A new audition announcement notes the play is expected to begin performances early March in New York. John Lithgow played the role of Dahl in the UK production. In a Screen Rant exclusive interview during Comic-Con weekend, Rob Liefeld expressed regret for not maintaining better care of his copy of Giant-Size X-Men#1. Following his public Marvel exit, Liefeld is embarking on the comic industry's biggest wake-up call in recent memory after his direct-to-consumer launch of Youngblood #1 generated $500,000 in gross sales across five variant editions sold through his website.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Rob Liefeld explains how Giant-Size Youngblood is his way of paying homage to Giant-Size X-Men #1, which he wishes he kept better care of with regard to an original copy he had bought decades prior. Here is all that Liefeld says in full on the matter:
So I can tell you, so Giant-Size Youngblood is my tribute to Giant-Size X-Men No. 1, which came out in 1975. It's currently enjoying its 50th anniversary, and I was there, eight years old pulling it off. I never bought X-Men. I've talked at length how Angel,...

Fans last saw the legendary Pierce Brosnan on small screens in the hit Paramount+ show, MobLand, which aired its finale in June. Next, the award-winning actor will appear in Netflix’s The Thursday Murder Club, scheduled for release in select theaters on August 22 and on the streamer on August 28. As the countdown to its arrival continues, Brosnan has secured another promising project, which has no release date yet but will soon be playing on big screens.
Titled Giant, the upcoming biopic is based on the life of boxing champion Prince Naseem “Naz” Hamed, who competed from 1992 to 2002. An official trailer has now been released for the movie, highlighting the athlete’s dynamic with iconic trainer Brendan Ingle, who coached him for sixteen years. The BBC has launched the trailer for ‘King & Conqueror,’ a new eight-part historical epic coming to BBC iPlayer and BBC One this year.
The story of a clash that defined the future of a country – and a continent – for a thousand years, the roots of which stretch back decades and extend out through a pair of interconnected family dynasties, struggling for power across two countries and a raging sea. Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy were two men destined to meet at the Battle of Hastings in 1066; two allies with no design on the English throne, who found themselves forced by circumstance and personal obsession into a war for possession of its crown.
The 60-second trailer shows Harold, Earl of Wessex (James Norton) and William, Duke of Normandy (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) as they battle for the throne alongside their respective wives, Edith Swan-neck (Emily Beecham) and Matilda (Clémence Poésy...

He's saved the world several times over as James Bond, become one of the Dceu's strongest heroes, and run a criminal empire in MobLand. Now, Pierce Brosnan is stepping into the ring (kind of) for a new boxing biopic. Brosnan won't be donning any sparkly shorts or red gloves, but he'll be sitting in the corner as audiences see the life story of the iconic boxing champion, Prince Naseem (real name: Naseem Hamed). The new movie recently unveiled its first trailer and, along with some flashy boxing scenes, it also revealed Pierce Brosnan's unrecognizable transformation for the film.
The first trailer for Giant was recently released online, and it showcases the tight bond between Prince Naseem and his famous boxing coach, Brendan Ingle. Amir El-Masry plays the beloved boxer, as the film follows his journey from a young bullied kid in Sheffield, England, to the featherweight champion of the world...

Pierce Brosnan is best known for his stint as James Bond, playing the iconic secret agent in four films from 1995 to 2002 – GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, and Die Another Day. Though he's best known for Bond, Brosnan has played several other roles in his nearly 50-year career.
The Irish actor first gained fame through the TV series Remington Steele (1982–1987). After the show ended, he appeared in the popular comedy Mrs. Doubtfire (1993). After his breakthrough as Bond, he had starring roles in high-profile films such as the disaster thriller Dante's Peak (1997) and the stylish remake of The Thomas Crown Affair (1999).
Post-Bond, Brosnan remained active in film, taking on diverse roles in hits like Mamma Mia! (2008) and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010). He later portrayed Doctor Fate in Black Adam (2022). Beyond blockbuster films, Brosnan earned critical praise for his earlier work in Nancy Astor (1982) and...

