An original stroke of casting genius

Though it only lasted two seasons Mr. Adams And Eve had a devoted fan base which you would expect from real life movie stars Howard Duff and Ida Lupino each with their own legion of fans, separate and apart.

In an original stroke of casting genius Duff and Lupino play movie stars Howard Adams and Eve Drake married to each other. The show purportedly showed their domestic life which was not terribly different from a lot of the blue collar and white collar families of other 50s. Visiting them often was Lee Patrick playing Ida's mother also an actress of a different generation. The couple had a most practical down to earth maid in Olive Carey.

A curious blend of studio and domestic problems characterized Mr. Adams And Eve. The dialog was witty and sharp. And Duff and Lupino both of whom never were known for comedy on the big screen handle it well on the small.

Because it was in black and white there's less likelihood of the show being picked up by o of the cable nostalgia channels. A pity.
