    A worthy early series

When a lot of players were losing roles because the studios stopped making B films as television gained popularity, many switched rather than fight. Case in point was Tom Conway whose Falcon series was dropped by RKO. What more natural than a series where he was a detective again.

As the Falcon Conway was a dashing and urbane private eye with that private hiding some private thoughts about the various females he encounters in those Falcon films. But as Inspector Mark Saber, an English detective with the NYPD, Conway was all business.

If you catch one of these films remember it's early television so don't expect too much. But Conway was an easy to take actor and the Saber character didn't miss much. Couldn't say the same for James Burke who played cement head characters on the big screen and small. Burke was Conway's Watson though not nearly as helpful.

An interesting excursion into early television.
