Beats "Glen and Glenda" as the worst cross-dressing film of all time

From the time mexican movies were made with a chastity belt on, this is one of the worst. The thin plot was "heavy" enough, so they made Tere Velázquez never look like anything resembling a man -her hair obviously dyed, her shapely figure bouncing with total femininity- so the spectator wouldn't feel "confused". I mean, Schwarzenneger made a better woman in "Junior" than beautiful Tere a man in this film. The acting is awful, as in most movies featuring Alemán. Certainly beats "Glen and Glenda" as the worst cross-dressing film of all time.

Excellent musical comedy in the tradition of 'Victor/Victoria'

This Spanish language film is a sophisticated musical comedy but suitable for all ages. Julio Aleman (playing himself) appearing at a resort (the Sheraton Macuto) is troubled with his seemingly strange attraction to Angela (Teresa Velazquez), who had to impersonate a young man 'Angel', to obtain work as a bellboy; hence the title. Though this plot has been used before and since, the film is fast-paced with many interesting comical twists and subplots. The musical numbers are well-placed and appropriate to the story taking the form of rehearsals and a show-within-a-show. They are also an excellent opportunity to see actors (Aleman and Velazquez) singing and singers (Lillian de Celis and Raquel Castanos) acting. The film was shot on location at the Macuto resort in Venezuela. The ocean-front scenery and hotel are spectacular and are a time capsule of a 1960's luxury resort.

    I Like This "Man" Too

In this Film Gilberto Martinez Solares took all the cast to Venezuela, natural market of Mexicans films since long time ago, to develop one more time in Mexicans movies a Comedy of a torment gay who put in question his sexuality because a transvestite woman same case of Abel Salazar and Pedro Infante in Me Ha Besado un Hombre and Pablo y Carolina respectively, in this case anybody could assume Julio Aleman as a victim of a mental retardation or something like that, in other way is not possible to explain how can he believe that the gorgeous Tere Velazquez is a man although she even worry about fake her voice,at the end Martinez Solares imposed his good sense for comedies to keep going this movie practically with anything new to offer.

Why did they think they'd fool us?

Fermin is right and wrong. Right because no man in his right mind could have been mistaken Tere Velazquez for a man, with or without makeup. From all the movies I have seen with women impersonating men, this is the only one in color, and the makeup is evident. Tere does just two things: "Cut" her hair and wear the uniform. And even if she could have looked like a man, a very effeminate one, no man like Julio Aleman would have felt attracted to him. Anyway, the other issue where Fermin is wrong is because Abel Salazar and Alma Rosa Aguirre did YO QUIERO SER HOMBRE, not ME HA BESADO UN HOMBRE, where he worked with Maria Elena Marques. Another movie missing in this list, besides PABLO Y CAROLINA, is YO SOY MUY MACHO, where Silvia Pinal impersonate her brother, who is drunk-dead and didn't show up for work. The trouble begins where even Gina Romand feels attracted to that "man"... Directors from all these movies didn't care if we believe in the plots or the development of the story, they just wanted to make a movie that was different, maybe daring, unusual, but not believable...sad...

Guilio Salani Of Boca Raton appears in this movie playing music along with his brother Renato Salani

The musical genius of these brothers is a great addition to this film!
