All kinds of people hired the Poseidon

Although it only on a season, I remember Crunch And Des as this syndicated series was broadcast at 6:30 PM as the dinner hour ended and I went right to the old black and white TV to watch. It was a good show for kids and adults.

Crunch Adams and Des Smith were partners in a Florida Charter boat they named the Poseidon. Forrest Tucker was Crunch who was a family man with wife Joanna Baynes and son Murray Burns. His younger partner Des Smith was Sandy Kenyon was singe and available.

All kinds of folks chartered he Poseidon and therein lie the plot to the many adventures the two had. Sad it only lasted one season.

    Fond memories from childhood TV

I was 8 when Crunch and Dez was on but I remember it fondly, maybe because my dad always had a love of boats and fishing and the water. I remember they ran a charter fishing boat with a flying bridge (that impressed me as an 8-year old)and were always out looking for swordfish and marlin and the like. Unfortunately I don't remember any of the specific shows or plots.

I'm surprised that the number of episodes is so small. I remember it as being the centerpiece of one evening a week, one of the few shows on early enough for me to watch and late enough for dad to be home to watch it with me. I would love to get some or all of the episodes. Maybe some of the studios (or whoever it is who owns the rights) should get together and do samplers from the early years of TV, all the old shows that for one reason or another will probably never get distributed on their own. They could even add a newsreel or two. I would think that would be fun.

    Memories of a Florida boy

Loved the show and remember being disturbed that it didn't return. Growing up on and near the water it was enjoyable.
