    • Trivia
A real crime is mentioned in this film. It was committed by former President of México (1988-1994) Carlos Salinas de Gortari when he was a child. It's mentioned on a sequence on this film: the interrogation by the judge (played by Eulalio Gonzalez). Where Eufrosina (played by Celia Viveros) states: "We are reading in the newspapers every day, tragedies about children, neglected by irresponsible parents who leave their guns within reach of their little hands". "(...) in recently days, some children shot a maid, (...)". This was real, and not fictional. On 18 December 1951, when Carlos counting three years old; Raúl Salinas his older brother, five years old, and an eight-year-old friend of them named Gustavo Zapata were playing "A La Guerra" (War Games) with Manuela, the Salinas family's twelve-year-old maid. They shot to Manuela with a .22 caliber rifle, taking her life. It was never determined which of the three boys pulled the trigger, but Carlos being a child claim to had been "the shooter", and the incident was declared an accident. It was given news coverage in Excelsior (a newspaper of the time) at the time. A judge blamed the Salinas parents for leaving a loaded weapon accessible to their small children. The Salinas family did not know and did not care what was the last name of Manuela, their murdered maid of 12 years of age. They only knew that she came from San Pedro Atzcapotzaltongo. It is unknown whether Manuela's family ever claimed her body. Carlos Salinas has not commented publicly on this tragic early childhood incident.
