carmen Sevilla, Arturo Fernandez and Francisco Rabal fans.
