The official censorship imposed so many cuts to the film that director Manuel Guimarães was forced to add scenes and the character of a Journalist (Jacinto Ramos) doubling as on-screen Narrator, in a long and difficult complete re-editing of the film. The film was restored in 2007 with a running time of circa 74 minutes, but the pre-censorship director's cut is deemed to be lost.
