This one deals with a father and sons driving their cattle next to Sacramento , when some bandits attack the family, killing them and robbing 200 cows. But one member of the unfortunate family stays alive. He is Mike Preston : Mickey Hargitay, and he swears a merciless vengeance against the killers and rustlers. Along the way, he saves a desperado called Chris : Aldo Berti about to be hanged and both of whom make fine friendship, even competing between them to shoot cigarrette on their mouth. Later on, Mike is accused of a crime and imprisoned at the local jail by the stiff sheriff but his new friend Chris helps him escape from prison and they go after the prime suspect, Bennet : Luciano Benetti, to vindicate his father and brothers' deaths.
Typical Spaghetti Western with no much interest, including thrills, noisy action, fights, go riding, shootouts and violent confrontation . Stars Mickey Hargitay a hunk man who emigrated to Italy to play usual Peplums such as : "Adventures of Hercules" , "Vendetta of Gladiators" and habitual Pasta Westerns such as "Three bullets for Ringo" , "Sheriff doesn't shoot", "Cjamango" . But his greatest hit was to marry the buxon Jayne Mansfield and give birth to Mariska Hargitay of Law and Order, Special Victims Unit series.
It contains a lousy and dark cinematography by Bitto Albertini, who curiously is screenwriter, too. Furthermore, an atmospheric musical score in Spaghetti style by Felice Di Stefano. Being really necessary a correct remastering because the film copy is worn-out. The picture was regularly directed by Sergio Bergonzelli. He was an artisan who made the ordinary Italian subgenres of the 60s, 70s and 80s. As he directed Spaghetti Western : Colt in the hand of the Devil, Cisco, The Last Gun, A stranger in Sacramento , Giallo : In the folds of the Flesh, Adventures: Surcouf, Sea Pirate, Seven in the Sun, Diamond Connection, Terror : Blood Delirium and Erotic genre : Tentazione, Malizia, School of Erotic enjoyment, Joy , Dirty World, Taxi Love, among others. Rating : 4.5/10. Mediocre and run-of-the-mill Spaghetti Western.
