    • Trivia
When complaining about Fritz Bachmann to the police captain and talking about justice Mr. Simmel is comparing himself to Michael Kohlhaas. Kohlhaas is the main character from the 1808-novel of the same name by Heinrich von Kleist. The novel is also set in Dresden, like this movie and is inspired by the real-life salesman Hans Kohlhase. In the novel, set in the 16th century, Kohlhaas is a horse salesman who is fighting the injustice that was done to him (he didn't receive a pass paper into Dresden and had to give up his horses for this) with street justice. This cause to him to a death verdict which however, unlike the real-life-prototype, was not executed at the end.
