It is a psychological drama with a love triangle set in the wonderful island of Majorca.

This passable film deals with a romance between a pianist and an attractive heiress, and is also known as "Mallorca, Kisses of Fire". Mario Ferrán (Arturo Fernández) is a cynical , sulky pianist who gets a job at a hotel in Mallorca, where is Olga Vidal (Elke Sommer) , daughter of a magnate (Roberto Camardiel) , as she is a wealthy heiress who soon notices Mario and falls in love with him . Later, a cousin of Olga, named Clara (Teresa Del Río), Mario's former student, also feels attracted to the musician . Meanwhile , his friend Cassen has the companion of beautiful tourists .

So-so film unleashing the romantic drama by sentimentally linking the different love relationships adding a vacation setting and social clashes . And being especially known for featuring the first bikini in a Spanish film. A romantic choral drama, in which love triangles intersect in a sophisticated and elegant summer atmosphere, photographed in colorful images. Main stars are well accompanied by a nice support cast such as Cassen who provides the hilarious touches as the orchestra drummer while taking advantage of the sexy tourists , and José María Tasso, famous for his bangs hair , both of them add traces of humor to so much melodrama with constant evocations of Frédéric Chopin and his stay in Valldemossa with the writer George Sand. An entertaining and evocative film in which takes us to Mallorca Island at the beginning of the 60s in a period of tourist explosion, with the beauty of the island's landscapes, the "boom" of construction, the night parties, in a background of jazz lounge music , a coastal setting , touches of customs and a lot of sightseeing from city of Mallorca , Valldemosa , beaches of Formentor , among others . The introduction of the story , the approach and the presentation of characters are interesting enough , but the problem is the lack of depth and the imbalance in the treatment of several of its protagonists. Developing a some boring passion among the triangle created among the rich heiress Elke Sommer , her poor cousin Teresa Del Río who soon finds herself attracted to Mario and the serious Arturo Fernández . The really gorgeous Elke Sommer limits the empathy of their emotions due to the low interest of their bland plot of love affairs and overcoming trauma . The performances are functional but acceptable at times. Olga , played by a very young Elke Sommer , is a girl spoiled by her father , presented as superficial, frivolous , with sufficient evolution throughout the film. And Arturo Fernández provides a sour role as a pianist who has a dark secret and he collaborated again with director Juan Bosch on this film set in Mallorca . In the development there are characters that occupy a lot of presence but in predictable and flat portraits , and others , essential in the resolution of the film , show vagueness in their motives and actions . It results to be quite forced in its motives and actions, and with a predictable resolution . The script raises various issues without actually developing them, opting for blurred romantic conflicts, where logic ends up relegated to artifice before the known conclusion .

There's also spectacular concert in which the main character plays : Étude Op. 10, No. 3 (Tristesse) composed by Frédéric Chopin ; Prélude No.16 in B flat minor composed by Chopin and Piano Concerto No. 1 composed by Frédéric Chopin performed by Barcelona Symphony Orchestra . Financed by German Lorente who subsequenly will produce/direct a similar film : ¨Playa de Formentor¨ (1965). The picture was regular but professionally directed by Juan Bosch, containing some flaws , failures and gaps. This craftsman Juan Bosch was a Spanish writer/filmmaker who so consistently mixed the good with the mediocre that it became quite impossible to know what to expect from him next . Bosch was a Spanish artisan who wrote and directed films of all kinds of genres such as Spaghetti Western : "Dallas", "God in heaven Arizona on Earth", "And the crows will dig your grave" , "My horse my gun your widow", "Ciudad Maldita", "Stagecoach of the condemned", "They believed he was no Saint" . Comedy : " Mauricio mon amour" , "40 años sin sexo", "Caray con el divorcio", "Rolls para Hipolito" . Terror : " Secta Siniestra" and Giallo : "The killer with a thousand eyes", "The killer wore gloves" . Rating 5/10. Only for Elke Sommer and Arturo Fernandez fans.

    Misleading bikini

Some films like 'Last Tango in Paris' 1972, or in Spain 'La trastienda-Back of the Store' 1975, are only remembered for a landmark detail in the history of cinema restrictions/censorship that has little impact on the story explored on screen. In this case a very brief shot of two blonds in bikinis; the first shown in a Spanish film. The brief (and now demure) scene, nonetheless creates the same "steamy" feeling of desire that was previously captured in Fred Zinnemann's 1953 'From Here to Eternity'. This summer tryst set on the island of Mallorca, with all its tourists, concerns a spoilt and bored heiress (Olga/Elke Sommer), whose only pleasure appears to be humiliating others, and a surly pianist with an uncomfortable past (Mario/Arturo Fernández), who should be playing Chopin rather than provide the ambiance in a open air night club! Note the care taken by Elke Sommer's hair stylist.
