    A decent drama

This is a film from the final years of Guru Dutt's life. He acted in this though had no role in direction.

The plot kicks off with a rich man entrusting his singular son to his servant whilst he goes for a long stay at a hospital, with no guarantee of survival. This kicks off a series of events involving a titular villain (common in old Hindi films), romance and some good caper comedy.

Guru Dutt plays his rustic character quite well though the plot doesn't always revolve around him. Equal screen space is shared with secondary characters as well with Mehmood providing much needed comedy.

The songs are nothing great. Guru Dutt's directorial ventures had much better tunes than this.
