A Spanish Screwball Comedy with popular actors and full of silly incidents, and lots of fun.

An amusing and entertaining film based on the play ¨Accidents Don't happen" from André Solt and Istvan Skeffi, adapted by director Tulio Demicheli himself, José Manuel Iglesias and Víctor Ruiz Iriarte. A humble governess (Concha Velasco) marries a rich apothecary (Rafael Alonso) . On her wedding night, the young woman receives a fabulous diamond bracelet with a note that says: "in memory of those unforgettable nights." The pharmacist, upon learning of the mysterious gift that his new wife has received, doubts his wife's purity, even though she swears up and down that she is innocent. The gift arouses the governess's curiosity, and in order to resolve the mystery, she escapes to the jeweler's house, still dressed as a bride, to try to figure out what really happened.

It is a vaudeville-style comedy with a series of funny situations that practically take place on the wedding night and at a costume party. Shot in medium budget, it is nevertheless very well photographed by cameraman Jose F. Aguayo and the direction is efficient and quite professional, which is still a mediocre film, without anything to highlight. The best part of the movie is the dialogue, in which the masterful, delicate and delightfully humorous hand of the prestigious writer Victor Ruiz Iriarte can be appreciated.

It is a remake of the film ¨Su Noche de Bodas¨ (1931) by the Swiss director Louis Mercanton and Florian Rey that starred Imperio Argentina in France, along with Miguel Ligero, Manuel Russell, Rosita Díaz Gimeno. Other versions of this story are: ¨Her Wedding Night¨ (1930) by Frank Tuttle with Clara Bow, Ralph Forbes. ¨Marions-nous¨ (1931) with Alice Cocéa, Fernand Gravey, Marguerite Moreno and ¨Ich heirate meinen Mann¨ (1931) by E. W. Eno.

Starring the very young and here very funny Conchita Velasco as the bride who supposedly has the honor and lost virginity, along with the Mexican idol singer Luis Aguilar who of course sings some attractive ¨Rancheras¨ with his usual 'Charro' hat, Rafael Alonso as the cuckold and defiled newly married husband, the always agreeable Isabel Garces as Luis Aguilar's mother who wants her son to get married by any means and Tony Leblanc as a cabman who is relentlessly pursuing the bride throughout the entire film so that she pays for her taxi ride. And, of course, as usual a long plethora of secondary characteristics, which may include the following: Agustín González, Emilio Rodríguez, María Luisa Merlo, Lina Canalejas, Mari Carmen Prendes, Hugo Pimentel, José Orjas, Manuel de Juan and with special mention for the very likable Gracita Morales. Unfortunately, today all the performers have passed away with the only exception for Maria Luisa Merlo.

The flick was directed averagely but professionally by Tulio Demichelli, a craftsman who had already filmed other many pictures. The Argentine writer and filmmaker naturalized Spanish Tulio Demicheli mixed the good with the mediocre so consistently that it was almost impossible to know what to expect from him next. Demicheli had a long and prolific career, working since the 40s, he directed all kinds of genres such as: drama as ¨La Herida Luminosa¨, Thriller as ¨Ricco¨, adventures as¨Hijo del Capitán Blood¨, ¨Primera aventura¨, Spy subgenre as ¨Il Nostro Agente a Casablanca¨, ¨Juego sucio en Panamá¨, ¨Misión Lisboa¨; Giallo as ¨Alibi in Red Disco or Two Faces or Fear¨, Horror as ¨Monstruos De Terror or Assignment Terror" and also directed Paella/Spaghetti Westerns as ¨Tequila¨, ¨Arriba Sabata¨ , ¨Un Hombre, un Colt¨ and ¨Pistoleros de Río Bravo¨. His best film was ¨Carmen de Ronda¨ with Sara Montiel. Rating: 5.5/10, acceptable Spanish comedy, enjoyable material that will entertain to not too demanding public. A pleasant production that contains emotions, entertainment, and diversion enough.
