This movie is based on the famous 18th century novel with the same title, and it was a lovely escape for Chinese audience from the political propaganda that was common for Chinese films during that era.

China is a country with more 5000 years of history. However, some people just could not see the huge value of the Chinese culture and their eyes are covered blindly by a few years of political disaster.