True Brit Entertainment has revealed the first trailer for the boxing biopic ‘Giant.’
The movie is based on the compelling true-life story of British-Yemeni pugilist Prince Naseem ‘Naz’ Hamed and his rags-to-riches ascent to a World Championship under the tutelage of his Irish-born boxing trainer Brendan Ingle.
The story of Hamed’s humble beginnings on the tough working-class streets of Sheffield and his discovery by Ingle, himself a steel industry worker turned boxing trainer. Their unlikely partnership along with Naz’ unorthodox style, cocky persona, and sheer dominance in the ring, propelled them to the top of boxing’s elite and unprecedented levels of global superstardom, all in the face of the rampant Islamophobia and racism of 80’s and 90’s Britain.
Amir El-Masry will play Naz, and Brosnan takes on the role of Ingle.

Amir El-Masry plays Prince Naseem Hamed in the boxing biopic, Giant, co-starring Pierce Brosnan. Here’s the first trailer:
It feels like there should already be a film about Prince Naseem Hamed, a former British-Yemeni boxer who rose to fame in the 90s. Thankfully, filmmaker Rowan Athale is now fixing that, bringing the boxer’s life and career to the big screen in Giant.
Giant just debuted its first trailer and you can watch it below.
As you can see from the trailer, Giant tracks the boxer’s humble beginnings as a child in Sheffield to sports superstardom as an adult. The film, which will be in cinemas later this year, focuses particularly on Hamed’s relationship with his trainer Brendan Ingle, played in the film by Pierce Brosnan. Hamed will be portrayed by Amir El-Masry, who made a lasting impression in Ben Sharrock’s Limbo in 2020.

If reports are to be believed, the project is expected to be bankrolled by minister and actor Udhayanidhi Stalin under the Red Giant Movies banner. However, nothing has been made official yet. Even if everything goes as planned, Rajinikanth will reportedly join the project only after Jailer 2.

Whenever a Hollywood epic gets so drunk on its own cultural importance that it attempts to pre-legitimize itself by casting every available star in town, you can be quite certain that the finished product will be either a terminal bore or a full-blown disaster. Darryl F. Zanuck's "The Longest Day" is very much the former, a 178-minute grind that tries and largely fails to thrust moviegoers into the middle of the D-Day invasion via docudrama techniques; it's often technically impressive, but it quickly turns into a game of spot-the-star, which pulls us straight out of the movie. And then there's 1967's "Casino Royale," a celebrity-studded James Bond parody that feels like watching an exclusive, booze-fueled bash from the house across the street.
There are obvious exceptions, but they come with the caveat of knowingly satirizing Hollywood's insularity (Robert Altman's "The Player") or simply being a hot project that...

Taylor Sheridan's streaming empire expanded late last year when "Landman" (which he created with Christian Wallace) premiered on Paramount+. The drama stars Billy Bob Thornton as Tommy Norris, a petroleum landman for an energy company looking to dominate the oilfields of West Texas. As he's demonstrated throughout his career with "Yellowstone" and its spinoffs, Sheridan has a nighttime soap writer's love for big rural business and the big families that run them, and his sizable fan base can't get enough of the "Dallas"-esque power struggles and betrayals that come with this big money territory.
"Landman" was an instant hit, which was great news for Sheridan, but the fervor the show generated has left fans impatiently awaiting Season 2. Though they can take heart in knowing that production started on the new season last April, Paramount+ has yet to announce when the next round of episodes will air. Hopefully, the...

Sylvester Stallone has starred in a lot of successful film franchises, from Rocky and Rambo to The Expendables and Guardians of the Galaxy. However, fans may have forgotten that the actor starred in an action franchise from the 2010s that is now streaming on Tubi.
The Escape Plan trilogy — Escape Plan (2013), Escape Plan 2: Hades (2018), and Escape Plan: The Extractors (2019) — was recently added to the free streaming service's film library. While not well-received by critics, the Escape Plan trilogy is largely remembered for the 2018 original marking the first time that Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger co-led a movie together. Considered the two biggest action stars of the 1980s (and most of the '90s too), Stallone and Schwarzenegger had never headlined an action movie together until Escape Plan. While they had previously worked together on The Expendables and its 2012 sequel, Schwarzenegger only appeared in a limited, supporting capacity as his character Trench.

"Ugly giant bags of mostly water."
This particular line is a popular insult in the fandom and comes from the episode Home Grounds (S01E18), where the crew was introduced to a powerful, but rude, microscopic crystalline lifeform. It addressed the crew, "Ugly. Giant. Bags of mostly water," in a choppy synthetic voice as the universal translator struggled to interpret the unusual language.
While this line has a little humor sprinkled in, it's spoken by a hostile, unknown lifeform. The crew can't giggle too long about it. It's a memorable line, though sometimes mistaken for a Worf quote. Star Trek is full of quirky phrases, but something about a "bag of water" really struck a chord. Perhaps because it is such an accurate description of humans.
"There are four lights!"
Speaking of memes, no list of unintentionally funny quotes would be complete without Picard's harrowing line from Chain...

