LAST OF THE 1960S "HERCULES" ERA MOVIES.

Most of this movie "appears" to be a Spaghetti Western but at the end Alan Steel (still in great shape), starts swinging chains and tears down the Aztec/Inca temple. This isn't any different than all the previous Hercules style movies from the 1960s. There is a nice story and strange casting blend from many countries. It is the last of its kind, so enjoy it. I first saw this on TV in 1967. There is an English version with the title of ARIZONA KID that was shown on TV. The current available copy has that English dialogue and the missing parts in Italian with English subs. This movie was made at the end of the Sword & Sandal cycle and only include 2 minutes of Hercules type scenes. After the Spanish conquered the Aztecs in the 1500s, a small group of Aztecs escaped north to what is now Arizona, with a vast treasure of gold. This "last tribe" built a "hidden city" in the "great stone desert" where they existed in peace until a lost map leads all the local townsfolk on a treasure hunt. The evil group, lead by Mario Petri, (the town boss), arrive at the city first before Alan Steel's good guys. They arrive at a rock face with two Golden Doors which magically open. How is that a HIDDEN CITY? Anyone could easily find the place. After the two groups try to destroy each other and run out of bullets, the Aztecs start picking them off with arrows. The filming cleverly shows the Shadow of an Aztec Warrior on a wall as he fires an arrow. Once Mario Petri gets his hands on the gold, his mind snaps and he kills the rest of his gang. With only Alan Steel (Hercules/Samson) and two friends remaining, the tribe decides to sacrifice them by throwing them into a river of molten gold. Alan shouts, "me first" and then proceeds to beat the Aztecs and tear down their city just as an earthquake strikes. They ride off through the golden doors to safety. The Princess is called INCA in the movie, which would account for the title confusion. In the cut scenes, two cowboys say "I can smell a woman 10 miles away. Which would account for that being cut. I plan to post some nice photos here on IMDB.

Italian Peplum Western with Sergio CIANI and Toni SAILER

Curious mix of sword and sandal film and western with Sergio Ciani and the Austrian Olympic ski champion Toni Sailer

Things really get going in this film by Piero Pierotti. A group of Incas escaped from South America to the Wild West and is home to a legendary treasure. You have to figure it out first! But one after anonther!

MuckiMan Samson (Sergio Ciani under his Mucki name ALAN STEEL) alias William Smith is overjoyed with the beautiful Janet Nixon (Brigitte Heiberg). But suddenly their father is murdered, and Samson's best friend Alan Fox (Olympic ski champion Toni Sailer, who won three gold medals in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956) comes under suspicion of murder. Samson doesn't believe a word of it. Then Alan is kidnapped by the real murderer (Mario Petri), who also got wind of the aforementioned Inca treasure.

Not so easy to keep track of!

In all this confusion, Alan meets an Inca boy who he rescues from the criminals and who then helps him. It's just a shame that the good-looking Trollo didn't even notice that the nice Inca boy is actually the beautiful Princess Mysia (Anna Maria Polani). Oh right!

Meanwhile, when he arrives in the Incas' treasure cave, muscle man Samson joins his friend Alan. How exactly this happened was quickly forgotten. But whatever!

And finally the tightly built westerner, who has so far been wearing his exciting western clothes, can take off his shirt to present his magnificent upper body. After all, Samson still has to live up to his name and tear down the pillars of the treasure vault. After all, why does Sergio Ciani have his huge muscles?

You can tell that you shouldn't take this wild amalgamation of different elements, which even with the best intentions don't fit together, too seriously. Just turn your head off and laugh!

Other roles include Pierre Cressoy, Wolfgang Lukschy and Harry Riebauer as the sheriff.

Certainly only for die-hard fans, but definitely entertaining!

    • Trivia
This was originally to be a "Hercules"-type "sword-and-sandal" film, but with the unexpected success of the "spaghetti western" genre, the script was quickly rewritten to make it a western.
    • Goofs
Title reads Inca, but narrator and dialog say Aztec. The two were completely different, not even having their empires on the same continent.
