Sydney Sweeney Made Her TV Debut In A Popular 2000s Superhero Series
Image
When Tim Kring's superhero series "Heroes" debuted in 2006, it took the world by storm and became popular instantly. The show's first season explored a brand-new, wholly original universe where random citizens began to develop supernatural abilities. At the center of the drama was Claire (Hayden Panettiere), a high school cheerleader who found that she could heal from any injury. Meanwhile, in Japan, a fella named Hiro (Masi Oka) realized he could teleport across the planet and even shift through time. Similarly, a woman named Niki (Ali Larter) discovered she had superhuman strength, while Milo Ventimiglia played Peter, a retirement home nurse who could replicate the superpowers of others.

On the opposing side, there was Sylar (Zachary Quinto), a dangerous villain who could absorb other people's powers after killing them. (It's heavily implied he would eat their brains.) Elsewhere, Jack Coleman co-starred as a character referred to only as Horn-Rimmed Glasses,...

Spaghetti Western & 'Spider-Man' Icon, Jack Betts, Passes Away at 96
Image
Jack Betts, known for appearing in dozens of the most classic series, Spaghetti Westerns, and the 2002 Spider-Man as Henry Balkan, has died. According to Variety, the 96-year-old character actor died on June 19 in his sleep at his home in Los Osos, California, as reported by his nephew. The actor was close friends with Everybody Loves Raymond star Doris Roberts, and the pair often attended events together before she died in 2016. 2002 was the year Betts caught the attention of younger generations, portraying Balkan, an executive who sat on the board of Oscorp Technologies alongside its wealthy company founder Norman Osborn before he became the Green Goblin. However, his iconic career spanned decades before that role even came along.

He was born on April 11, 1929, and grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey, before moving to Miami, Florida, with his family at 10 years old. Like many classic actors, Betts once auditioned for a...

Jack Betts, ‘Spider-Man’ Actor, Dies at 96
Image
Jack Betts, who played Oscorp board chair Henry Balkan in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man,” died Thursday in his home in Los Osos, California. He was 96.

Betts also played Dr. Ivan Kipling on “One Life to Live” from 1979-85 and moved on to parts on several soap operas, including “General Hospital,” “The Edge of Night,” “The Doctors,” “Another World,” “All My Children,” “Search for Tomorrow,” “Guiding Light,” “Loving” and “Generations.”

He also had parts in several spaghetti Westerns, though never quite reached the level of success he hoped for. As Betts said in a 2021 interview with The Dev Show, Clint Eastwood was often in the hotel next door while he filmed.

“He’d go up to his mountain and do his Western and I’d go up to my mountain and do my Western,” Betts explained. “But while his films had distribution all over the world, my films were distributed [everywhere] except Canada and America.

Gene Roddenberry Had To Fight For Jonathan Frakes' Star Trek Casting
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

On "Star Trek: The Next Generation," Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) served as the first officer on board the U.S.S. Enterprise-d. Unlike the taciturn and serious Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart), Commander Riker was gregarious and approachable. He won over his crew's loyalty by being friendly, open and, in the words of a visiting tactician, jocular. He was also sold as the show's central heartthrob, as he was tall, trim, and handsome.

When "Next Generation" began in 1987, Frakes was already a supporting TV staple, having appeared on shows like "The Doctors," "Charlie's Angels," "Fantasy Island," "Hill Street Blues," "Highway to Heaven," and a dozen others. His highest-profile TV gig was playing a character named Damon Ross in ten episodes of "Falcon Crest." He was never a leading man, but he knew the business well.

The original casting sheet for Commander...

“Cheers” TV Show Cast: Where Are They Now?
Image
For today’s Gen-z kids, The Big Bang Theory and Friends might be some of the shows that they feel are iconic. But long back in the 80s, aired a show that changed the definition of sitcoms and grew a massive fan base across the US.

Yes, we are talking about NBC’s Cheers, which ran successfully from 1982 until its series finale in 1993. Critically acclaimed and loved by many during its original run, the series is one of the best sitcoms.

Cheers is hilarious, intelligent, fast-paced, heartfelt, peopled by unforgettable characters, and consistently good. The story revolves around a Boston bar, owned by Sam Malone (Ted Danson), a former relief pitcher, and has several other main characters, who either work in the bar or visit it regularly.

Decades later after its final run, let’s take a look at where some of the Cheers‘ major cast members are now!

4 Pre-’Cheers’ Roles in Which Ted Danson Plays the Bad Guy
Image
Everybody loves Ted Danson. Starting with Cheers, he’s been the star of about a dozen different hit shows, in which he’s almost always charming and lovable (even when he plays the devil). Pre-Cheers, however, Danson wasn’t always so likable. In fact, he was mostly the bad guy.

Here are four times Danson was the heel before he was Sam Malone…

4 ‘The Doctors’

Before moving into prime time, Danson spent several years acting in daytime soaps, including this role as a smug know-it-all psychiatrist on The Doctors. In the clip above, he comes off as a flirty creep even when he’s discussing the case of a traumatized kid.

3 ‘Magnum P.I.’

Before Danson and Tom Selleck played two-thirds of the dads in Three Men and a Baby, they squared off in an episode of Magnum P.I. In it, Danson plays a conman trying to bilk an old lady out of her savings.

Long Before Lost, Terry O'Quinn Was In Star Trek: The Next Generation
Image
In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "The Pegasus", Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) is reunited with Admiral Erik Pressman (Terry O'Quinn), his former commanding officer on board a ship called the U.S.S. Pegasus. Pressman is visiting the Enterprise to reveal that Starfleet intelligence has located the missing Pegasus, presumably destroyed 15 years ago. It's their mission to either salvage the Pegasus or destroy it before nearby Romulans can cannibalize its technology.

In some meaningful asides, Riker and Pressman talk about the "final mission" of the Pegasus, and how there are some things they have been keeping secret for the last 15 years, hoping that Starfleet never finds out. Like most Admirals on "Star Trek," Pressman is up to something shady, and he had convinced a young Ensign Riker to go along with it. Because Pressman is played by Terry O'Quinn, audiences were likely suspicious immediately; O'Quinn was an expert...

She escaped Nazi Germany in the 1930s and was profiled by The Hollywood Reporter in January 2016 as one of the entertainment industry’s last survivors of the Holocaust.

For more than three decades, when the subject turned to sex, Dr. Ruth (as she was known to her legion of fans) was the go-to person. People magazine included her on its 1998 list of the Most Intriguing People of the Century. In Playboy’s 55th anniversary issue in 2009, she landed the No. 13 spot on its list of the most important people in sex from the past 55 years.

‘General Hospital’ at 60: What Happened in the Very First Episode
Image
Two long-running, hospital-set soaps — ABC’s General Hospital and NBC’s The Doctors — debuted on the same day on April 1, 1963. The Doctors ran for nearly 20 years, but General Hospital has lasted three times as long — and counting! Six decades into the soap’s run, and ABC is honoring the show with a primetime special, General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling, airing on Thursday, January 4, at 10/9c. The General Hospital that started that day in 1963, however, is very different from the show fans see today, and not just because it aired in black and white and not color. For starters, General Hospital was a half-hour show at the time; it didn’t expand to its current, hour-long format until 15 years later. And whereas today’s General Hospital boasts a cast of nearly three dozen, Episode #1.1 focused on only five characters on the seventh floor of the titular medical center — particularly Dr.