David Corenswet bagged a titular role in his career in James Gunn’s upcoming DC Universe reboot. The new Superman is currently attending promotional events to announce his maiden appearance as the iconic superhero. The movie will hit theaters on July 11, 2025. However, during one such appearance, a memorable Andre the Giant reference stole the hearts of the WWE fans.
The now-hyped moment took place at an arm-wrestling contest. Interestingly, it happened between David Corenswet and social media influencer Recce Feldman, which ended pretty much as expected. Corenswet easily dominated the social media influencer in the contest. However, it was the new Superman’s reference to a famous dialogue by Andre the Giant that tickled the funny bones of those witnessing the light-hearted entertainment.

It comes as no surprise that the WWE Superstars have a knack for wrestling, and sooner or later, the wrestlers make a transition in their career and hope to make it big in Tinsel Town. Over the years, renowned talents like Dwayne Johnson, John Cena, Dave Batista, Big Show, and many more have made their debut in films or TV series.
However, Show’s appearance was significantly different from his locker room colleague, as fans were confused about his role in the fantasy horror series, Van Helsing. Despite the show concluding back in 2021, fans are still confused to this day about the star’s role and what its significance was in the plot.
Interestingly, his role added a layer of depth to his brute personality, which made the show so memorable.

A little over a year ago, it was announced that Pierce Brosnan would be starring as an aging werewolf hunter in the film Wolfland. Described as an "epic odyssey" with Brosnan's son Sean behind the camera, there's been little news on the project since then, and now we know the unfortunate reason why.
Speaking with MovieWeb's own George Edelman about his upcoming Western, The Unholy Trinity, the subject of Wolfland came up. Word came in 2024 that Brosnan was set to lead the project as Devlin, a former werewolf hunter who helps a young teenager. However, since then, Brosnan has had a number of things on his plate, including voicing Pontius Pilate in The King of Kings, playing Ron Ritchie in the upcoming film The Thursday Murder Club, and starring in the hit Paramount+ series, MobLand. As such, he hasn't really had time for much else, which, sadly, has set things...

Netflix’s Korean crime thriller series, Mercy For None, comprises a solid cast, featuring some of the most well-known acting talents of the Korean showbiz industry. While the narrative treatment of the revenge saga is pretty basic in its approach, it is the unique visual style, brilliant action choreography, and compelling performance by the cast that make the series work so well. Before moving to the cast and character details, the stunt crew’s remarkable efforts should be acknowledged, who not only brought a number of memorable action sequences to life but also maintained the tone of gritty, grounded violence the series was aiming at.

Like it or not, the phrase “folk-pop” can often put listeners to sleep. Cassandra Coleman isn’t having it: On the Tennessee songwriter’s debut single, “Coming of Age,” she proves that acoustic music needn’t be boring.
Helping her achieve that goal is Jack Antonoff, who co-produced the song and lent his group Bleachers to Coleman as her backing band. The result is an immersive, woozy journey into the mind of an artist who refuses to be defined by any one thing.
“‘Coming of Age’ was written in a time of upheaval.

The ever-growing list of "Yellowstone" spin-offs proves that Taylor Sheridan knows how to milk a franchise, but there is more to his oeuvre than Dutton family drama. "Landman" is an oil-themed series with no connection to the "Yellowstone" universe, yet both properties are similar in the sense that they are doing huge numbers for the Paramount Network. In fact, "Landman" season 1 broke streaming records and made an unlikely fan out of Stephen King, who hates himself for enjoying Sheridan's series.
Be that as it may, Billy Bob Thornton (who plays Tommy Norris on "Landman") isn't surprised by its success ... though he was caught off-guard by its reach. As he told the Los Angeles Times:
"We knew we were making something really special. We thought people would like it. But the response has been so much beyond what we thought. Traditionally, Taylor's stuff is more of a middle-of-the-country kind of thing.

