True Brit Entertainment has revealed the first trailer for the boxing biopic ‘Giant.’

The movie is based on the compelling true-life story of British-Yemeni pugilist Prince Naseem ‘Naz’ Hamed and his rags-to-riches ascent to a World Championship under the tutelage of his Irish-born boxing trainer Brendan Ingle.

The story of Hamed’s humble beginnings on the tough working-class streets of Sheffield and his discovery by Ingle, himself a steel industry worker turned boxing trainer. Their unlikely partnership along with Naz’ unorthodox style, cocky persona, and sheer dominance in the ring, propelled them to the top of boxing’s elite and unprecedented levels of global superstardom, all in the face of the rampant Islamophobia and racism of 80’s and 90’s Britain.

It feels like there should already be a film about Prince Naseem Hamed, a former British-Yemeni boxer who rose to fame in the 90s. Thankfully, filmmaker Rowan Athale is now fixing that, bringing the boxer’s life and career to the big screen in Giant.

Giant just debuted its first trailer and you can watch it below.

As you can see from the trailer, Giant tracks the boxer’s humble beginnings as a child in Sheffield to sports superstardom as an adult. The film, which will be in cinemas later this year, focuses particularly on Hamed’s relationship with his trainer Brendan Ingle, played in the film by Pierce Brosnan. Hamed will be portrayed by Amir El-Masry, who made a lasting impression in Ben Sharrock’s Limbo in 2020.

Kollywood director Nithilan Saminathan has two films under his belt so far and is now looking to add another, this time with Superstar Rajinikanth as the protagonist. According to 123 Telugu, the director has already met with the superstar, and Rajinikanth was reportedly impressed by the story narration. The script is currently in its final stages.

If reports are to be believed, the project is expected to be bankrolled by minister and actor Udhayanidhi Stalin under the Red Giant Movies banner. However, nothing has been made official yet. Even if everything goes as planned, Rajinikanth will reportedly join the project only after Jailer 2.

Five-time Emmy Award winner Neil Patrick Harris will be guiding contestants through Netflix’s new game show What’s In The Box as host. The six-episode first season is targeting a December 2025 premiere.

Cameroonian-American Philadelphia 76ers center and former NBA Mvp Joel Embiid has joined the producing team of “Mfinda,” an upcoming anime feature from the Tokyo- and LA-based studio N Lite. Embiid comes on board through his production company Miniature Géant, launched in partnership with LeBron James’ Uninterrupted.

Embiid will also executive produce a companion documentary, “Mfinda: Spirits of the Congo,” which will explore the film’s inspirations and behind-the-scenes production.

Betsy Gay, a retired actress and former child star, has passed away.

Per Variety, Gay's death was revealed by her friend, Bob Satterfield. No additional details about her passing were disclosed. She was 96 years old.

Born in 1929, Gay became a child star during the Golden Age of Hollywood. She may be best known for her involvement with the Little Rascals franchise, appearing in several episodes before taking on the role of Effie, Alfalfa's girlfriend. She spent a handful of years with the group before branching out to other TV and film roles in 1938. In the early 40s, she also acted in stage plays at the Pasadena Playhouse, appearing in productions of Quality Street, A Kiss for Cinderella, and Heros Unlimited.

Exclusive: John Lithgow will play Buzz Aldrin in a new podcast drama created by Stephen Kronish (24). Buzz will tell the story of the famous astronaut’s life and also get into the highs and lows of NASA’s Apollo 11 mission.

Lithgow will narrate Buzz and be the voice of Aldrin as he reflects on his life and career. It is for iHeartPodcasts, which produces alongside Thoroughbred Studios, the new label established by heavyweight media vets Jeff Bewkes, Howard Stringer and Jeremy Fox, per Deadline’s scoop. John Scott Dryden (Passenger List) directs Buzz and his Goldhawk Productions is a co-producer.

The 2025 TCM Classic Film Festival is opening with a flex of galactic muscle: “The Empire Strikes Back,” celebrating its 45th anniversary, will kick off the 16th edition of the festival presented by Turner Classic Movies in Los Angeles on Thursday, April 24. And even better, The Maker himself, George Lucas, will be in attendance to introduce it.

It’ll be an opening turbolaser salvo for a whole weekend of films revolving around the theme “Grand Illusions: Fantastic Worlds on Film,” brilliantly overseen once again by longtime festival director, Genevieve McGillicuddy.