In the first scene of Taylor Sheridan's latest drama series "Landman," Tommy Norris sits in an empty hangar with a bag over his head. We don't see his face, and we only hear his voice. In that moment, he's trying to talk his way out of getting killed by a Mexican cartel member. Of course, we know that Tommy is played by veteran actor Billy Bob Thornton, but even before we get to take a look at his rugged visage, we sense (through his voice) that this role — of an alcoholic, chain-smoking, and no-bs landman — was tailor-made for him. It's as if Thornton suddenly had changed careers and decided to ride his final years out in the scorching heat of West Texas, bossing roughnecks around, and fixing issues for billionaire oil men who run the industry.
Half of that is true. According to the interview that Thornton gave for The Daily Beast's Obsessed,...

Dennis Hopper was the Oscar-nominated performer who experienced many ups-and-downs throughout his career, with his off-screen antics often overshadowing his onscreen talent. Yet many of his movies have stood the test of time. Let's take a look back at 15 of Hopper's greatest films, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1936, Hopper made his movie debut at the age of 19 in "Rebel Without a Cause" (1955), where he became fast friends with James Dean. He had an even bigger role in "Giant" (1956), which would be Dean's last film before his untimely death in 1955. Hopper struggled for several years trying to find his voice, making small appearances in such films as "Cool Hand Luke" (1967) and "True Grit"(1969).
He burst onto the scene with the counterculture phenomenon "Easy Rider" (1969), which he also directed and co-wrote (with co-star Peter Fonda and Terry Southern). The story of two bikers (Hopper and Fonda) traveling across the country...

Octopus! unfolds across two feature‑length episodes that chart the life of the Giant Pacific Octopus, from its emergence as a hatchling through the delicate final stages of senescence. Streaming on Prime Video, this hybrid‑form documentary fuses high‑definition underwater cinematography with playful stop‑motion sequences, inviting both specialists and general audiences to reconsider how oceanic life is presented.
The series benefits from Phoebe Waller‑Bridge’s distinctive narration—her measured wit and timing carve out moments of levity without eclipsing the subject’s astonishing biology. Under Niharika Desai’s direction and Gabriel Bisset‑Smith’s script, the tone shifts between rigorous exposition and self‑aware commentary, gently challenging assumptions about nature programming.
Designed to inform and entertain in equal measure, Octopus! intersperses interviews with marine biologists—such as Dr. Jenny Hofmeister and Piero Amodio—alongside candid celebrity segments. This blend broadens the appeal but also raises questions about expertise in science communication.

An official One Piece animator has mocked a polarizing aspect of the long-awaited match-up between Monkey D. Luffy and Admiral Kizaru in Episode 1127 of the anime TV series. The animator's now-deleted comments echo the fandom's long-time criticism of the anime, which, for better or worse, reflects its nearly 30-year history.
One Piece Episode 1127, "Luffy vs. Kizaru! A Fierce Kaleidoscopic Battle," continued the animated adaptation of the "Egghead" story arc, which resumed this April. The latest episode, which premiered on Crunchyroll on April 27, 2025, featured a highly anticipated battle between Borsalino, commonly known as Kizaru, and Luffy in his nearly-acquired Gear 5 form. As one would expect from One Piece, it’s a highly stylized fight sequence further elevated in animation quality, thanks to the freelance work of fan-favorite animator Chansard Vincent. Although many within the One Piece fandom consider the much-talked-about fight sequence to be the new gold standard of the series,...

Despite stepping into one of the most iconic roles in the wizarding world, John Lithgow is learning there’s a lot more baggage than just spellbooks and wands when it comes to HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. Lithgow, who has been cast as Albus Dumbledore in the new TV adaptation, recently admitted that when he agreed to join the show, he wasn’t thinking about the firestorm of controversy surrounding franchise author J.K. Rowling. In fact, speaking to The Sunday Times, Lithgow revealed he was initially focused on something else entirely: mortality.
"It was a big decision because it’s probably the last major role I’ll play," Lithgow shared. "It’s an eight-year commitment, so I was just thinking about mortality and that this is a very good winding-down role."

Incoming Harry Potter actor John Lithgow says he wasn't prepared for the backlash he received after joining the cast of HBO's new series, and that he's "curious" to have a conversation with J.K. Rowling about it all. Lithgow has been tapped to play Albus Dumbledore in the fresh adaptation of Rowling's novels, which is set to hit the small screen next year. The series is drawing the ire of many in a way the films never did, thanks to Rowling's outspoken views on the transgender community, which date as far back as 2020.
Speaking with The Times of London about his portrayal of antisemitic children's author Roald Dahl in the stage play, Giant, the subject of Harry Potter inevitably came up. How could it not? Lithgow's appearance in the project has been garnering a ton of attention because, as he put it, it's probably "the last major role" he'll ever play.

Welcome to Tony Talk, a column in which Gold Derby contributors Sam Eckmann and David Buchanan offer Tony Awards analysis. No, your eyes do not deceive you! We are in fact discussing the 2026 Tony Awards today by way of Sunday night's Olivier Award winners in London celebrating the best of British theater.
David Buchanan: We're only three weeks away from the 2025 Tony Awards nominations, but we have to interrupt our predictions to address — believe it or not — the 2026 Tonys! Last night at the Oliviers, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Giant, and Fiddler on the Roof all tied as most-awarded productions of the night with three wins each. But let's start with Oedipus, which not only took home two trophies, but is also confirmed to transfer to Broadway this fall. How do you think its stunning cast, including last night's champ Lesley Manville, might fare stateside next year against a totally unknown Best Actress slate?...

John Lithgow has shared his thoughts on the current entertainment landscape in America, describing the arts as in "crisis". He attacked Donald Trump's second term as one of the main causes of the turmoil.
Variety reports that Lithgow gave an impassioned speech at the Olivier Awards in London on Saturday where he spoke out against President Trump's recent takeover of the Kennedy Center, a historic theater in Washington, D.C. "Our administration has done some shocking, destructive things, but the one that grieves me most is taking over the Kennedy Center," Lithgow lamented. "Well, [the state of the arts is] really in crisis now. First there was coronavirus, now there’s this."
While Lithgow's take is a highly political one, the famous actor — who will portray Dumbledore in HBO's new Harry Potter series — did manage to find some optimism in the current state of things that rings undeniably true. "It gives us all something to fight for,...

Former James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan has pulled back the curtain, revealing just how easy it is to get injured while playing 007. Brosnan portrayed Bond four times between 1995-2002, first in GoldenEye and lastly in Die Another Day. Brosnan did many of his own stunts during his tenure as James Bond, especially during the first two movies in the franchise, so there was no doubt that this was going to lead to injury at some point. The opening scene of The World is Not Enough, the second installment in Brosnan’s Bond franchise, which was released in 1997, sees Brosnan chase down a foe in a boat that ultimately leads to a crash. During a recent interview with Hello Magazine to promote his new project, MobLand, Brosnan was asked if he suffered any injuries while fliming this scene:
"Yeah, I did. The boat goes off the river into a restaurant,...

Alan Ritchson doesn’t just play a tough guy; he is one. Reacher season 3 is bringing the heat, and episode 8’s brutal showdown with Paulie (Olivier Richters) is set to be a bone-cruncher. Literally. Ritchson went all in for the fight scene, pushing his body to the limit. The result – broken shins, shattered tendons, and a whole lot of pain.

But did that stop him? Nah. Training for the scene took a serious toll, but Ritchson’s dedication to making Reacher’s action feel real is next-level.

The 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival is opening with a flex of galactic muscle: “The Empire Strikes Back,” celebrating its 45th anniversary, will kick off the 16th edition of the festival presented by Turner Classic Movies in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 24. And even better, The Maker himself, George Lucas, will be in attendance to introduce it.
It’ll be an opening turbolaser salvo for a whole weekend of films revolving around the theme “Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds on Film,” brilliantly overseen once again by longtime festival director, Genevieve McGillicuddy. Other films in that otherworldly lineup include “Spirited Away,” “The Incredible Shrinking Man,” “Mothra,” and “Earth vs. the Flying Saucers.”
The festival will run the entire weekend, centered as always at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, which offers special rates for festival attendees, with screenings at the neighboring Tcl Chinese Theatre IMAX, the Tcl Chinese 6, the Egyptian, and the El Capitan.

Director Brad Bird may best be known for bringing us Pixar's superhero family known as "The Incredibles." But just five years before that, he ushered in another kind of superhero in the form of "The Iron Giant," though it was initially a box office disappointment, despite finding a way right into our hearts. The mysterious robot crash-landed on Earth and ended up befriending a young boy named Hogarth, but he also created a military panic in a small Maine town (making it one of the best movies set there) during the Cold War period of the 1950s, when fear of nuclear weapons was high. When an attack on the giant robot puts Hogarth and his town in danger, the robot sacrifices himself, taking a cue from the classic comic book version of Superman by soaring into the sky to intercept a massive bomb.
